  • This video shows you how I insulated the end walls of the greenhouse. After I completed putting the 2nd layer of plastic on the top, the end walls were next on the list to insulate.

I had actually been kicking around a few ideas for that window. Knowing how I operate.... I will try all of them before I settle on what everyone will see.
You know I haven't had to look for things to do ever since I brought this monster home Bernard! Thanks again my friend!

That turned out fantastic, and what a relief to know how much it's going to protect what's in the greenhouse. Great Job!

Between the wood burning stove and the insulation that greenhouse is going to be toasty! Good work Chuck!

OMG Chuck, how can you even say those words 'take down' after all the time, work and money you have in this project. I hope it gives you MANY, MANY, MANY years of pleasure.

Chuck it looks great. A lot of hard work recovering the greenhouse with the double skin. And now the stove and endwall insulating board. Very nice and you will greatly enjoy this during winter.

Thanks David. I thought that I had seen them on roofs in the past. When I saw them I thought that they would be perfect for my insulating project!

Hey Richard, I have watched every video that I could find on rocket stove heat and found that it doesn't scale out for a greenhouse of this size! This is 30' X 96" and 17 1/2 feet tall! That is a tremendous amount of square footage to heat no matter what you use. The double barrel stove is doing a great job.

Great job you got going on, wow, very nice! I am predicting by this time next year, you will be brick facing the outside 4 foot up along each long side, pouring a concrete pad on the center aisle inside, and wood framing the roof for future corrugated translucent hard-plastic sheeting! :) Great greenhouse Chuck, you are doing it right at every step!

Thank you Luke. I have seen your work and I know that you could do this, but thanks so much for the compliment! I have about 1/3 of the GH populated with vegetation so far. Thanks again my friend!

You are a kind & hardworking man. When you are finished, are you going to let us know what the final cost of this greenhouse is?

Chuck: I enjoy watching your progress. If you added a board at the top of your window you could frame and hinge a section of the the insulation and be able to vent that end if needed and still have it covered when it gets real cold. How long has it been since you said you didn't have anything to do today. Keep on Trucking!

Great idea John.... is brick a good insulator? lol I have a feeling that the sun would have a tough time getting through the brick! You are correct though, there is always something to do and improvements that can be made when you have a greenhouse this size!

It would be really easy to take down if it didn't work out. It would come down a lot easier than it went up.

cfenster It's all very quiet at the moment in the UK, not much going on. I should be making a couple of videos soon, but when that will be I'm not sure.

I already am Bruce! This setup is really nice! I have only just begun having to heat it at night, but the few nights that have needed the heat haven't required my going out to re-stoke the fire like Bobby has talked about. The stove is keeping the GH warm and lasting from about midnight till sun up.
    So far so good!

You can get greenhouse type bubble wrap, that is quite expensive, it is supposed to perform better than packing bubble wrap.

    • @FensterfarmGreenhouse
      @FensterfarmGreenhouse  8 років тому

The insulation that I used in this video worked but made a real mess as it degraded. I would not recommend using this method at all. I now use a double layer of plastic and a blower forcing air between them on the end walls. It is the same principle as the bubble wrap.

I have a series of 4 videos that I made a year ago beginning with this one SXsEDoWFGAE that shows you how I built it. Search SXsEDoWFGAE on UA-cam if you'd like to see them. I will probably do one pretty soon on how it works in the greenhouse for you!
BTW, What is your name or what may I call you?
