      ss ss Actually, no… Volkswagen realized that downsizing, as far as it has come, has started to show negative effects on emissions and fuel consumption, so they'll be back with slightly bigger engines. The 1.4 TSI was replaced by a 1.5, and the 1.0 is mainly just for city purposes and groceries etc... From the moment you take pretty much any 3 cylinder on the highway, fuel economy will drop.
      But 3k rpm at 150 km/h is still impressive for a 1.0 3cyl.
      And then again, in 2030, maybe we won't get any normal gasoline engines anymore? :(

    • @britishentertainment7610
      @britishentertainment7610 5 років тому +1

      @@arnemaeschaelck5012 True. They also upsized polo gti from 1.8 to 2.0tsi. In 2030 golf will be an electric hybrid vehicle with an 1.2 120hp engine and a 30hp electric motor. Only that way he will be able to match EURO7 and later EURO8 emission standards which ask for under 90grams of CO2.

      @leonardthesnifferwallace5073 5 років тому +40

      Never mind that. The acceleration is impressive for such a small engine. 0-200km/h in 38 seconds (speedometer speed). A Mercedes 450 SEL 6,9 managed 0-200km/h in 36,7 seconds back in 1979. That was powered by a huge 6,9 liter V8. Sure, it was probably twice as heavy as this Golf but it was also more expensive than a Rolls Royce at the time so only the very rich could afford such performance. And 6,9 liters is 7 times(!) the displacement of this tiny 1,0 liter 3-cylinder engine.
      Today, 40 years later, an economy car almost anybody can afford is just slightly slower to 200km/h than a luxury Mercedes with a 6,9 liter V8 40 years ago.
      My point is. A lot of development has been made over 40 years.
      A Ferrari 308i from 1982 did 0-200km/h in 33,4 seconds.

      @@leonardthesnifferwallace5073 Technology is amazing, isn't it? It seems very slow and iterative year by year, but over the span of a couple decades it's mind-blowing. If you told someone from 40 years ago that in a handful of decades a tiny engine like this could compete with a top-end Mercedes with a V8 then you would have been ridiculed and laughed at, but here we are. Of course there are still kinks to be worked out with these small but efficient engines, but that being said, what's in store in the next 50 years? Only time will tell!

Because I have the 1.0l tsi and I also have a car with 0.8l engine I can asure you that this engine will last very long. Look at ford's 1.0 turbo with 125hp. Was declarated the best engine 6 years from 2012. So....what we ar talking about? Big engines are done...and so are the disel engines. I manage to get a 3.9L/100km with my toledo ( 1.0tsi 110hp).

    Crazy having such a small engine for a relatively heavy car. The 1.5 TSI is much better suited

    • @josefineseyfarth6236
      @josefineseyfarth6236 3 роки тому

      The 1.5 TSI may be bigger and have 4 cylinders, but according to my dad who is a car mechanic at a Volkswagen garage, these engines make more problems than the older 1.2 or 1.4 TSI engines or even than the 1.0 TSI.
      Breaks faster and accelerates slower.

    0-160 in 22.35 seconds. that is pretty good for a 1.0 with 115 hp. I think also because of the low weight of the car 1140kg. I think buying the 1.0 as used car is better because of the oil problems with 1.2 / 1.4 tsi. you can remap it to 145 hp.

      This engine is certainly not a joke as u call it. It has been tested over and over again to perform well and get a nice mileage on it. The engine might be small, but that doesn't mean its bad. I had a 2.5L Bmw E39 which broke down on 170K miles. And the 2.5 Engines are supposed to be the best in the BMW brand. (Big engines don't mean big mileage) Now I own a 1.0L Seat Ibiza (same engine as this Golf) AND IT IS DOING AMAZING.

      A joke? :))...I have Seat Toledo with this engine. 1.0tsi 110hp. I have it from april 2018 and it''s very good. Very small fuel consumption and it puls in any condition. Now it has 10300km. I'm pretty sure it will last a very long time. I also have a daewoo tico with 0.8 engine. it has 135000km and it still working. In fact it is the third tico in my family and the secot Toledo with 1.0 engine. So...small engines can last a lot if you drive them in normal conditions. ...And 1.0 tsi is a very relaxed and elastic engine. at 100km/h has only 2000rpm and at 150km/h has 3000rpm.
