So I did try that meat but it was tough and didn’t taste good. I think it was safe enough but I needed to boil it a few hours longer. So I gave it to my dogs.
Looked like you all had a good camp. Your horses are beautiful. I finally will have a camping video out Monday showcasing a plow point shelter at a local lake.
Your videos remind me of song lyrics like: "I think I'd rather be a cowboy I think I'd rather ride the reigns I think I'd rather be a cowboy Then to lay me down and love the lady's chains I'd rather live on the side of a mountain Than wander through canyons of concrete and steel I'd rather laugh with the rain and the sunshine Then lay down my sun down in some starry field" ...and I like that thanks for that! ='D
Yup, more horses! My first muzzle loader hunt in New Mexico I called a bull into 20 yards, pulled the trigger twice, and almost had a new cap on before he spooked!! Great hunts don't always end in with a kill. PS, get a "cow" elk call, or make one, it brings a whole other aspect to the adventure!! Good luck brother!
I’d eat the meat if you thought it was ok, I’ve eaten questionable meat before haha, one time me and my buddy was hiking and he said that his buddy drank from the stream/waterfall that we were hiking by, so I gather some water and I lived, just off of his word, you said you’re buddy does renaissance that’s cool, I thought about when it gets colder out I’ll try some medieval camping cause then I could wear my wool blanket like a cloak and I got a little cast iron cauldron I can carry around and make stew
Medieval era is great, I’d be doing it as well if I had more time and money. Yeah I did eat some of that meat but failed to video it. It tasted pretty bad though so I gave it to my dogs.
@@OverOnTheWildSide ya I’m not buying all the stuff, I’m just using stuff that looks old, and I did say “if you said the meat was ok” haha ya you’d be able to tell real quick if it was bad eating it
That was a pretty cool hunt and a very nice camp set up Richard! Excellent video like always man. Hope you have better luck on your next hunt. For me it's always been about having a great time and enjoying the outdoors, and if I ended up getting something then I considered that a bonus! I take that same attitude when I go fishing. I can't wait to see your next video! Take care till then buddy.
Thanks Peter, yeah the experience is always the most valuable part. In the moment I’m serious about getting one, but outside of the moment I’m fine with not killing an animal.
@@OverOnTheWildSide I knew it was washington! Been watching for a minute now. I am 15, soon to get my permit and can’t wait to be able to drive out of town and go explore. I must ask, how do you know where u can burn fires and such legally? (I live in WA as well). I often fish and would love to know where it is legal and not legal to burn so I can do catch and cooks and other things of the sort. Sorry for the off topic question love your videos!
@@Qihte no sweat, I’m glad to help. Mostly it’s about time here in Washington, as in- how far into summer and how dry is it? I believe some lands like BLM lands, may have specific dates each year. National forests post the fire danger level… When I went up to Surprise Lake the campfires were allowed much later than at lower elevations. I may have talked about the snow in July in one of the videos. Also you can come up with a cool alcohol stove and still do catch and cooks in the summer.

And some seasoning
The atmosphere of that video is almost tangible. Another great one!
Thanks my friend!

Awesome I’m looking forward to it. Please remind me.
@@OverOnTheWildSide Will do.
This was super fun to watch. Also thanks for the volume up and down prompts it made watching verey easy
Good! I’m glad it worked. I took for granted how challenging the sound would be. I need to start using my voice recorder.
Old Overholt! Classic cowboy whiskey.
Absolutely! I don’t drink much but it’s fun to have that around.

I don’t know that one but I like it!
Nice camp, amazing country… beautiful!
Well done fellas! Pleasure to watch
just found your channel. 👍 watching you makes me wish I would have spent my time with my dad at rendezvous and cowboy shoots.
Sounds like you had/have a cool dad. Trapping the flint hills sounds pretty cool.
Living the dream , man! Well done ..
Thank you, that trip was a dream fulfilled.

It sucks when the gun doesn’t go off! I did have a cow call but they weren’t responding for some reason.
Lovely country! Looked like a nice outing. Keep Us posted on your follow-up!
Looked like a fun trip. I'm going deer hunting in two more weeks. Be well and at peace.
Good luck!
What kind of tent does Al have?Love the videos amigo and elk hunting is my favorite.
Thanks man. Someone else asked about Al’s tents in the comments. If you scroll up a bit I think you’ll see it and Al replied.
@@OverOnTheWildSide Found it!Its a 15th century Norman tent.
I love the way of your life. I'm so boring living in modern civilization.

2:43 what kind of dog is that behind you? 😁😁😁😁.
That was my Border Collie Flint. Sadly he died when we were in Texas.
what about the bears and wolves and scary wild animals
I have dogs with me that scare them off.
missed the part were you ate the meat friend .
I didn’t take any video of it, it was pretty dark when I cooked it and I only ate a bite or two before giving it to the dogs.
