  • I am no stranger to camping in hotel R4P but this time I tried just leaving the vehicle on all night with EV mode on.

    Very informative video. Thank you for sharing it. I am thinking about buying the 2024 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid Woodland or SE . I am going to be traveling all over the US. I have been looking for videos of people that use their Rav4 Hybrid to camp. If anyone knows of any links please comment and provide links. Thank you so much.

    I just made a 1300 mile almost non stop drive in my new to me 2021 Prime, and as expected, the two brief naps I took, with the outside air temps in the mid 20's F., were made more comfortable with the cabin heat at 70 degrees! The engine never kicked on, the larger battery in the Prime making this possible, as compared to my 2013 plug in Prius anyway. This feature of our plug in hybrids is largely unknown by most people, it's a bonus, on top of the usual great economical driving experience.

      Are you able to lock the vehicle when your inside? If the key fob is inside can’t someone just open to door?

    When you camp all night, where do you sleep? Do you sleep in the driver seat or do you fold down the rear seats with an air mattress in back? Also, if you sleep in back, how long is the back area for sleeping?

      I sleep in the back with an air mattress. I am 5'10" and I barely fit. Check this vid out:

    Is that good for the battery to run it all night like that? What about multiple nights?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  2 роки тому +3

      It's ok shouldn't harm the battery. If you fully deplete the battery the vehicle will go into hybrid mode and charge the battery

      @@HadesOmega if you plug it in and turn on camping mode. Is it using the battery or just the electric from the outlet?

    • @Monkeyseemonkey79
      @Monkeyseemonkey79 Рік тому

      @@StarD435 "Room Mode" uses the power from your outlet. I wish that, when the car is plugged in, it would draw power from the wall outlet after pressing "Hold A/C". Oddly my Prime seems to drain the battery when using "Hold A/C" when the car is plugged into the wall outlet.
      I was hoping to avoid depleting the range when warming the car in the morning. Time to consult the owner's manual...

      @@HadesOmega thanks! I just got a prime and l really liking it. So what buttons do you need to press to charge up the battery when driving so when you get to a campsite you have a full charge?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  9 місяців тому +1

      You are thinking of charge mode. To enter charge mode you press and hold the HV/EV button down (upper right of the mode select dial) until it enters charge mode. It will run the ICE and charge the battery until it is 80% charged.

    • @davidparker8309

      @@HadesOmega thanks and the hold button is to hold the charge? It won’t use the battery?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  9 місяців тому

      @@davidparker8309 No the hold button means to hold the button down to enter charge mode. If you want to hold the charge put it in HV mode, it will run like a normal hybrid and preserve the charge. Just press the HV/EV button until it says HV mode. If you just want to use the charge use EV Mode.
      Here's a charge mode tip also:

    I have a garage in my house. I am afraid that the electric grid will fail this winter. Is it possible to heat my house a little bit with my car ? Could you not show how you change the settings when you open the door ? Also, is it possible to switch off the lights ?

    So the climate control won't stay on while you're sleeping, you have to manually press a button to turn it back on again? That sucks compared to a prius for example which automatically maintains a set temperature. I was hoping that the advantage of a plug in hybrid is that the battery would be big enough to avoid the car having to turn on multiple times/night to recharge the battery, is this not the case? It is very confusing.
    My question is simply this: Can I stay warm (or cool in summer) for a 7 hour period without the engine turning on once or not?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Рік тому +6

      Did you even watch the video? I left it on all night with the climate control at 72F in 30F weather. It almost use all the charge.
