i knew miyazaki was awesome, but sending a sword that said "no cuts" was sooooo badass its like in the godfather they send him a fish and it meant luki brasi sleeps with the fishes
Amazing work as always, Mononoke is my second favorite ghibli movie Here is a quote from Miyazaki about the whole cuts thing "Actually, my producer(Toshio suzuki) did that. Although I did go to New York to meet this man, this Harvey Weinstein, and I was bombarded with this aggressive attack, all these demands for cuts." He smiles. "I defeated him."
Princess Mononoke is my first and favorite Miyazaki movie. It's also my favorite animated movie of all time. I remember seeing this as a little kid at Blockbuster (Wow, that makes me feel old). I didn't know about Studio Ghibli at the time. When the movie started, I instantly fell in love with it. It's just SO great. Thank you +Anime Vice for making this video.
+Star Lord Mine was Nausicä and second was Monacona and when I talk about them people say I have issues but they actulay have issues because they didn't know this even existed
Spirited Away is my favorite, but by such a tiny margin above Princess Mononoke that you'd need an electron microscope to see it. Theorists claim that the gap is actually nonexistent, and that it only appears to be there due to quantum-unpredictable warping of the space-time continuum caused by the awesome proximity of these two films, when placed side by side for the comparison.
+Luke Venable Mmmmhm, I totally understand that. I get indecisive too for a few weeks directly after watching Mononoke. Then it slowly returns to the equilibrium state. What I don't understand, however, is when people say that Howl's Moving Castle is their favorite. Does not compute.
Here's another thing to add. The word, mononoke, means "vengeful ghost," or "specter," in Japanese. The Japanese title, "Mononoke Hime," thus means "Ghost Princess". For the international release, the title was changed to "Princess Mononoke" out of concern that it would otherwise confuse viewers unfamiliar with Japanese culture and language.
+HeavenStar they let people with the enigmatic question of "what the heck is mononoke?" so people would get to translate it as they see fit, some of my friends thought that San's name was mononoke lol
Yes, thank you for showing a guy getting sliced in half. My 72 year old mother really appreciated that when she was watching to learn something about one of her favorite animated movies.
+Cody Lakin the violence in the anime has a purpose, as well. Ashitaka fights in defence of the villagers, and the bestial power is the first sign of the effects of the curse. However unpleasant the visual, it makes sense in context. Perhaps in the context of Final Destination, that horrific dismemberment makes sense. I don't know, I chose not to watch that movie. Shown out of context & without warning here, the clip is just offensive.
+dukeleto77 Don't get me wrong, haha, Final Destination is a terrible movie and series. Pure stupidity. I suppose I'm just a bit sensitized to violence so I don't think of it as offensive to be shown without warning, just kind of run-of-the-mill, especially here on UA-cam--and honestly, censorship on the internet hardly exists anymore. I understand where you're coming from though
I would like to say that his retelling of beauty and the beast is Howl's moving castle no? Enchanted castle? Selfish protagonist somebody is cursed? I dunno. I always saw it that way.
I watched Princess Mononoke when I was 6 and I was a little creeped with all the blood, demons, and violence, but now I think it's really creative and badass XD
I watched it at 7 and the rotting flesh of the boar just terrified me but it was also so beautiful I knew from the beginning it would be my favourite film and it is since !
Piano Rose Have always watched it since I was a little kid and had absolutely no problem with it. Same with Spirited Away : I know many people who are quite afraid of No Face because they watched the movie as children while I think he's fascinating.
The first time i watched mononoke was when i was 5-6 I was invested until the last part...when all hell breaks loose after killing the forest spirit I just ran out of the room in terror
The character Ashitaka is not Japanese but an indigenous Japanese tribesman belonging to the Emishi people who were wiped out by the Yamato (main) Japanese people
Spirited Away is my favourite. Going back and watching it now I don't understand how my parents let me watch it when I was 5, it really is not for young kids!
+MineKynoMine My parents let me watch violent anime ever since I could crawl like Sailor Moon(1) Princess Monacona(2) and Nausicä of the Valley of the Wind (?)
Showing the violent scenes in a trailer for an animated movie to say, "Dear parents, this is not for your 3 year old brat," is actually one of the smartest thing I've ever heard. LOL XD
Thank you Anime Vice for sharing these details :) Amongst all the Studio Ghibli films, Princess Mononoke is my number one favourite and it's the first Studio Ghibli film I've ever watched.
Mononoke hime was my first myzaki film, and each i rewatch it, i'm never disapointed, it's truly genious, myazaki is a truly a master of the animation.
Mononoke is my favourite movie ever. I'm glad this video focused on behind the scenes stuff cause I would've gotten mad if it were just a "things you might've missed" kinda thing
More fun facts about Yakushima - It takes about 8 hours to get to the center - just one way. The center is also the biggest and oldest tree in Japan (Pretty sure)
Oh it's actually a fresh video- 18.8.15. Somehow got here by youtube, and yet have to admit i didn't know any of 'em. I found 16 years of developing the story as it is most interesting, and i appreciate it didnt came out in any different form cuz it's 100% masterpiece and every moment of it is perfect. If you ask for my favourite Ghiblis film, it's Princess Mononoke, and it's also my favourite film ever too. I feel some sort of bond with it, when i watched it 2 years ago i got some best memories that cinematography can bring, its so close to my hearth and soul...
My favorite Ghibli film has to be the Tale of Princess Kaguya. While Miyazaki's films are all fantastic in every sense of the word (my favorite being either Mononoke or Laputa), none of them has reached me as strongly on a purely emotional level. They have of course. I'm not saying that. I often felt wonder, excitement and amazement. I often loved the main characters and even the antagonists. It's just that with Takahata's fairly grounded stories, it's easier for me to sympathise with the characters and the story. I like to trust my emotions. The stronger emotions I feel during a movie, the more likely I rate it highly. Of course if those emotions are disgust and disappointment in the quality of the movie, I won't be praising it because it made me feel things. It's not excactly "objective" but what is? Just thinking about the scene in which Kaguya escapes the city to go back to her childhood home gives me goosebumps. Probably my favorite animated scene of all time. So beautiful.
Out of all of Miyazaki's films, this is my favorite. I think that's because it's the only one that I immediately "got" on both it's surface and deep levels without having to have someone explain it to me as a kid.
Mair Bear Grave of the Fireflies. Great movie but I couldn't watch it again after the first time. I'll just stick to my happy-go-lucky Studio Ghibli movies.
+Mair Bear i buried my copy after watching it once. No other movie made me feel that bad, and it's a testament to the greatness of the makers if a movie moved you that much.
Some more: - The original title of the film was "Ashitaka Sekki" before changed to "Mononoke Hime" - Miyazaki intended Ashitaka and San to not live together in the end until Toshio Suzuki changed his mind. - Yakkul first appeared in Miyazaki's first manga which he made on the 70s called "Shuna no Tabi", which is inspired by a Tibetan folktale. Yakkul appeared as a faithful ride and an important character, much like in Mononoke. - A bit more on "Shuna no Tabi". Miyazaki seemed to draw a lot of Shuna into Ashitaka. Shuna is a prince who went out from his impoverished, on-the-periphery-of-civilization kingdom to find a golden seed to return his kingdom to glory. In the end of his quest, he went back to his kingdom, but the reader never knew if he reached it or not. - Miyazaki probably begun working on Princess Mononoke after finishing his second manga, Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, which took 12 years to complete, from 1982 to 1994. I'm sure there's more, but I forgot.
if I made a show and the creator of teen titans go wants to remake it into his own I'll send a katana saying you deserved better like Miyazaki except the no cuts
An additional little fact: Neil Gaiman made the English script for Mononoke. He did very well! The only error he made was in translating Ashitaka's betrothed, Kaya, as his little sister. However I'm not sure it was truly an error since everyone referred to each other as brother and sister in their culture and it would be hard to translate in a single line.
It was, however only Miyazaki really knew about true relationship between Ashitaka & Kaya. Even during the voice acting, he directed his actors in this way when they haven't a real clue about it.
I first saw the movie when I was 12, I think! I watched it again and again, and played in the forest around like if I were the princess! =D aah childhood !
This was the first movie I ever remember watching & to this day it still remains one of my all time favorites!! I was around four or five the first time I saw it and once or twice a year I whip out the ol' VHS tape and stick it in the VCR player and get ready for some childhood feels.
"Hi, I'm a mother wolf. Do you want to party?" I lost it there. I'm pretty sure this was my first Ghibli film, and Kiki's came shortly after. I remember sneaking this into our checkout stack at Blockbuster, because I was definitely younger than 13. It's not for every young kid, that's for sure. However, I was watching X-Files at an inappropriately young age, and hearing Gillian was in the dub was why I grabbed this in the first place. While I'm thankful I did, it depends on the kid watching it.
Heres one interesting fact u might like...notice Prince Ashitaka's fight between the Demon in the opening scene is very similar to Nausicaa battling the giant Ohm in the beginning of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind! Both characters try peaceful ways to stop the creatures from killing innocents as well. ( Lord Yuppa & Villagers of Ashitaka's tribe)
Princess Mononoke is my favorite Studio Ghibli movie. The last time I watched it was last night. Really, it's just epic, there's nothing else to be said.
between this and spirited away...i guess it depends on the day for me. kinda funny, i was in a comic book store and they had a Princess Mononoke book along with all the art books, but when i opened it it was a much different story than the movie. turns out it was that original beauty and the beast story, pretty much just rough storyboards and sketches. The mononoke was the beast, and looked a lot like Totoro. i kinda regret not buying it.
this has been my favourite film for years. i can't get enough of it, i've probably watched it around 30 times already. also i'm glad that you pronounced totoro correctly :D
Just got my blu-ray this morning, cant believe i had to wait for a sale xD What a masterpiece, even more so that i can fully comprehend its messages and what they convey. Thanks for these cool tidbits of information! Personally i wanna hit up mononoke forest. Subscribed :)
Literally? Porco Rosso was already one, also Mononoké, Also Howl's Moving Castle ( Sophie & Howl have their own Beast each other), so close of BatB fairy tale, and Spirited Away, with the platonic romance between Chihiro & Haku.
One little fact you guys over looked. "Mononoke" is a loose remake of Miyazaki's own manga and film "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". Watch the two films back to back and you will see the similarities in both characters and plot. The irony is that some people think I mean San in "Mononoke" is the Nausicaa analogue. But in fact it is Ashitaka who fulfills that role. So in his loose remake Miyazaki reversed the genders of his two main protagonists.
"I'm a mother wolf. Do you wanna party?" - I died Also, are you sure it's pronounced "jibli"? Because I'm pretty sure 'gh' is always read as a hard 'g'. Gallagher, Ghana, ghost, ghetto...
I'm pretty sure he's correct. Most people I hear pronouncing Ghibli are doing it wrong by saying "Gibli". The word actually is Italian and is pronounced "Gibli" there, but in Japan "gh" is pronounced as "j", so it's pronounced "Jibli". I suppose we need a Japan expert here
PaperFlyer77 I didn't think a Japanese film studio would have an Italian name. I know things like "Sonic Team" have English names for easy communication worldwide; but Italian, can't think of a reason. But yeah, I second the motion that we need someone who actually knows what they're talking about. XD
+ScientistCat the word "Ghibli" describes a hot desert wind in the Sahara, and that's what Miyazaki wanted to bring to the anime-genre. Google it, it sounds absolutely absurd but is the truth xD
+ScientistCat found this on Wikipedia: »The name Ghibli was given by Hayao Miyazaki with reference to the Caproni Ca.309 Ghibli.[4] The Italian noun "ghibli" is based on the Libyan-Arabic name for the sirocco, or Mediterranean wind, the idea being the studio would "blow a new wind through the anime industry".[4][5] Although the Italian word is pronounced with a hard ɡ, the Japanese pronunciation of the studio's name is with a soft g, [dʑíbu͍ɾi]«
this is my first ghibli movie and i was impressed , it was certainly very interesting to watch and such an epic story telling , i was wanted it to continue later on , so much
My top 15 Ghibli movies are like: 1-Spirited Away 2-Mononoke Hime 3-Nausicaa 4-Howls moving castle 5-Laputa 6-Ponyo 7-Totoro 8-Pompoko 9-From up on poppy hill 10-Whisper of the heart 11-Princess Kaguya 12-Grave of fireflies 13-Kikis delivery 14-The wind rises 15-The cat returns Yes, i watched all the Ghibli movies many times, and there's at least 15 that is so great to mention.
Actually the first time i have seen this movie, it scared the crap outta me for some reason. At the same time, it fascinated me so much, i watched it many times more and now its one of my fav movies
I am going to this forest. Princess Mononoke is my all time favorite movie by Hayao Myazaki. I am getting my back tattooed as a mural to it. Every little detail has something to do with life and death, man and nature. It's so beautiful. I watch it all the time, and I always find new little symbols, absolutely beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone!
I love miyazaki films but now looking back at his movies, you can tell he heavily concentrated more on the visual aspect of his films compared to dialogue. Still love it tho
When it comes to action movies or eye-candy movies, I prefer dubbed audio over subtitles. Princess Mononoke is a great movie except for Billy Bob Thornton as Jigo. Like, so bad. I really wish Disney would re-dub the movie, even if it just to replace Jigo's dialogue.
I grew up watching this in japanese as the libraries only had subbed versions of movies.. but i love the english version an i think "scully" and the audio department did good in making her voice.. wolf like..
Each movie was so different. Princess mononoke was an epic tale. Totoro was a good childhood movie. Spirited Away was dreamy and imaginative. Castle in the Sky and The Valley in (of ?) the sky was a good story with family and friends. Here are my top 3 favorites: 1. Princess Mononoke 2. Spirited Away 3. Castle in the Sky
It's (apart from the story) because of the plastic animation paper, that the movie is so great. Hand drawn pics are just more epic. That is why todays animated movies completely lack having a "soul". They don't have this love and character anymore that movies drawn on plastic animation papers have/had.
Might be worth mentioning Neil Gaiman's involvement into the movie adaptation (in fact, you can see him in this video at 2.44 along side with Miyazaki-san.
thank you for letting me know about that forest! gonna check what it costs to get there from osaka asap and visit when i get a chance. wow. i have loved this movie since it came out and have watched it about 16 times already. must go to that forest..... just gotta figure out which month is the best!
Miyazaki is the last aged animation director you'd want to piss off! Also, nice pronunciation! It's nice to see a video where the narrator doesn't completely butcher the Japanese!
i'v watched it at 6 or 7, and now my brother who is 8 years old do it also and it's his favorite movie. I agree, the movie is not receipted in the same way when you are a child and when you grow, but i don't think it's a problem to watch it young :)
If a Japanese person sent me a katana, no matter the reason, I would be angry only if the katana was an imitation! In fact, it would still be a rad decoration piece, so I'd not be angry at all.
Perfect Loser That katana is actually a passive-agressive way to say "go harakiri, fucker". And it was his producer, Toshio Suzuki that sent that, not Miyazaki.
I would love to see a live action version of this movie but, I believe that it would be very hard for them to do it right. Many movies do tend to butcher the very art they try to bring to the big screen.
Even to this day, The Deer God will always remain one of the most terrifying faces I've seen my entire life.
it just looks derpy to me
It looks like a legendary pokemon to me. :D
It's the forest god not the deer god :o
Alex Nichols, it is referred to as both the Forest God, and the Deer God in the film.
what happened that day?
i knew miyazaki was awesome, but sending a sword that said "no cuts" was sooooo badass
its like in the godfather they send him a fish and it meant luki brasi sleeps with the fishes
Amazing work as always, Mononoke is my second favorite ghibli movie
Here is a quote from Miyazaki about the whole cuts thing "Actually, my producer(Toshio suzuki)
did that. Although I did go to New York to meet this man, this Harvey Weinstein, and I was bombarded with this aggressive attack, all these demands for cuts." He smiles. "I defeated him."
Is that really true?
+Alla Maz If it's your second favourite, what's your #1 favourite?
im curious to know you cant leave us on a hangover like this
cliffhanger** lol
Harvey Rektstein. Im glad he declined.
And the 8th thing you (probably) didn't know:
I played Ashitaka in the stage adaptation of the film that toured London and Japan.
That’s so cool!
Princess Mononoke is still my favorite of the Ghibli films, followed by Naussica and Porco Rosso.
Same
Porco rosso is so slept on honestly
Literally same
Princess Mononoke is my first and favorite Miyazaki movie.
+Star Lord
Mine was Nausicä and second was Monacona and when I talk about them people say I have issues but they actulay have issues because they didn't know this even existed
Connie Orta True. People know more about the stupid Minions than the masterpieces that are Studio Ghibli movies
+Star Lord
I know they are idots and have no busnies until they know how amazing it really is
Connie Orta True.
+Star Lord
they should be watching the good stuff first and then fun stuff like in my opnion Pokemon or Yo-Gi-Yo
Okay.
*****
He's just showing off. Be thankful he hasn't pulled a dog out yet.
+the tourist You fight like a cow.
I like your pro pic ;)
Mononoke is probably tied with Spirited Away for me. I think both are just amazing films.
Mononoké is far better tbh
'no cuts' is my favorite rumor. I don't think that was ever confirmed, right?
Lerkero Pretty sure it's 100% truth and not a rumor at all. Miyazaki openly admits he did that.
+TomAKAVeto no, it's not him. It was one of his co-workers in charge of sales or something
+Radi Bear (Radioactive TeddyBear) yeah it was his Producer Suzuki if I remember correctly
Here's another thing to add.
The word, mononoke, means "vengeful ghost," or "specter," in Japanese. The Japanese title, "Mononoke Hime," thus means "Ghost Princess". For the international release, the title was changed to "Princess Mononoke" out of concern that it would otherwise confuse viewers unfamiliar with Japanese culture and language.
h0m3st4r Actually they didn't "change" the title. The kept the title the exact same, but chose to not translate the word "Mononoke."
+HeavenStar they let people with the enigmatic question of "what the heck is mononoke?" so people would get to translate it as they see fit, some of my friends thought that San's name was mononoke lol
+TomAKAVeto semantics.
+SanraS Uzumaki I assumed Mononoke was one of her nicknames or something. I guess it's true in a sense, because people do call her that.
+h0m3st4r hmm I thought mononoke was just a term for ghosts and spirits in general.
Yes, thank you for showing a guy getting sliced in half. My 72 year old mother really appreciated that when she was watching to learn something about one of her favorite animated movies.
didn't especially enjoy that bit myself, tbh. Your mother has my sympathies.
+Robert Gronewold Princess Mononoke has a few decapitations and worse though, even if it is anime
+Cody Lakin yeah that was their point, but the clip was significantly more graphic & unpleasant
+Cody Lakin the violence in the anime has a purpose, as well. Ashitaka fights in defence of the villagers, and the bestial power is the first sign of the effects of the curse. However unpleasant the visual, it makes sense in context.

Princess Mononoke is a masterpiece! My favourite animated movie of all time :)
My favorite Ghibli movie is Nausicaä.
For some reason it doesn't get nearly enough praise or even recognition by most self-proclaimed anime fans.
Manga is way better
Maybe because it isnt a ghibli film?
In Japan, Nausica is as popular as princess mononoke. I grew up in Japan and love them both.
I love nausicaä! The movie is cool and well the manga is a bit confusing.
Neither does Pom Poko.

I really like Princess Mononoke but I also really like NausicaA
My favorite is Nausica but Princess Mononoke is close second :P
Same with me!
My 5 year old said her favorite part is when "the forest spirit heals ashitaka's booboo"
Spirited Away is my favourite. Going back and watching it now I don't understand how my parents let me watch it when I was 5, it really is not for young kids!
why do you feel that it isn't for kids? just curious.
Destiny Victoria
just the themes of the movie. Now that I think about it, it probably went over my head
y
+MineKynoMine
My parents let me watch violent anime ever since I could crawl like Sailor Moon(1) Princess Monacona(2) and Nausicä of the Valley of the Wind (?)
Connie Orta
lol, my parents didn't even let me watch Dragonball till I was in High School
I think Howl's Moving Castle is Miyazaki's Beauty and the Beast
+Ashton Daley It's more like "the ugly duckling".
+Ashton Daley Actually Howl's Moving Castle is based of the book by the same name, written by Diana Wynne Jones. :)
Showing the violent scenes in a trailer for an animated movie to say, "Dear parents, this is not for your 3 year old brat," is actually one of the smartest thing I've ever heard.
LOL XD
That katana thing is epic. Don't you freaking dare to cut an artists vision!
Thank you Anime Vice for sharing these details :) Amongst all the Studio Ghibli films, Princess Mononoke is my number one favourite and it's the first Studio Ghibli film I've ever watched.
How funny, I just got this movie in the mail today along with 3 other great Ghibli films,
Mononoke hime was my first myzaki film, and each i rewatch it, i'm never disapointed, it's truly genious, myazaki is a truly a master of the animation.
I am 100x more disgusted by Harvey Weinstein than before watching this.

This is probally my favorite movie of all time and favorite Miyazaki film other than Spirited Away
Howls moving castle is my favorite, I just love the story line and all the characters.
I love all Studio Ghibli movies but my favorite is Grave for Fireflies.
Mair Bear Same.
Mair Bear Grave of the Fireflies. Great movie but I couldn't watch it again after the first time. I'll just stick to my happy-go-lucky Studio Ghibli movies.
Mair Bear I have the disc for the fireflies but never watch it for 5 years now..seeing the comments how sad the story was..I don't like sad story =(
+Mair Bear i buried my copy after watching it once. No other movie made me feel that bad, and it's a testament to the greatness of the makers if a movie moved you that much.
They intentionally made Grave of the Fireflies as depressing as possible, that's why I would choose any other Ghibli film as my favorite.
Princess Mononoke is my favorite studio Ghibli movie so far followed by howls moving castle.
Princess mononoke is my first anime film I have ever watched! The message of the film still resonates with me to this day!
IF you guys haven't watch The Tale of Princess Kaguya. Do it. It's can easily stand next to Mononoke and Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke is by far my favorite Ghibli movie and was the first one I ever watched of his.
Right when the first samurai's arms flew off from a single arrow, I literally said out loud "I never expected this from Studio Ghibli".

Really? Huh! Did not know that.
Kai Sea It's on the Mononoké long making-of, when some guy sent it on YT.
lol I like how they said "its not a film for kids" while I watched this when I was about 6-8
+Meta pck wooooooooooooooooooooooooow here's a cookie, you earned it.
fumomo fumosarum i know youre being sarcastic but thanks for the cookie xDDD
Meta pck np. it's a little burned around the edges though.
fumomo fumosarum hm well i like a little crust
I first saw the movie when I was 12, I think! I watched it again and again, and played in the forest around like if I were the princess! =D aah childhood !
REALLY?! It's not for kids? I think the first time I watched it I was six or seven
For me all the Ghibli movies are equally amazing. Each movie has its own emotion .
While I'm thankful I did, it depends on the kid watching it.
princess mononoke
howl's moving castle
spirited away
i practically lived my childhood over these movies i am in love with them. always will be
Heres one interesting fact u might like...notice Prince Ashitaka's fight between the Demon in the opening scene is very similar to Nausicaa battling the giant Ohm in the beginning of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind!
I can't pick a favorite Ghibli film, they're all masterpieces. I think Mononoke is the most beautifully animated and gorgeously cinematic.
this has been my favourite film for years. i can't get enough of it, i've probably watched it around 30 times already.
also i'm glad that you pronounced totoro correctly :D
Awesome work guys!!! keep this series going :D
Favorite is Castle in the Sky. I feel like everyone always overlooks that one.
Just got my blu-ray this morning, cant believe i had to wait for a sale xD
What a masterpiece, even more so that i can fully comprehend its messages and what they convey.
Thanks for these cool tidbits of information! Personally i wanna hit up mononoke forest.
Subscribed :)
Thanks to this, I want to see a studio Ghibli adaptation of beauty and the beast.
Do you wanna party?" - I died
Also, are you sure it's pronounced "jibli"? Because I'm pretty sure 'gh' is always read as a hard 'g'. Gallagher, Ghana, ghost, ghetto...
I'm pretty sure he's correct. Most people I hear pronouncing Ghibli are doing it wrong by saying "Gibli". The word actually is Italian and is pronounced "Gibli" there, but in Japan "gh" is pronounced as "j", so it's pronounced "Jibli".
I suppose we need a Japan expert here
PaperFlyer77
I didn't think a Japanese film studio would have an Italian name.
+ScientistCat found this on Wikipedia:
»The name Ghibli was given by Hayao Miyazaki with reference to the Caproni Ca.309 Ghibli.[4] The Italian noun "ghibli" is based on the Libyan-Arabic name for the sirocco, or Mediterranean wind, the idea being the studio would "blow a new wind through the anime industry".[4][5] Although the Italian word is pronounced with a hard ɡ, the Japanese pronunciation of the studio's name is with a soft g, [dʑíbu͍ɾi]«
PaperFlyer77 Well, then 'jibli' is also wrong, you're supposed to pronounce it "Studio Jibuli"
But that would be silly, of course. o3o
Just came to the channel and love I subbed.
this is my first ghibli movie and i was impressed , it was certainly very interesting to watch and such an epic story telling , i was wanted it to continue later on , so much
Wow this was great! Please continue this awesome series!
My top 15 Ghibli movies are like:

3-Nausicaa
4-Howls moving castle
5-Laputa
6-Ponyo
7-Totoro
8-Pompoko
9-From up on poppy hill
10-Whisper of the heart
11-Princess Kaguya
12-Grave of fireflies
13-Kikis delivery

15-The cat returns
Yes, i watched all the Ghibli movies many times, and there's at least 15 that is so great to mention.
Bruh what about Porco Rosso that's way better than Spirited Away
Actually the first time i have seen this movie, it scared the crap outta me for some reason. At the same time, it fascinated me so much, i watched it many times more and now its one of my fav movies
1)Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
2)Princess Mononoke
3)Pom Poko (If you read the pattern you can tell I'm an Environmentalist)
I am going to this forest. Princess Mononoke is my all time favorite movie by Hayao Myazaki. I am getting my back tattooed as a mural to it. Every little detail has something to do with life and death, man and nature. It's so beautiful. I watch it all the time, and I always find new little symbols, absolutely beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone!
honestly my favtourite ghibly film is spirited away,it just feels nice to me,probably cause its the first ghibly film i saw
If I would have to pick a favorite Studio Ghibli film...I would have to say: All of them!
My favorite of Miyazaki's stories is Spirited Away tied with this one than comes the rest can't choose a fav love all his lol
Thanks for scarring me for life with that scene of a guy being chopped in half definitely suitable for a rated 13 film.....
tHE ARTWORK IN HIS FILMS ARE JUST EPIC
I grew up watching this in japanese as the libraries only had subbed versions of movies.. but i love the english version an i think "scully" and the audio department did good in making her voice.. wolf like..
Same! I used to watch studio ghibli in Japanese when I was just a kid. But I couldn't read so it was kind of like looking at the pictures in a book.
1zin1 Moro's german voice is really good by the way!
Howl's Moving Castle HAS to be my favorite. Ponyo is totally my second favorite.
Princess Mononoke was my favorite movie when i was in elementary school xD
2:53: My katana! Princess Mononokee is a good film to watch. Have the VHS version of it.
Each movie was so different. Princess mononoke was an epic tale. Totoro was a good childhood movie. Spirited Away was dreamy and imaginative. Castle in the Sky and The Valley in (of ?) the sky was a good story with family and friends.
Here are my top 3 favorites:
1. Princess Mononoke
2. Spirited Away
3. Castle in the Sky
I think you mean "Nausicaä of the valley of the wind" because there's no Ghibli named "valley in/of the sky"
Eyyy! Me 2
My favorite movie from Studio Ghibli, and one of my favorite movies!
tbh princess mononoke IS THE MY FAVORIT CUZ ITS THE BEST!!!!!!!
Ok just one question how come the deer gods face looks like something out of a vodoo shop??
It's (apart from the story) because of the plastic animation paper, that the movie is so great. Hand drawn pics are just more epic. That is why todays animated movies completely lack having a "soul". They don't have this love and character anymore that movies drawn on plastic animation papers have/had.
Mononoke is my favorite.
I actually watched this movie when I was seven. I loved it!!!!!!!
The animation and story just enchanted me.
i'v watched it at 6 or 7, and now my brother who is 8 years old do it also and it's his favorite movie.
I agree, the movie is not receipted in the same way when you are a child and when you grow, but i don't think it's a problem to watch it young :)
Princess Mononoke is definitely my favorite Studio Ghibli movie.
1:31 I never saw the english version of the movie and I legitly thought that was the voice for a second lol
0:29 - 0:34
That's not entirely true. Ponyo, which came out 11 years later, also used traditional animation cells.
Nausicaa Valley of the Wind, is one of my favorite movies of alllll timmeee! :D
Favorite Studio Ghibli film is a tie between Grave of the Fireflies and Princess Mononoke.
Porco Rosso is My favorite! Thank you for
This video
I want to see the stage play! Why did it have such a limited run?
Thank you 4 this upload!!! ps can u do Fist of the Northstar???
I would love to see a live action version of this movie but, I believe that it would be very hard for them to do it right. Many movies do tend to butcher the very art they try to bring to the big screen.
