  • Despite being without power at her own home when the January ice storm struck, Chelsy Navarro knew there was something she could do to help her community. As owner and operator of Chacha’s Hawaiian Grill on Coburg Road in Eugene, Chelsy wanted to help the helpers who were out in the elements by giving them a hot meal. What those first responders and line workers didn’t know was that the person feeding them had a mountain of medical bills piling up at home. Serendipitously, Chelsy was approached by Dr. Pilar Bradshaw, who wanted to support her efforts to feed community members hard hit by the storm. When they connected, Dr. Bradshaw learned of Chelsy’s rare medical condition and her financial situation. Inspired and touched by her story, Dr. Bradshaw launched a GoFundMe page to raise money to help offset Chelsy’s medical bills.
