I'm an avid Videogame nerd who used to enjoy books up until about ten years ago or so (the last major series I finished reading was Harry Potter). But for the past couple of weeks I strangely feel the urge to read more books and accidentally came across booktube and this channel. I was instantly hooked due to your energy, enthusiasm and passion for books which reminded me of how I used to adore books back in the days (I'm 31 btw). Have been watching your recommended videos from today morning and i compiled a list of YA books as fiction/fantasy is my favorite genre. Just ordered 10 books from Amazon hoping i would enjoy the journey as I used to be. Thankyou for your support Hannah...
Ever since school started back up, I’ve read nothing but textbooks - I’m so jealousy but these videos are what get me through ! I’m already making the longest winter break book list.. I love these videos
Hannah, you are my all time favorite booktuber! I’ve never been much of a reader till I discovered you here. You introduced me to so many new books and genres, and now all I do is read. I love you sosoosososososos much!!!❤️❤️
Ahhhhhh Devil in the White City is great. It's about the architects of the Chicagos world fair, and also the serial killer H.H. Holmes who used the fair to his advantage. Its technical and narrative and I love it. (Maybe because serial killers and Architecture are both passions of study for me lol) plus Larson's writing is incredible
Devil in the White City is really good! It is a mystery-thriller but it's also a nonfiction book! There is a lot of technical information in it about the Chicago world's fair so if you're not expecting it, it might really throw you. It reads like a very descriptive, literary textbook. (But the mystery-thriller bits are really suspenseful and action packed) I highly recommend
This library book haul seriously seems like the most amazing place ever. All the books are in such great condition! I kind of love that you don't want to know much about the book before diving in - I feel similarly. I generally check for horror themes and certain things like that because I just don't *do* those, but other than that I love jumping in with little expectation or knowledge.
I've read Frederick Backman, Britt Marie and My grandmother both are amazing. Currently reading A man called Ove and love it so much definitely suggest. I know this video is old but I love watching you! Hope you enjoy the books.
Angelfall is one of my favorite books of all time! The story was dark and twisted but at the same time hilarious because of the banters between the 2 main leads. Give it a chance. It's soooo good! I love RaffRyn so much!
HANNAH! It doesn't have to do anything with this video but I've just read Clockwork Princess... and it destroyed me. Thank you so much for calling your channel after this series and making me read it because of that
We read Miss Peregine's Home for Peculiar Children for school and it was so much fun. Our teacher decided to pick this book, other teachers normally read veryyy boring books with their classes. I recently finished the last book of the series and I love it!
i completely feel you- ive cried the two times i've seen van gogh in a museum, in LA and munich, it's so so moving. he's my favorite artist, but i've never read a book about him. maybe i'll pick up sunflowers
Oh my God, If We Were Villains is one of my like top 5 books of all time. The writing style is beautiful, the characters and their relationships are all incredibly complex and well thought out, and it took me on one of the most intense emotional rollercoasters a book has ever taken me of. I love all these characters and their relationships so so much and this book has some of the most beautiful, visually stunning scenes I've ever read. It also subverts a lot of tropes, which is really refreshing. You should definitely put it at the top of your list! I'm so excited you picked it up!
Eeek I first read the secret history in high school and LOVED IT. I did have to re-read it to understand some of the references (13yrold me didn't know who plato was lol) and it's still one of my all time favourites today
Yessss so many good books! I love Devil in the White City and Erik Larson. It’s nonfiction but reads like a novel and it is set in the same era as Night Circus. It’s also really well-researched. Can’t wait to see what you think!
Everything i never told you is an amazing book. its so underrated and has so much symbolic meaning and its such an intricate story. Its in my top 3 favorites of absolutely all time.
Angelfall was the biggest surprise in YA I ever had. I bought the first book just because it was very cheap and I heard smth before about this book and I wasn't thrilled to read it, cuz come on - angel wings on the cover...BUT, this trilogy was SO GOOD! I will read anything this author decides to write.
The Secret History became my favorite book I read in 2016, I hadn’t realized until I’d started reading it that I hadn’t felt excited about a book in awhile and just a few chapters gave me that feeling I’d been missing. Love it!
"Sing, Unburied, Sing" was my favorite book of 2017. It got Jesmyn Ward her second National Book Award and she deserved it. It's very Literature with a capital L. (I love that, tho. 😂) I hope you enjoy it!
Ok.... this is an advice about Angelfall. Not spoilers Well, Angelfall is the first book ever published by Susan Ee so the book it's not really surprising about the writing and can be a little boring at first, BUT the book has a good story and the other 2 books are better. You can get to see the autor getting better and better with the other books. So please... PLEASE don't give up with the trilogy because of Angelfall. I promise it'll be better. You'll be angry, and sad, and happy, and frustrated... just, DON'T give up. 😀😗
Someone else who defends Angelfall! It just bugs me that it's advertised as YA, because a lot of people run away from it thinking it's even close to the storyline of Hush Hush :D
@@elinamauno8833 I know right? I don't even like Hush Hush.... if they where the same I would never read the trilogy. Also maybe it's about angels but it has nothing to do with hush hush or Daughter of smoke and bone or Shadowhunters... It's a different story.
If you love Van Gogh, you may enjoy “Van Gogh’s Ear”. It’s a book that was turned into a BBC documentary. It follows his life and why he cut off his ear. The author of the book is an art historian and on the tv programme it shows when she found out the real reason about the ear and she was so so happy!
OMG ANGELFALL I SCREAMED. Warning, World After is a bit of a filler book, but I did overall really love that series. It was dark and interesting and I loved the characters.
It’s a great book but sadly it’s often lumped together with Twilight and Hush Hush which is a shame because they are very different books. (I have nothing against Twilight or Hush Hush)

I really struggled with Angelfall. It was an interesting take on the story and the meeting between the two leads was good, but I have to keep putting it down and picking it up again.
For my birthday my best friend bought me The Art of Hearing Heartbeats (mostly because the main character and I have the same name, but also because she thought I would like it). I absolutely loved it but I haven't heard anyone talk about it but it's SOOO GOOD
I finished If we were villains a few months ago and I absolutley loved it! but you really need to get into it without knowing anything before and it's full of suspense and emotions!
‘We Were Villains’ and ‘The Secret History’ are both amazing books but they are have similar premises (exclusive colleges, toxic friendships and murder) so to enjoy them both it’s probably best to leave a good long gap between reading them!
I just bought Summer Bird Blue. I LOVED Starfish and it’s so nice to see biracial rep. I also bought Devil in the White City (months ago). It’s very history forward. I’m going to have to try it again when I’m in a specific mood. I have the Miss Peregrine series (only read book one, but it’s really good). LANDLINE IS GREAT (as is anything by Rainbow Rowell :))! I don’t think I have any of the others. Nice haul!
Did you know the Getty Museum in LA has some Van Gogh? It's such a fantastic museum. If you've never been, I HIGHLY recommend you check it out next time you're out there!
Eunha Kim ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ is beautiful!!! The only other book I’ve read of his was ‘The Kite Runner’ it made me so mad though, so would love some recommendations of some of his other work!!
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats is AMAZING. As a children's librarian I rarely take the time to read adult fiction, but I had heard so many people at the library raving about how good it is, so I had to try it. It offers a new perspective on things and was a very exciting read because of it. I hope you'll like it! n_n
your videos always make me so happy. you have a beautiful personality and i appreciate everything you aren’t even aware that you have done for me. i hope you are having a lovely day, hannah!
OH wow! So happy with these videos. Btw I screamed that you picked up Everything I Never Told You. I read it last summer and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the style of the book. That book made me feel seen in so many ways. I’m beyond hyped to meet the author soon here at the upcoming Miami Book Fair.
Hannah you're so beautiful! I also love Van Gogh! My mom is an art teacher, so I've always grown up learning about him because of how much she loves him. He's definitely an interesting artist to study
I don't know if you'll read this but thanks to your videos I found a book I fell in love with! We had to choose a book to read for class, and I have a hard time picking up books, but I love reading. I watched one of your favorites, and you introduced me to Rebecca! That book has truly become one of my favorites of all time so thank you so much! Your channel has motivated me to read more, and you're truely a blessing! ♡♡
Just as a thing, you might want to read Britt-Marie after My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry. Technically they’re companion novels, and Britt-Marie is sort-of the sequel. I actually read Britt-Marie first and was able to enjoy My Grandmother, but things make more sense the other way around. Glad you’re getting into Backman! He’s such a gem :)
Love your face!! I scored at goodwill this weekend, I got Britt Marie was Here, A Man Called Ove, and My Grandmother Told Me to Tell You Shes Sorry and I paid $2.99 for all 3!! I can never pass up a good deal.
oh angelfall! i really havent seen that book around in a while! i had so much fun reading that book, yes i did read it back in Those Ya Times, but i remember thinking it was really refreshing compared to all that was out then. the characters were very amusing and had nice chemistry and the plot and setting are actually really really dark and interesting. still to this day i haven't read a book quite like angelfall. i think you'll enjoy your time reading it. i really actually would love to reread it.
Most of these are on my tbr but I did a few more. :) Can't wait to hear your option on the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar series as that has became a new favorite series of this year.
My college had a bookswap and since the books were free (you can take 3 books, more if you leave a book) I decided to try a genre I usually don't like. So I picked up a romance book - Quarantine by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc -and it wasn't until I left that I realized it was an ARC. And I feel kind of bad but it wasn't sold/brought just given away... also it says "uncorrected proof" on it and I know that means it might be full of mistakes and that my experience reading it will probably be different from someone else who read the polished & published version :/
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the Miss Peregrine trilogy (series? As you say, there is another on the way). For me, it felt far too familiar, and while the beginning of the first book was undoubtedly compelling, the rest didn't impress me. The pictures are definitely the best part.
omg I bought 'the art of hearing heartbeats' for the cover too! my edition is red and has warm accent tones and I've literally never picked it up since buying it from a thrift store. I just stare at its beautiful spine on my shelf😂💕
I'm so excited you're going to read The Secret History! I just picked it up too and don't know much about it other than dark academia. Looking forward to hearing what you think :)
Don't know if I've reccommended this to you before or not, but if you want more books based off of Iran and Iranian people, I'd suggest Song of a Captive Bird by Jasmin Darznik. It's a novel about the poet Forugh Farrokzhad trying to make a name for herself in a literary world dominated by men and the writing is so, so gorgeous. It includes some of her poetry and feminist ideals from the early 20th century. I think you'd like it a lot!
The Secret History is wonderful-and I unreservedly recommend Tarot’s recent book The Goldfinch, which destroyed me, put me back together, and repeated this. Not giving anything away, it is one of the best books I have ever read. 💜
I really liked the Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children series. It was just fascinating. The Secret History was a very surrealist read for me. For future books, I strongly reccomend The Constellation of Vital Phenomena. It is just a beautiful, dreamy read
I feel the same way I’ve been reading what is popular or “hyped up” and I’m ready to switch things up a bit! Maybe I’ll start with rainbow Rowell I have yet to read her!!
If you want a good mystery thriller, you should read the Pines series by Blake Crouch. It's so good! I literally binge read the whole series in four days.
I just finished PS I Still Like You and I enjoyed it more than the first book. I care a lot more about the characters now and I'm looking forward to getting the third book.
I just read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell you She’s Sorry at the beginning of the month. Definitely recommend reading prior to Britt-Marie was Here. I think they are in a shared universe and the events of Britt-Marie happen after Grandmother. Love Fredric Bachman.
I haven't read The Devil in The White City yet but I want to really soon!! It takes place at the Chicago World's Fair which I love learning about and I'm from Chicago so I'm really excited about it. I've heard really good things :)
I’m actually reading the art of hearing heart beats right now. I also knew next to nothing about the book when I picked it up at a used book store, I only remembered my English teacher in tenth grade saying that it was her favorite book and she was one of the best teachers
Definitely have to look into Fake Blood! I have Landline as well but haven’t gotten around to it, I’ve had such a hard time getting into reading and keep buying books for some reason 🤦🏻♀️
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is one of my favourite books ever! I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it, and I really hope you enjoy it, sorry I'm so weirdly excited for you lol.

I'm so happy to see Britt Marie was here. Read it it one sitting last weekend, it was wonderful!

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats is such a beautiful book! I read it in german and I loved every page. :) Enjoy!
I love the comments on your videos almost as much as the actual videos so many book recs 😍😍😍
I absolutely loved Landline. I suggest reading it during the Winter. It was a really quick read for me. I started and just couldn't put it down.
Oh my God, If We Were Villains is one of my like top 5 books of all time. The writing style is beautiful, the characters and their relationships are all incredibly complex and well thought out, and it took me on one of the most intense emotional rollercoasters a book has ever taken me of. the art och hearing heart beats is really good. It is interesting, moving and I love the writing! I hope you will enjoy it! :)
I have "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" and you might be surprised. It's a love story set in Burma. I was attracted to the cover too!
Everything i never told you is an amazing book. its so underrated and has so much symbolic meaning and its such an intricate story. Its in my top 3 favorites of absolutely all time.
So many books, so little time = #mylife
Jesmyn Ward's book is something that I've been hearing every now and then.
Angelfall was the biggest surprise in YA I ever had. I bought the first book just because it was very cheap and I heard smth before about this book and I wasn't thrilled to read it, cuz come on - angel wings on the cover...BUT, this trilogy was SO GOOD! OH MY GOD THE SECRET HISTORY IS MY FAVEEEEE!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO READ IT ♥️

Thanks for reminding me about "Saffron Kitchen" which I began reading some years ago. Need to find it again. Nice haul . . . Enjoy!
The art of hearing heartbeat is literally the best book I've ever read and it's SOOOO popular in Sweden!!!!!
Ok.... this is an advice about Angelfall. Not spoilers
Well, Angelfall is the first book ever published by Susan Ee so the book it's not really surprising about the writing and can be a little boring at first, BUT the book has a good story and the other 2 books are better.
You can get to see the autor getting better and better with the other books.
So please... PLEASE don't give up with the trilogy because of Angelfall. I promise it'll be better.
You'll be angry, and sad, and happy, and frustrated... just, DON'T give up. 😀😗

I loved Angelfall. 😍 I’m definitely continuing with the series.

It’s a great book but sadly it’s often lumped together with Twilight and Hush Hush which is a shame because they are very different books. (I have nothing against Twilight or Hush Hush)
I screamed too! Lol
I love this series! And the characters
I wasn’t expecting it to be as gory or brutal as it was, but it was overall a good series.
Llpras Lapis I think the issue with Angelfall is that somehow it gets lumped in the YA category, where as I'd say it is very much adult fantasy with a teenage main character. So people expect lovey dovey YA :/
My English teacher in high school read The Art of Hearing Heartbeats and it was her favorite book! She raved about it all the time
The art of hearing heartbeats is amazing!
If we were Villains was my favourite read of this year and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did! Its a beautiful novel💕
The librarian at my school just recommended The Art of Hearing Heartbeats to me! And she and one my teachers of were raving about it!!
I love Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng it’s so underated. I can’t wait to see what you think of it
I really struggled with Angelfall. It was an interesting take on the story and the meeting between the two leads was good, but I have to keep putting it down and picking it up again.
I’m so happy that you hauled some adult books! Always looking for recommendations :)

YAAAAASS it's been a minute since you've done a book haul, I was so exited to watch this! SO many good books that I've never seen or heard of before?!
The Storm Runner sounds so good! And I have heard good things about In the Woods.
The Secret History is wonderful-and I unreservedly recommend Tarot’s recent book The Goldfinch, which destroyed me, put me back together, and repeated this. Not giving anything away, it is one of the best books I have ever read. 💜
The Gods have been pleasing Hannah, because they have blessed us with two videos in one day my life is complete 💖
I really liked the Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children series. It was just fascinating. The Secret History was a very surrealist read for me.
For future books, I strongly reccomend The Constellation of Vital Phenomena. It is just a beautiful, dreamy read
I just recently read the art of hearing heartbeats and I love it so much 😀 I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Your book hauls are my favorite. There’s always a variety and always so many books 😅😆
I feel the same way I’ve been reading what is popular or “hyped up” and I’m ready to switch things up a bit!
Maybe I’ll start with rainbow Rowell I have yet to read her!!
I've read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter... I struggled with the subject matter of that book, but her writing is great.
angelfall!!! it's an old favorite, i love it so much
all these Hannah uploads are making my heart singing and my TBR crying from how much its growing
Loved Angelfall and the entire Penryn and the End of Days trilogy!
If you want a good mystery thriller, you should read the Pines series by Blake Crouch. It's so good! I literally binge read the whole series in four days.
Angelfall was amazing!!!I totally recommend it.Trust me it is nothing like hush hush.
If We Were Villains is incredible! I just finished it and I was so blown away!
I just picked up Fake Blood because i love Whitney Gardner and you just got me so stoked to read it.
I’m really enjoying it, or just takes some time to get into the beef of the plot
I hope you'll like Landline as much as I do. It's a really touching story of young love and difficulties of marriage.
Definitely have to look into Fake Blood! I have Landline as well but haven’t gotten around to it, I’ve had such a hard time getting into reading and keep buying books for some reason 🤦🏻♀️
Bry S. Saaame girl. We'll get to our books eventually haha!
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is one of my favourite books ever! I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it, and I really hope you enjoy it, sorry I'm so weirdly excited for you lol.
