- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Rodney William - doctor in social sciences, anthropologist, author, columnist and babalorixá (male priest of the candomblé religion) - talks the spectator through his journey to become a doctor in the social sciences and discusses his most recent book, Apropriação Cultural (Cultural Appropriation). Conversation unpacks issues relating to the history of samba in opposition to Bossa Nova and religious intolerance, unveiling some of the mysteries and ethos that guide the African-base religions in Brazil.

Greetings from Russia. Thank you for this interview with eng.subtitles. We are playing Samba and try to dive deep and we are Russian Rasta. You know we are Slaves - russians, serbians, bulgarians. We got to fight against Babylon. We are very intersted in cultural exchanges, we also have our culture roots far away and seem inferior, most of us really shamefull of being russian, of being slave. So the root religion here, the Christian Orthodoxy, is always scoffed here in a high-class or those who thinks they are much clever than an ordinary men. All the 20th century it was really dangerous to admit yourself as an Orthodox, most of the faithfull men were killed. So now we got to rediscover and reinvent ourselves and to grow something like a respect to ourselves, which is really hard, because, you know, only the british and americans are the real prestige. What a shame! We want to play Samba and sing with our words, on our language. Because we feel it as our origins too, we are africans and we salute you even if our skin is white as snow. It doesnt matter because we have nothing with racism. We dont look at any type of skin. Peace.
Saudações do Brasil axé !🇧🇷❤
Muito Obrigada. Adorei a aprender com este video. Sou antropóloga, o colega explica de uma forma tao bom. Thank you very much. I loved to learn with this video. I am an anthropologist, the colleague explains things wonderfully. Axé!
Perfeito, explica muito bem questões ligadas ao racismo estrutural, apropriação cultural e intolerância religiosa.
Wonderful! I just found out about this series, and I am very excited to see all of them. I had never heard of Dr. William until I watched this. That in itself points to why it is so important to tell Brazil's untold story, both inside and outside of Brazil's borders. Thank you so much for posting this excellent production.
