Omg I just made these and they're AMAZING! Instead of malt powder I used an extra 10g cocoa powder and 10g self raising flour and they came out perfectly :) also gently mixed some Oreos chopped into quarters into the mixture instead of putting one in the bottom of each pan so you get surprise chunks of Oreo throughout and it is so bloody good
hi. i noticed in the recipe she uses more sugar than the butter, plus the Oreo cookies are already very sweet, did you find the cupcake together with the icing too sweet for your liking? I am still doubting to make the cupcakes because I am afraid it will be too sweet. do help me out here! thanks

Jemma!!!!! I just made this cupcakes last friday and it turned out AMAZING as in super amazing! I've tried tons of recipes here in youtube with multiple youtuber chef stars but it didnt turned out well. So disappointed!👎..but you? Wow! I must say you are the best fairygod cupcake ever! I used Milo Malt chocolate drinking powder and it tastes so chocolatey! using malt powder brings out the chocolate flavor than just using plain cocoa. This recipe is so soft and fluffy! Hi Jemma, Just wanted to say that my 2 year old loves you! She watches you everyday and everytime we are baking your cakes she tells me to 'watch jemma' to see what ingredient goes in next. Love all your recipes x
I just made it today, without malt powder, but with more 15g flour. They were sooo yummy. For me the buttercream is too sweet, so i just eat without it. Thanks for this amazing recipe. :)
These came out sososo good!! For the malt powder, I used MILO powder and they were such a hit!! ❤ Also instead of using buttercream, I just mixed Oreo crumbs into whipped cream frosting :)) Thank you so much for this recipe, Jemma!!
Hello Jemma. I'm from Brazil and I got to say that when you put these little balloons on the corner of your videos with the ingredients wrote in it this really helps me 'cause sometimes I can't understand what you are saying. So please continue to do that on your next videos!
my 15 year old son just made these, a little rough in terms of decoration, but utterly delicious. These recipes are really good, sure fire and well thought out.
HUGE TIP: for the buttercream DONT put the Oreos in a bag and bash with rolling pin, use a food processor! I bashed them up for ages and it wouldn't pipe onto my cakes because bits of cookie kept getting completely stuck in the piping nozzle! Had to empty the bag and change nozzles three times, very messy - and in the end had to just spoon it on! They taste delicious but don't look as good as these. I'd definitely use a food processor next time
Just looked up a simple recipe and you appeared and oh my DEVINE, these cupcakes look out of this world, I'm dying to try your red velvet, unicorn and these bad boys! Thank you so much for sharing! My mouth is watering..
I tried these a couple weeks ago and they were amazing! I'm 15 and planning on opening my own cupcake cafe here in hereford (near wales). You are one of my biggest inspirations!
Hi Gemma This is my first comment and apologise for taking this long to write a comment as I have been following your UA-cam channel since the pandemic. I have made chocolate, vanilla and carrot cupcake following your recipes and I have got best compliments for my cupcakes. A huge thank you to you. 🙏
I just used 100 grams of regular flour because there was no malt powder in my local market. Still tastes really good. People loved it!! I would just reduce the amount of butter by like half a table spoon but other than that it tastes really good.
Made these today and tasted just ok without the frosting; I made a swiss meringue oreo cookie buttercream and once combined with frosting, the cupcake tasted really good. For those of us in the USA, here are my conversions as I weighed ingredients and then transferred to my measuring cups (the baking powder was added because we don’t have self-raising flour): 2/3 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/3 cup malt powder 2 Tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder 2/3 cup sugar 1/4 tsp baking soda Pinch of table salt 12 Tbs of unsalted butter 2 eggs 1 Tbs and 1/2 whole milk 1/4 tsp of vanilla
Love this recipe and have made them many times. Last time I wanted a something a bit different and decided to omit the vanilla in the cake and frosting and added mint extract instead and they were REALLY good. Mint oreo cupcakes.
I sprinkle more Oreo dust on top of the cupcake because one can never have too much Oreo... I also use the mini Oreo's on the top. or I break the big ones in half because they can be a bit heavy if you use less buttercream. PS: Delicious. Love this channel!
Jemma... you're the Ace of cupcakes! completely in love with you and your cakes! wish I could buy your book... but I'm from Brazil, so it's kind of complicated... thank God you have this channel! and you're so cute that sometimes I just wish I could hug you! lol (I'm not crazy... promise =p)
I would have liked to see the inside of this cupcake, so that I could see the cookie ob the bottom. The dough looked so good, very cool colour! Does it come from that malt powder?
I was a little skeptical about using self rising flour versus cake flour in the recipe. However it turned out marvelous!!! Superrrrr delicious moist and fluffy. In america self rising flour already has salt so i will skip out on adding the extra salt next time.
Kirsten Tildon Well, it is a cupcake :P Cupcakes tend to be very sweet whereas muffins are more savoury. But in terms of cupcakes in general, the Oreo cupcake is especially sweet. If you want something with a little less sweetness, a red velvet cupcake or vanilla cupcake might be more up your street :)
.....umm...Caoimhe Burke I seems you have slightly misunderstood my comment...You see I was referring to the amount if sugar that she used. I have no problem with it being sweet. I like sweet things. I was just merely mentioning how much sugar was in them. . .
