    This is genius. Super simple concept. Almost too simple that I never thought of it as a system like this, but a lot of my favorite fills follow this logic. Great work!!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ

      I started out the same as you with my fills and then I was like why not apply this to every pattern I know, and here we are. Thanks for your compliment Matt!!

    How long have you been drumming for? I don’t play drums myself but I still enjoy watching your videos. There’s things to learn for every musician. Wish I could play drums though!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому +1

      Hey I've been playing for 15 years. True that, I learn more from non drummers nowadays. Well you could pick up the drums for cheap with an electronic kit. If you do, let me know :)

    How come you don't have that much subscribers? Your contents are pure gold! General audience just want flashy drummers. You are a better teacher and good at technically breaking down drum parts. I have a question though, are those Roland V-Drums you're using? How durable are they compare to acoustic drums? Thanks!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому

      I'm using a Roland TD30K. It's actually really durable and I've been using them for 2 years and they show almost no signs of wear. Thank you for the kind words anyway :)

      @@ArtOfDrummingHQ Oh okay 'coz I've been thinking if I'm going to buy edrums or stick to acoustic and I can't practice since I live in an apartment and I don't want my neighbors to get angry at me haha. Thanks for your reply and I'll be waiting for your upcoming videos! More power!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому +1

      Oh I bought this for the same reasons too, angry neighbors. love the td30k so far. It's pretty damn close to playing on an acoustic. Doesn't make me miss playing on an acoustic too. But it's $7000 after all haha. I doubt the lower end models will feel so remarkable.
      Still I'd take practice over not being able to practice any day :)

    Hi, your approach to transcription songs is super great. Because of it I subscribed on your channel, but teaching...emm... youtube is already full of drum teachers. PS. Your album is very tasteful))

    Man!!! I love how you play that RLKK pattern. You’re killer!!!! Are you starting the RLKK pattern on the downbeat? Also, I see that you don’t start the pattern with, “RL”, instead, it’s, “RK”. Why is that??

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому +2

      Yes I'm starting on beat 2. And that first right hand, I was supposed to start with L ... Into KKR. Like the rest of the lick but I made a mistake actually by playing RKKR the first set. Oops. Just know that it was supposed to be LKKR all the way starting on the downbeat, well spotted!

    • @StuartJrBarrett
      @StuartJrBarrett 5 років тому

      Art Of Drumming HQ thanks!! It still sounded great 👍🏾!! I love how you make you licks feel good. I struggle with placing them evenly in a song or a groove. Any suggestions for working on subdivisions??

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому +1

      Use different kinds of click tracks, 1. Just the quarter note click
      2. All subdivisions click
      3. Missing bars/beats (for example click only on beat 1)
      It really helps to isolate the particular weak subdivision, or pattern or fill or groove. To identify the exact culprit and fix that first and nothing else. Sometimes it's not the subdivision but maybe one of those other things getting in your way of placing the fill perfectly.
      Hope that helps!

    For the last one does it have to be double kick or can it just be one

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  3 роки тому

      Yes go ahead and use a pattern you like, if double kick isn't your thing here :)

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ

    Amazing!!!!!!!! How would I work
    On 32 notes and coming up with patterns?? I’m struggling with these

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому

      Are 32nd notes new to you? can you elaborate more on your question so I can help you out. You can also Check my most recent video for building useful drumming vocabulary. It explains a bit on what patterns to come up with in the first place, hope it helps!

    • @StuartJrBarrett
      @StuartJrBarrett 5 років тому

      Art Of Drumming HQ i need help knowing how to play them against a pulse and also how to come up with patterns.

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  5 років тому +1

      Definitely do them really slowly at 40-50bpm, and use a click with all 32nd subdivisions if you need that extra guide. As for coming up with patterns, you just have to decide a 1-3 to try out first, copying others. And once you have a good feel for those you'll know better what to look for. Hope this helps, ask away if you need to clarify more!

    dont know why and how i ended up watching when i said i believed you

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      The people who watch this either don't believe me and want to prove my bullshit wrong, or they're neutral and might come in and learn a thing or two or not. Or they believe me enough to become my subscribers and watch my content regularly. Or they believe me so convincingly because it's what they themselves believe in and become my ragtag army of drummers, musicians and others who then go and affect the rest of their communities spreading this belief. And the last group of elite people become my patrons because they believe so convincingly that they want to do everything in their means to help spread this channel's beliefs. Because we all believe that this will do good for the world and we're all building something much larger than ourselves. That's what I believe in.
      Beliefs are truly powerful right? Hahaha :)
