He is a straight-up psychopath. He's cold, superficially charming, emotionally flat, and logical.
You can see it when he hugs his own mother. She's clinging onto him. He is standing there pretending to reciprocate because he has learned that is what he was supposed to do, and so he is devoid of the appropriate gratitude and emotion.
You can see it when his bulldog is THRILLED to see him and he just sort of squats down...aloof... obligatorily petting the ecstatic dog who it is CLEAR he cares nothing about, or he'd be showing the appropriate degree of emotion.

Doing an internet search for chloroform, offering a woman he knew to another sadist for money, having lunch with a woman he had mentally targeted, neglecting his wife to the point she suspected he was having an affair, all screams obsession to me. I honestly believe that if his wife hadn't found out and left him, he was working up the "courage" to act out his fantasies. As a cop with access to the data base, a badge, and a cop car I believe his first target would have been a prostitute. That's who serial killers tend to target. And he most likely would've gotten away with it. The way he kept trying to justify his behavior and downplay it was super creepy, too. Well, he won't dare act on his depraved thoughts now. I hope.

Yeah his actions point towards plans more than thought and I wouldn't want him around any female personally but I can't judge someone for fantasy and pretend I'm 110% certain he's going to go through with it because it's fantasy. There's millions upon millions of peopme with sick disgusting fantasies but how many actually do it? Sometimes people get caught up in their erotic ploys but alot dont act on it through conciousness. There's no right or wrong opinion on this because it's EXTREMELY borderline but in the end without action It's like saying Stephen King should be in jail for writing what he wrote. Talking about his wife: "she's a sweet girl, I like her a lot, but I will move on". That casual "I will move on" after fantasizing about kidnapping and killing and eating her is quite telling how he doesn't even consider her family and friends and how they'd be impacted by her death, let alone consider his wife's feelings. I know that psychopath/sociopath gets tossed around a lot online but I do think he has antisocial personality disorder. Also, I'm convinced that the wife WAS in a certain amount of danger while living with him

My daughter is a psychopath. Clinical psychopath. She beat me up, cut herself and told the cops I did it. I lost the 5k I'd just put the day before for a house for us. She never paid the rent and destroyed the property so I'm on the hook about 12k. The state picked up the charges and max is 15 years I've never been more angry in my life and so, I understand when you say challenge those thoughts immediately, yes. I have gobe down some very very dark roads with this. I'm doing my best to grab those thoughts and tell myself "no." There are limits. It doesn't take the desire for retribution. It's my kid but I can't feel past this burning hatred. She ruined my life bc she could. It's been really hard to control, especially in the beginning. Even now, careful. I call my mind a cave. I place a thought dragon at the mouth of the cave. Thoughts go through the dragon first. Is it negative or dark or self depricating? No entry! I had to do this visualization a lot at first, but now it's second nature to get rid of those thoughts. Maybe it can help someone else too? Your mental health matters. This didn't just happen. It's a matter of the base thought and then you're just turning up the violence bc just like with drugs, you need more, stronger, to get off. This does not just happen. It started in his mind. We have to control ourselves.
