I'm already driving a Duramax Diesel 2.8 Colorado (the asian/global version), and I gotta say, it's a great truck; fuel saving, very torquey, but very quiet and comfortable, I just wish we have gotten the same fascia.
would you mind sharing the numbers? I've been interested in the diesel since gm announced the petrol truck. suppose they might be different but at least close
Yeah, for us, it's 500Nm for the torque, 193hp, and I'm using up round 10.2litre for each 100km highway driving. I guess you would have to convert the numbers to your metric systems. You can go on the Malaysian website to get more accurate numbers, this is the download link for their brochure. www.chevrolet.com.my/file/download/brochure/colorado-muscle-power.pdf Ours are called the muscle edition. Mine's a 2014.
+Bong Jensen I understand the fuel mileage because I'm canadian.. was sort of hoping for better numbers but that doesn't sound bad. my civic does about 6.0L/100 km in average conditions which is about 38mpg.. not sure what 10.2 would be but I know it's better than the avalanche I had which got about 14L/100km
I just did a conversion, 10.2 would translate round to 24mpg, highway driving, which I'm happy with, especially since you get a very torquey truck compared to the Isuzu D-max we have here, which, is a completely different truck when it comes to fc even though the two share the same chassis. Too bad they discontinued the avalanche though, it seemed very functional.
I picked up my Colorado LT Duramax 2 days ago! I was super excited Driving home from the dealer and I got 27 mpg! The drive was only 20 miles though but I had quite a bit of traffic, and all I have done since is some city driving in whole about 40 miles, but the trip computer has me at about 21 mpg. I am going to take a trip from Austin down to Corpus Christi (which there is generally a lot of wind on that drive) this weekend, and I will let you guys know my round trip mileage when I get back! Until then, I have to let you all know that I am very impressed with the truck so far! It seems to be everything I need in a little pickup!
This truck makes me sad... sad that toyota and nissan have done nothing to innovate there tacoma and frontiers. If that duramax puts up good mpg's, might have to switch to the bowtie.
Toyota has done a lot with the new Tacoma. The trd off-road has the crawl and multi terrain select feature as well as a an onboard pitch and roll meter. Not to mention they improved upon the hilux transmission. The approach angle of a Colorado is less than a Camry! How is that capable off-road?!?
its a the taco has an "update" trd has always been a great off road machine, but all they did to "change" it was putting soccer mom suv mulit-terrain. it didnt pick up mpgs, didnt get a hp/trq increase and got uglier inside and out. Oh, and this duramax with a lift kit is still cheaper than a new trd. Ill even let you saw off that BS spoiler on the GM
+EpiclyLost the Tacomas new v6 picked up 42hp and it gained Mpg's an your so called moms multi terrain is superior to any bill shit Chevy could come up with. And I highly doubt a lifted and modded Colorado cost less than an trd off road Tacoma. Go back to school or stop smoking that shit bc you're obviously high.
Robert Conway 2016 Toyota Tacoma double cab TRD sport 4x4 no options - $35,280 (toyota.com/build - with $900 delivery to SD, CAL) 2016 Chevy Colorado crew cab LT 4x4 no options - $33,430 (chevy.com/build - with $895 delivery to SD, CAL) Difference of $1850 for a lift (4wheelparts) from bilstein 5100's for $500, 1.5 inch blocks at $150, (tirerack) 33" General Grabber AT2 set of 4 at $581.00, with $619 left for lights or sliders. I must give it to you though, the 3.5 does now make 275hp over the 236hp of the 4.0. But The Duramax makes 369tq to your 265tq. Do you doubt now?
+Goliath X this is a friend of Robert, if you honestly believe a truck built primarily not in America is better when every statistic makes your Chevy obsolete, you clearly need to do some research, sincerely a Ford buff
we've been enjoying our diesels here in asia. we have the colorado also, but the engine is 200hp and 500nm of torque. put some tuning chip, now makes 252ho and 605nm of torque! this thing does burnouts effortlessly lol.
you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother these days :)
Trail? Uh... No. It needs some Ground Clearance for that. That means some Lift and some bigger tires, with all terrain tires. It needs to stand like a Toyota Tacoma, not an Equinox.
Toyotas are Over Rated and Under Powered. But they look like what a Light Truck needs to look like. They have the right stance and the right size. It's a good pattern to improve on. I would still like to see a V-8 version of the Colorado.
+bobwatters Bob, Don't forget the huge rebates you get on the full size 1/2 tons...GMC right now is knocking 10 grands off it's Sierra if you qualify for all the rebates. I think the Silverado has about 7 grand in rebates...as opposed to $500 to $1000 on the Colorado.. 42k for a Colorado??? are these guys ever going to stand up and ask why pickups are getting so damn expensive???
Just read triggernutsy's comments and have to say I'm amazed their are still people that ignorant when it comes to the whole Japanese truck thing. I have owned an S-10, It was a good truck but by 100 k it was feeling old even with reg maintainance..my friend had multiple Rangers and the same thing. I bought an 87 Toyota pickup with 181k on it...drove it until I sold it with 252k, Still running beautifully and getting me close to 20 mpg, and that truck was solid, well built and dependable as hell. Say what you want about the current crop...but the 80-90s Toyotas are UNMATCHED for Toughness, reliability and off road performance.
The great thing about the internet is you can come on, say that the Yugo was a horrible car, and yet someone always has one with 300k miles that has never had an issue...therefore all of them must have been amazing and reliable. I lived in NorCal, I took my Toyota on the Rubicon, the Hammers, Dusy Ersham, Calico... and I will tell you there are very few 200k plus mile Jeeps running around on those trails...yet they are crawling with 200k plus mile Toyota's. Go On Craigslist in CA, AZ or Texas...anyplace trucks don't rust away and you will see pages of high mileage Yota's and pages of 100k Blazers that look ready for the scrap heap. I had a 93 S-10 with the 4.3 and it was a great truck...but it was showing it's age at 90k...Not the motor or trans...but the interior, the exterior trim, the paint despite the care taken with it. It also suffered a leak from the factory that would make small lakes of the footwells in a storm...GM actually sent a gut from the factory to Boston to reseal the entire cabin. Excellent Cust service, but I was without a truck for a week and it never should have left the factory like that. Toyota's are also ridiculously overbuilt...first gear on a t56 is rated for three times the torque that the engine makes, the gear driven Tcases are used in race buggies...it's not uncommon to see a small block backed with Toyota running gear...You rarely see a v8 jeep stick with Chrystler parts..
I had a 2400 Chevy Scottsdale 4x4 that had over 450,000 miles on it. The thing was an unstoppable tank. Had some maintenance issues here and there. But it never left me stranded or stuck. I miss that rig. 10 MPG average though.
I'm not a Chevy guy. I'm a Ford guy. But I love that GMC/Chevy brought back the mid-sized truck and gave it a diesel. It almost makes me want to go to a dealer and test drive one. But I currently have a solid running 1999 F150 so I don't need a new truck.
The Z71 and Trailboss packages make this a good looking truck...definitely growing on me. Can't wait for yall to do a proper towing test with the Duramax.
I absolutely love mine, bought it off the lot with 310 Miles I have over 18k now and it’s a shy over a year old (2017 Duramax LT crewcab) can’t wait to delete it after I pay it off! I beat friends all the time in there titans and even Tacoma’s on some trails! Cheers 🍻
+Kit Anilapde Unlikely, the Avalanche wasn't selling very well at the end. I personally never saw a reason for the Avalanche even existing other than "just cause".
+stchman the Avalanche was built on the suburban frame and did not ride like a truck. The rear seats fold down and rear windows comes out to extend the bed an extra few feet. The bed sides had locking saddle bags for storage as well. It's a great vehicle for the weekend warrior. Not everyone needs an actual pickup truck
The D-Max motor is built by ISUZU, the biggest global diesel engine manufacturer based in Japan. They have been making diesel engines for 100 years now and are the leaders of the diesel manufacturing world, period. GM has strategically bought into the company as well as Renault-Nissan in Europe. A fantastic accomplishment for a Japanese firm that is not much talked about (eat your heart out Mr Honda!).
So let me get this Straight. This compact pickup weights almost as much as an F-150 (Base 4X4 W/extended cab 4,520 lbs vs 4,683 lbs), has less torque and nearly half the horsepower compared to the 2.7 ecoboost, significantly lower towing and payload capacities, and a higher starting price. And this makes sense how?
+dcl97 Ford have always had better 'bang for your buck' on paper. It's their thing - but some people are brand loyal, and just don't like fords for whatever reason.
No i have a 95 silverado. Best vehicle i ever owned. Had an f150, mustang, tbird, and explorer, all transmissions took shits before 80k. My silverado has 360k and runs like new, pulls a toy hauler that better suited for a 2500. I am a fan of the Ram though, but id probably get a dmax if i needed a heavy duty
Put this into perspective. The last mid sized truck to offer a diesel in North America was the mid to late 70s Dodge D50 and it had an under powered Mitsubishi diesel. In the 80s Chevy and Ford offered diesels in the Ranger and S10 trucks. Chevy was the only company to offer a 1/2 ton truck with a diesel from 1981-1999 (6.2L GM IDI and GM 6.5L IDI-T).
Very cool, I've been patiently waiting for a drive or review of this version. Looking forward to a real review with Ike gauntlet and normal fuel mileage. Thanks.
+22rerunner Yes the GMC Canyon is getting the Duramax too. Talked to dealer yesterday they estimate 8-12 weeks but some dealerships are allowing you to pre-order if you speak to a manager and do some extra paperwork to make sure you buy it.
You sound like you would love the options on Australia! None of your big F series trucks or Silverado's etc, but in what you would call a 'midsize truck with a diesel' you have This (badged Holden Colorado here), Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara, Isuzu Dmax, Volkswagen Amarok, Toyota Hilux, Mazda BT50, Ford Ranger and then a few Korean models too. Pretty much this size truck is available exclusively as a diesel.
Ok, I looked it up because this video is old and the official numbers are now out. The 4wd Colorado gets 20 city, 29 highway and 23 combined, compared to 19/27/22 for the Ram 1500 diesel. Is it worth 4.5% better fuel economy for 33% less power, 14% less torque, and (estimating) 25% less interior and cargo space? I was expecting much less weight and much better economy in the Colorado compared to the trade off in size of the Ram 1500.
+Dog Rule Those only make sense if you want a truck with fewer features. Even the new, lighter F-150 will weigh about the same as this fully loaded diesel Colorado, but it won't have an exhaust brake, trailer brake controller, or the fuel mileage. Nor will the Ram for that matter. To get a Ram or Ford with the same level of equipment you'd be closer to $50k, but with the Ford you wouldn't be able to touch the Colorado or Ram's EcoDiesel's MPG numbers.
+SurelyYewJest If by fewer features you mean more power and payload and way more features, then sure. 1500/150s get all the best technology and value in the industry. Once you spec the trucks out, you spend almost the same for a real truck v. $45k in the hopes you somehow get more gasmileage than the person in the obviously better truck. Unless you absolutely love the smaller frame, it doesn't pan out to buy 3/4 of a 1500
ConquerCollin That's not as cut and dry as you think it is. In terms of more power, the Colorado diesel has almost as much torque as the GM and Ford mid-level V8s. It'll be slower, but the torque is undeniable, and the Colorado/Canyon diesels will get better MPG towing the same load as the full-sizers. The Colorado V6 has equivalent or more power to pretty much any full- or mid-sizer V6 other than GM's own 4.3, and the Colorado/Canyon are significantly lighter trucks with a smaller aero profile. They can also get through tighter spaces off-road. More payload? 500 more in the Chevy (assuming proper config), up to 1500 more in the Ford (depending on config), but potentially LESS (as little as 950 lbs) in the Ram, which has the lowest payload ratings of the Big 3 1500s. The Colorado/Canyon payload hits the market square in the middle at 1600-1700 lbs. As far as towing goes, you have to make sure you get the right rear end ratio in the full-sizers to surpass the Colorado/Canyon. Many of them have gas sipping ratios like 3.08, whereas the Colorado/Canyon come with a 3.42 across the board in the models most suited for towing. Again, I can get a loaded Colorado V6 that can payload ~1600 and tow 7k for $38k. I can't get that in a loaded full-size. I may be able to get a full-size that payloads and tows that much, but it wont have all the other stuff like nav, leather, etc. It's absurd to say there's no price difference. No way a loaded Silverado LTZ or High Country tops out at the $45k I'd spend on a topped-out Colorado diesel. The Silvy will tow a lot more, yes, but it will also cost $8-14k more. This is easily shown by going to their websites and pricing them out.
SurelyYewJest Apples to apples, the Colorado is just a little less on everything. You're trying really hard to justify speccing out a little cheap truck into what will end up as a $40k investment in what should be less than $30k. The only real reason to buy is if the small form factor is the selling point. If you're already going to spend near $40k anyway, then get a mid level 1500 with more space, power and comfort. You can get an ecodiesl if you want MPG, or a Hemi if you want more horsepower, or an F150 if you want somewhere in the middle. All for about the same price. It's like saying if you only spec out your Subaru enough, you can tow almost as well or you can really haul a lot in your new minivan once you fold all the seats down. If you want a real truck for real truck things, buy a real truck. And once those end of year sales come along, you can probably get those leather seats you want. Heck, you might even find a 2500 with cloth that you can buy.
2.8 diesel?! Sweet!!!! i haul dirtbikes and i love diesels but i just don't need 6.6 liters of it to haul a motorcycle trailer. This is great news. Just wish jeep would bring back the comanche.
My first thumbs down on a TFL video. You title this video a review BUT it's more of a preview. Other then hp and torque numbers, the rest if mostly verbal diarrhea (
I agree! No description or information on how it actually feels and drives. It's happening more and more.... A lot of blah blah blah and no substance. Unsubscribed
We've had the Colorado with Duramax II in Australia for a couple of years now. Official figures here are 8.4L/100km combined, 147KW and 440Nm. Towing 3500Kg.
+Charles Burdick (WxWookie) Yeah, I can see 30mpg on the highway not being hard number to get. Heck the Eco-diesel guys are seeing close to that in the ram 1500.
That piece of shit weighs 6,000 lbs?! My new Tundra 4x4 weighs 700lbs less and will tow / haul more with more room and comfort. Also the Tundra was less expensive.
sorry your piece of shit is so heavy. this truck actually weighs about 4500llbs. the gvwr is 6000llbs if you even know what that means. Roman was generalizing with that statement. look at the weight of a RAM 1500
+Chris Arellano according to Ram's website, the same configuration weighs more than my Tundra. I thought Roman actually said the Chevy weighed 6000 lbs which is why I was shocked
+Bailey O. oh jeez, we'll it's only vehicle I've ever had where nothing has broken or gone wrong. Great truck for me. I love Chevy, Ford too but the Yota is doing great
Before watching this video, I would've always stuck with toyota tacomas as the best midsize truck, but after seeing this, chevy's built a damn good truck. If i was of age and had enough money, i'd definitely give it a go. And, Duramax. So much yes.
+ohmanyourecool1 except it's not heavy. it's about 4500llbs. the 6000llbs number he threw out there was a general statement (like the ram 1500 and others which do weight that much). or he simply stated the gvwr of the truck,id you even know what that means
The Men that buy this truck will have to repeatedly explain why they spent 45 grand or more on a truck that doesn't even look kool and is semi capable. I see these in person and even the 4x4's look jacked up in the rear, they are tall and narrow, just looks awkward to me.
+youngblood23rb It is less than 3 inches narrower then a k series Silverado and less than 4 inches for a 2003 and over 6 inches wider than an S-10. Might want to take another look sometime
+youngblood23rb Not everybody wants a huge truck, I had to drive a 2012 Cummins with a 6" lift a couple weeks ago, not for me, too big, bulky and awkward. This thing is perfect for those who want torque and good gas mileage without having to own a 30 foot giant. I do agree with you about the price, that's a little steep, this thing should be around $35k at the most.
I'm already driving the 2.8 Duramax for two years here in Brazil altought here it has 200 cv 51 Kgf torque ... Its a really good engine I just think it ia to noise !!! I would like if this modelo in the usa is noise like ours ...
Ford Asia Pacific produce a "Ranger" that is similar size to your Colorado with a 5 cylinder diesel. It is built in Thailand and sold to over 80 countries and unfortunately the USA isn't one of them for some reason. Similar power figures to the Duramax diesel Colorado (198hp) but the torque is a little meatier.
gm is really smart. there are so many people that do not take care mechanically wise of their vehicle. so when you put people in a position to do scheduled maintenance like fuel filters almost as often as oil changes. also the get in and put it to the floor and go drivers just to name a couple . just means gm will be repairing a lot of these vehicles. why because it's a diesel. good luck.
All things considered, but so far, with the new tacoma coming out, would you wait for this or wait for the tacoma? Surely you've driven the midsize truck market enough to know what you'd spend your money on?
me sorprende verlos sorprendidos por un pickup diesel ...y ustedes se sorprenderan de que yo me sorprendo por ver un pickup gasolina en Panamá.... ustedes quedarían emocionados con el mercado aca
Chevy offering 2.8L with 181HP and 369Tq and 6-Speed, while Ram EcoD offers 3.0L with 240HP and 420Tq and 8-Speed. That's a lot of difference for only 0.2L Displacement. Of course, Chevy provides a Good Console Shifter - instead of the RAM's Silly Twisty-Puck Dash Shifter.
Its cab and chassi were designed in Australia originally for the Holden Colorado the only difference's are the front end and rear taillights and engine
Well i'm not sure about everyone else but I think its about time and cool we finally got a mid size truck with a diesel engine in North America... But that price though...
The chevrolet S-10/Colorado 2.8 l made in brazil and thailand mpg in liters is about 9.5l/100km hwy and about 12.5 l/100km city. With the updatd engine makes 200hp
A niche product that few will actually utilize or even need. I suspect many owners will never actually hook a real payload up to the back, yet still try to convince themselves that getting the diesel made sense. I'd much rather see a slimmed down version in terms of features in favor of a good back country vehicle.
I would like to personally congratulate every single new Colorado and Canyon owner for buying the best truck in this segment, for having taste in appreciating the styling of these trucks, and for knowing that being USA patriotic means something to those of us that work hard and have pride in the land we live in. Thank you for buying a Colorado or a Canyon!!!
+Goliath X Here’s the rundown on Chevy’s new 2016 Colorado. Its new Duramax turbo-diesel engine is made in Thailand, the transmission is assembled in Mexico, there’s plenty of Brazil in the basic design, Chevrolet is a French name. So, please tell me again how American and USA Patriotic it is.
The clown is in your mirror. Where's the diesel torque for your beloved Toilet-a? Where's the fully boxed frame? Where's the modern technology four wheel disc brakes? Where's the steel bed? Where's the refinement? Where's the fuel mileage? Where's all the oil disappearing to in the Taco? Why do Mexicans, Asians, lesbians and homosexuals prefer Tacomas and Tundras? Where's the off road prowess you fan fucks so heartily orate, when in fact, wet grass is an obstacle? Tacomas and Tundras are joke trucks, and trolls like you should go get a hobby, instead of comparing against GM, Ford and Ram for your obvious and blatant shortcomings. US 20080284193 A1 is a patent for a damapened tailgate. Guess which country it was invented in? BIG CLUE: Look at the first two letters of the patent. Fucking idiot.
Chevrolet Colorado diesel all international automobile market : the medium traction 0.85g, risk tail flick, risk slide with top speed 175 km/hour in 2.5l duramax FGT, 184 km/hour in 2.5 duramax VGT Z71 AWD part-time, 187 km/hour in Z71 2.8l diesel AWD part-time. From Chevrolet Colorado diesel databases End report.
I have a Rally Yellow 2015 Z71 Trail Boss. I love it. I was going to wait for the diesel but I am genuinely concerned about the transmission. It's the exact same one as in the V6, and that engine exceeds the maximum torque ratings of that transmission by nearly 100 ft/lbs. Add to that them killing Rally Yellow for 2016, and that I have a short 4 mile commute, and things just kept adding up against the "D" I applaud GM for offering it, but pray that someone didn't do GM's infamous It'll do and shove it out routine on that transmission. Oh, and once I get the chance to see that roll bar in person, I may just have one bolted on to mine.
Looks better then our Aussie Holden Colorado we've had for a few years now. I still don't know why these types of vehicles aren't sold in the US, in Australia we get the Colorado, Amarok, Triton, Navara, Hilux, Ranger, D-Max and a couple other Chinese heaps of rubbish.
It's basically for someone who wants a smaller footprint vehicle while being able to say "my truck has a "Duramax." Considering you could buy a full-size diesel truck for not much more than the price of this, I don't think this will be a huge success for GM. Ford's EcoBoost with the tow package still beats it for torque, horsepower, and towing capacity, and comes in within the same price range, for a full-size truck that is a twin turbo and has decent fuel economy. Granted, there's something to be said for the low "giddy up" torque of a diesel, however, the spec to price ratio is not adequate for this truck.
I'd like to see more small diesel engines being offered as optional engines for small and mid-sized pickup trucks. While larger (6.6 litre) diesel engines may be popular, not everyone needs that much vehicle, or that much engine. Sometimes a smaller (2.8-4.0 litre) diesel engine would be all the engine one needs for the job. :)
For all those commenting on the "6000 pound" weight, this truck does not weigh 6000lbs. 6000lbs is the gross vehicle weight rating for this truck, meaning the weight of the truck *plus* the maximum payload capacity. The empty weight of this truck will be more like 4500-4700lbs. Anyone who knows vehicles would know this thing doesn't weigh 6000lbs (that's more than the weight of every half-ton full size). But as usual, these guys don't really know vehicles. They're just good at poorly skimming the press kit.
Did we ever get a towing capacity? How does the exhaust brake work? Is the exhaust brake adjustable? As we know exhaust brakes are potentially dangerous in certain situations, did the engineers work this into the traction control?
Isuzu engine, look up Isuzu D-Max in Europe - they're sister trucks sharing the same drive train, just rebadged. That should give an indication for the pretty poor MPG's (for a Diesel); UK miles per gallon are about 20.
I was interested in the Colorado diesel until I realized it had a timing belt. Nissan is supposed to come with a Cummins engine. I guess I will wait and find out.
You should do a live video where people can ask questions. For example I need help on recommending a truck. I'm coming from a Mazda 3. I don't haul anything but a kayak. And I go fishing a lot. What used truck would you recommend or where can I go for this type of advice ? Thanks
Roman -- you're right about the fact that if the fuel economy gets good numbers, expect more than 10% sales of the Chevy Colorado and cousin GMC Terrain. Just ask Ram on how that 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. Ram dealers can't keep the EcoDiesel off the lots.
Been waiting for this video for more than a year! Thanks TFLT for this first look. Can't wait to see more!
A Mid-size with a diesel engine! Roman......you made my day! Love it!
This engine has been around for a long time in asia.... finally we get it here
Should be a solid engine. Don't know about everything else. They've been using that 2.8 in Isuzu pickups and suvs for a while.
My friends in Thailand love the Isuzu diesel pickups.
I'm already driving a Duramax Diesel 2.8 Colorado (the asian/global version), and I gotta say, it's a great truck; fuel saving, very torquey, but very quiet and comfortable, I just wish we have gotten the same fascia.

Yeah, for us, it's 500Nm for the torque, 193hp, and I'm using up round 10.2litre for each 100km highway driving. I guess you would have to convert the numbers to your metric systems.
You can go on the Malaysian website to get more accurate numbers, this is the download link for their brochure.

im extremely happy that they made this truck. Can't wait to see what other manufacturers will respond with.

I honestly am thinking if trading in my 2010 silverado for one of these
Did you end up doing it?
you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother these days :)
@Fletcher Kashton yup, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
I was thinking the same thing
I don't know how good the rest of this truck is, but the shut lines and paint work are excellent.
Trail? Uh...
Holy fuck, I came when I saw the title
The Z71 and Trailboss packages make this a good looking truck...definitely growing on me. Can't wait for yall to do a proper towing test with the Duramax.
very well done GM:)
I absolutely love mine, bought it off the lot with 310 Miles I have over 18k now and it’s a shy over a year old (2017 Duramax LT crewcab) can’t wait to delete it after I pay it off! I beat friends all the time in there titans and even Tacoma’s on some trails! Cheers 🍻
I hope they'll revive the Avalanche with this Duramax diesel engine.
+Kit Anilapde I agree! I love my Avalanche Z71. It's one of the best truck investments I've ever made - Stalwart, comfortable and dependable.
+Kit Anilapde I love my Avalanche. I too hope they'll bring it back.
+Kit Anilapde
Unlikely, the Avalanche wasn't selling very well at the end.
Not everyone needs an actual pickup truck
avalanche with a duramax would be badass !!! love avalanche's!!!
+dcl97 For MPG.
it makes sense because its not a Ford. it will actually last lol
+dcl97 Ford have always had better 'bang for your buck' on paper. It's their thing - but some people are brand loyal, and just don't like fords for whatever reason.
+Jesse Hernandez So you bought a Cummin Diesel Ram?
Important Number:
HOW MUCH WILL IT TOW?
I think 7,700 lbs
+mcinkyt Chevy rates it at towing a max of 7,700 lbs in 2WD models and 7,600 lbs in 4WD models.
It's about time the duramax diesels are available in the Colorado and Canyons.!!!
ok seriously what is the computer showing on the fuel economy display as u drive this pickup
26 MPG
+The Fast Lane Truck thanks , i wonder how it will compete with the ram 1500 eco diesel
A very nice truck. Looking forward to a full review.
I was waiting on the review of this. I think I'm going to stick with a Tacoma.
+Trigger Happy Guns Thatll be a good choice 200k in
***** even you said older chevys. Says something right there
+rocker85675 real comedian. The real joke is the resale of your junk in 3 years.
*****
Some of us trade frequently due to work. Dependability trumps everything and Toyota has never let me down so it's a very valid argument.
+Ben Daulton yep and I'm not going into why and what I do for a living on the Internet. So take it for what it is and don't worry about it.
you guys always have the latest truck news and i thank you for that
Roman, you would love a diesel Hilux
+Greg O'Brien Tell that to toyota :).
hilux exist In USA?
+carmelo jose No
+tom jones noo, the Tacomas the closest truck but , its not really that close with it being a petrol and diffrent chassis
Very cool, I've been patiently waiting for a drive or review of this version. Looking forward to a real review with Ike gauntlet and normal fuel mileage. Thanks.
What was the computer mileage?
+Dalton Hill Roman is reporting 26 MPG on the computer during the first drive, but this is NOT a controlled MPG test.
Thanks for sharing :)
Still, 26 mpg isn't bad. Way better than 18 mpgs expected from a gasoline V6 engine.
I had 2003 s10 w/ 4.3 that was a beast of a truck 4 a small truck, I can only imagine a small truck w/ a diesel would be amazing
a midsize truck?
I'd rather have a half ton.
The Colorado is so big it looks like a half ton.
really, a 3 minute commercial before I can watch the video, last TFLT video I watch.
Did I here the hp number right, only 181 hp? I guess it makes up for it with the torque.
+Teddy Monroe You got it right.
The Fast Lane Truck is the GMC getting the 4 cyl Duramax too?
+The Fast Lane Truck what are the towing numbers?
+Arvis Livingston We have a Colorado diesel towing video coming very soon.
Pretty much this size truck is available exclusively as a diesel.
for 40k i rather have a full size duramax
good luck
+Olivia Bateman thanks i got it already
+Migalouch Garcia Let me guess a Silverado?
+I'm Zoid yupp
+Migalouch Garcia Should've got a ford lol jk.
I bet it be a beast tuned . I tuned an deleted my 15 2500 an get a best of 26 mpg on cruise at 65 mph and have abt 620 rwhp from corry
I'm not a fan of the f150 crossed with a tacoma look.
I think buying a ram eco diesel or f150 2.7 liter would make more sense than buying this.
+SurelyYewJest Bububut, you get a full size pickup. Bigger payload bigger bed bigger cab. Not a single decision in life is without a trade off.
Other then hp and torque numbers, the rest if mostly verbal diarrhea (
+Tully3674 Your comment is well taken. Stay tuned, we have more videos coming.
+John A Wow, that works out to be 28 MPG in the U.S. That isn't bad for any size pickup truck.
+Charles Burdick (WxWookie)
Yeah, I can see 30mpg on the highway not being hard number to get.
I was gonna insult your toyota. but nah, too easy
+Bailey O. oh jeez, we'll it's only vehicle I've ever had where nothing has broken or gone wrong. Great truck for me. I love Chevy, Ford too but the Yota is doing great
yah
Before watching this video, I would've always stuck with toyota tacomas as the best midsize truck, but after seeing this, chevy's built a damn good truck. If i was of age and had enough money, i'd definitely give it a go. And, Duramax. So much yes.
+ohmanyourecool1 except it's not heavy. it's about 4500llbs. the 6000llbs number he threw out there was a general statement (like the ram 1500 and others which do weight that much). or he simply stated the gvwr of the truck,id you even know what that means
it still is the best midsize, have you seen how good it is off road and the figures on the new v6 ?
The Men that buy this truck will have to repeatedly explain why they spent 45 grand or more on a truck that doesn't even look kool and is semi capable. I see these in person and even the 4x4's look jacked up in the rear, they are tall and narrow, just looks awkward to me.
+youngblood23rb It is less than 3 inches narrower then a k series Silverado and less than 4 inches for a 2003 and over 6 inches wider than an S-10. Might want to take another look sometime
if you spend $45k or more on any truck you are are a flat out idiot. no one (should) ever pays sticker price
+Quadrunner I see them daily and I'm just not a fan of the look or the stance of these trucks
+Jesse Hernandez I Agree
+youngblood23rb Not everybody wants a huge truck, I had to drive a 2012 Cummins with a 6" lift a couple weeks ago, not for me, too big, bulky and awkward. This thing is perfect for those who want torque and good gas mileage without having to own a 30 foot giant. I do agree with you about the price, that's a little steep, this thing should be around $35k at the most.
I want one with turbo diesel engine, good roof racks, and big fuel tank so its ready for a long expedition.
Nice truck! Super reliable
yes! great to see this been waiting for a while
S10 in Brazil has this same engine but with 200 hp... It is also the number 1 on sales by a lot
My next truck for sure.
gm is really smart. there are so many people that do not take care mechanically wise of their vehicle. so when you put people in a position to do scheduled maintenance like fuel filters almost as often as oil changes. also the get in and put it to the floor and go drivers just to name a couple . just means gm will be repairing a lot of these vehicles. why because it's a diesel. good luck.
Those blacked-out badges would have looked pretty sweet on my white 2015 Colorado. Still love my truck though.
Of course, Chevy provides a Good Console Shifter - instead of the RAM's Silly Twisty-Puck Dash Shifter.
i love tfl its just the best channel
Its cab and chassi were designed in Australia originally for the Holden Colorado the only difference's are the front end and rear taillights and engine
Well i'm not sure about everyone else but I think its about time and cool we finally got a mid size truck with a diesel engine in North America... But that price though...
That little 2.8 Duramax's torque specs are pretty impressive for an inline 4 banger....close to equal of the Chevy 5.3 EcoTec3 V8!
Look's pretty good other then that lip, pretty excited too see more diesels coming to North America.
Buy it!!!
The chevrolet S-10/Colorado 2.8 l made in brazil and thailand mpg in liters is about 9.5l/100km hwy and about 12.5 l/100km city. With the updatd engine makes 200hp
Will keep my '14 JGC diesel. Bigger engine and much more capable on and off-road.
please get some more reviews out soon about the colorado, I am considering to buy this truck.
+Bailey Degregorio lmao, so true
guy proulx
Resurrecting this? You need a hobby.
***** this is one of my my hobbies, it's my daily entertainment to argue with clowns like you lmao

Chevrolet Colorado diesel databases
End report.
In Afghanistan there all 4 door diesel ford rangers. Those things were beast. Going through a couple feet of water!
But I really like this truck!
AWESOME, finally a review on the diesel. I can't wait to see it on the Ike Gauntlet
Very nice ,a Diesel engine in a midsize truck.
smooth and powerful
if it gets close to 40 mpg im in
I like the engine note under acceleration.
Nice! This is practically my dream truck. Too bad I'll never buy anything other than an electric car in the future.
Nissan engineers converted a Nissan Leaf to a leaf Camino not long ago for running parts around and what not. It's pretty cool
The future is now. Please tell me you bought yourself a Tesla
@@bodak870 I did... In 2018. And now I have two! EV is the only way to go!
I bought one those diesel Colorado's and the motor blew up on me at 48000 miles. Luckily for me it was under warranty
Oil changes save motors.
I really hope that they make one that has an decent length bed rather than 4 doors.
Truck Trend got about 31.6 mpg in mix driving in the same 2WD truck
Is it four wheel drive? How much ground clearance? The plastic on it looks like it would get ripped off on anything but asphalt.
Did we ever get a towing capacity? How does the exhaust brake work? Is the exhaust brake adjustable? As we know exhaust brakes are potentially dangerous in certain situations, did the engineers work this into the traction control?
+Fred Peace II Just found the follow-up video, I'm eager to see them get the truck in Colorado.
I can hear that diesel power 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
looks like a mini avalanche but i love it!
Roman, you are wrong sir! Nissan Frontier will have the new turbocharged, 4 cylinder diesel in it for 2016.
I´m in Chile and almost all mid-size trucks are offered with a diesel option
Isuzu engine, look up Isuzu D-Max in Europe - they're sister trucks sharing the same drive train, just rebadged.
That should give an indication for the pretty poor MPG's (for a Diesel); UK miles per gallon are about 20.
that lip looks way to low to do any real off-road work, the grass at the end of the video look to touch it. i do love the almost angry look it has...
+morfeeis W The front lip is removable.
+jcangler88 What, by the first rock you come across ?
+MrKeyboardCommando lol that was legit a great response
but seriously, i think it's like two to four screw or something that hold it on.
jcangler88 that's a good thing, cause i can see it's scoop like design digging in and tearing off easily...
Jorgen Wu It's nice to hear from somebody who's got a sense of humour, and thanks for the information.
how tall are you? The truck looks small on the outside but you look about 6 feet and you seem comfy.
really liking this truck
I was interested in the Colorado diesel until I realized it had a timing belt. Nissan is supposed to come with a Cummins engine. I guess I will wait and find out.
There is no way that little truck weighs 6000 pounds. This was a very smart move for chev. That truck is going to sell very well.
You expect emissions to come out the tailpipe, no matter which engine you choose. That's what emissions is.
Google is listing the fuel mileage for the 2.8L Diesel engine as:
17 / City
24 / Highway
there's no way that's accurate
Google shows the v6 gas 4x4 mpg numbers when you search for the diesel MPGs. it is not accurate.
+Chris Arellano There IS a chance they mixed it up with the Titan's Diesel though.. if it did come out, as that seems reasonable.
