Hydrophone & Contact Microphone
Cjossul is a useful tool for field recording and sound design. Explore and record the vibrations coming from the liquid and solid world around you! It can act as an hydrophone or contact microphone. It uses hi quality components like Murata piezo disc, Sommer flexible shielded cable (3 m) and Amphenol nickel plated jack. You can also add a magnet!
Everything is shielded with copper and all the components are chosen to last and resist your most extreme field recordings!
To have a full frequency response you need to use it with an HI-Z input or even better with an impedance adapter (more bass) like the Hosa MIT-129.
I’ve been doing sound design for over 25 years; my sounds are featured on television and radio all over the world. On my UA-cam channel I share tips and tricks about anything I’ve learned over the years.
Be curious and explore the infinite world of sounds around you!

This is the REAL ASMR
This sounds amazing! I love that you can hear the ticking throughout also, just faint in the background
Thank You and in the same time i can hear heat turn on in my studio. When i film this was 15 degree outside.
I can’t get enough of these videos thank you so much for making everything for all of us I keep coming back isn’t that a great sign thank you Robert❤
Thank You so much, I’m glad you like😊
Sounds amazing, sad that the video is short)
Loving your camera set up man, the motion really keeps it engaging. Great video too! keep it up :)
Thank You Daniel. Hope to see you at the NAMM in June if happen.
Amazing sound!, this is the real deal when talking about recording for sound design. OMG!
Thank You
Thanks Robert. The glass of ice sounded really nice. Must get one soon. I see they're only 75 Euros, so they're cheap too.
Glad you like, the sound really cool and yes or the price you pay you getting really mic.
recently got into contact mics.. trying to explore this all. very cool.
Opening new sound possibilities !
Thank you
It would have been useful to hear the Cjossul on its own, without overhead microphones, to give buyers a better idea of its frequency range. It certainly adds to the recording, mixing in both but for the purpose of viewers could you do another example with the Cjossul on its own?
I’m not sale person and I don’t do review of any product’s I just show how and what I use, If you looking for product review you on the wrong page😊
Hi Robert, your video and sounds put an enormous smile on my face. Perhaps you should contact Tom Hanks, who has a wonderful fascination with typewriters and has written a book of short stories with these devices as a theme. I think though he would be displeased with your lack of winding-in double sheets of paper, in order to protect the rubber platen from damage.
Thank You. I love recording old mechanical sounds, the all have unique character.
brilliant product
sounds phenominal, ok, I need one of these, thank you!!!!
The are great😊
Robert, nice video! The only thing that's bad - it's too short. Want to see more of you doing sound stuff ^_^ Happy holidays!
Thank You. New video coming next week😊
"hay. It is what it is"
😊
Nice sounds !!! Like it
Thank You
Jak zawsze świetny materiał Robercie. Miłej zabawy, brzmi świetnie ten mikrofon!
Dziekuje😊
Holy crap that is awesome, about to pick one up myself lol.
Thank You😊
Thanks for sharing this information! Great tool at a reasonable price :)
Glad You like.
Now that sounds amazing!
Thank You, glad you like.
Does it sound stereo because you mixed in the 2 overhead mics or am I missing something?
Yes I always mixing over head mics with pick up, i like my sounds to have life feel.
@@RobertDudzic sounds great, thanks for sharing
Curious why this wasn’t stated in the notes or in the video, as this was my initial thought.
Unfortunately not an inaccurate representation of the contact mic / hydrophone’s performance and I’m wondering if anyone took delivery and was disappointed with the results.
It would have been nice to have seen a with and without the overheads comparison, but TY for making the video.
God bless you brother
Thank You so much😊🙏🏻
Put ASMR tag and you will get more views 😍
Thank You, will do😊
Amazing as always Robert!
I had to get one myself! I quite like the build but I'm finding it hard to get the same input gain as in your video.
I've tried using the recommended HOSA MIT-129 impedance adapter to connect to the Zoom F6's XLR input (without +48v phantom power) but still, I have to crank up the gain on the recorder and in post-production to get a good level for anything that's not a direct hit to the piezo.
Are you using an active D.I box and/or external preamp to connect to the X8? Any tips and insights from your experience would be much appreciated!
Thanks.
Im connecting all direct in to TASCAM Portacapture X8 no any adapters. Tascam sound warm and natural.
Hello Lorenzo, when used with the Hosa is normal to have less gain since it's a passive device. When used without it on an HI-Z or Mic input, the gain should be quite high.
Hi, I am following this. The Zoom F6 does not have a jack input, only XLR (too bad of course, even the H4n pro got mixed XLR/Jack inputs...)
So you are stuck with XLR inputs and a simple convertor jack/xlr will not change your problem. Maybe the Tascam has a line/instrument input instead of a mic input, and maybe this is what we hear. The low end from the typing machine is wonderful and it is hard to imagine that it comes from the contact mic (maybe Robert Dudzic mixed in a signal from th Géofon?). I am surprised that even with the Hosa you need to apply a lot of level. It is a passive adapter so it is logic, but using all gain from the recorder could bring in some noise. The preamps from the F6 are very good so you'll be okay. Otherwise you'll need to look for a phantom powered preamp that has a built-in impedance corrector.
Hi, thanks for sharing! It sounds great. Does it record ultrasonic above 20K?

Great video! Thank you very much, just ordered one. Did you use it with connector Hosa MIT-129 1/4" TS to XLR3M or dirrectly with audiocard?
I plug directly in to recorder.
This is awesome, and love your channel. Would this connect to a Tascam DR-05X? I might get one if so.
I never tried.
@@RobertDudzic Which Tascam were you using?
Hi Robert thanks for sharing. Looks and sounds exciting. The sound you hear is only from the Contact microphone or also from the two microphones above?
(typewriter and ice cubes)
From contact mic and two mics above.
@@RobertDudzic thank you 👍 makes good sense
I always mix contact with other mics.
Are we hearing a mix of the contact mic and the stereo mics? or is it just the Cjossul alone
Both, that’s the way i mix
How does this compare to the Lom Geofon? I noticed you using the LOM on your IG as well
The are two different think, I use Geofon for recording low frequencies, the other pickups picking all mid and high frequencies. Two of them together works perfect.
Thanks so much for offering your expertise and opinion Robert!
You have inspired me to dive deep into recording
Would you say this is a world class contact mic and hydrophone? Or do you recommend something else?
This is not a competition what is best, for me is important if i like the sound i will use. My only advise will be, you heave to learn the mic and and decide if this is the sound what you like.
@@RobertDudzic I didn't ask if it's the best, I asked if it's world class. I have 12 years of experience using microphones, but I haven't used contact microphones yet, and I don't want to spend money on something that isn't world class quality.
Which shotguns are you using?
