In my Porsche - Pink Floyd, Springsteen, Camel, Oasis, Queen, Tom Petty
Finally getting to hear Camel, as I was hipped to it from a music friend with killer taste, he's into everything, like me! Nice variety there, and while Oasis seems to have a lot of haters, I loved em' from the jump, strong melody, memorable hooks with simple chord changes and that voice! Liam has the vocal tone and swag, perfect voice for rock and roll. They aren't highly original, their music isn't real dynamic (folks main complaints) but well structured songs with big guitars will always reel me in! Early Queen blew our minds - and still does!
Oh, and Tom and Bruce are two of my music heros, as much for who they are (RIP Tom Petty) off stage as well as on.
Hackneyed lyrics, I was just listening to a couple of tracks from Yes's 2023 album Mirror To The Sky... some really good tracks, but yeah, the lyrics are so on-the-nose, talking about astronomy or something, "Man isn't the night sky cool, astrophysics is cool!" Man, write about something crazy. Young people have the innocence and bravado to write these insane lyrics that don't really mean much but people can read things into it... once they get old the lyrics get weird and... yes, "hackneyed."
The album is very good. Went to see them at Kentish Town Forum and they were brilliant. Cherone can still sing. Other Side of the Rainbow should be an absolutely massive hit.
I have the greatest hits of the Sweet in my car. Don't mind so much driving anywhere dull and boring
so much now lol. GOAT imho. Love to hear you discuss them sometime
EWF Gratitude, looking forward to that one! 🌞
Ahhh Rad!! You included my Foo Fighters comment 😂😂
It took me years before Astral Weeks appealed, that and a remaster. And always been of the opinion that nobody sings Dylan as well as Dylan, especially in the 60s and 70s.
Wrappers, bottles, umbrellas, and so much more - I seem to live in my car. It's my best listening experience since getting married and having kids, me being the only family driver. Right now I'm listening to Supertramp - last week was 80s King Crimson, in preparation for the coming concerts.
"Steely Dan vs. The Meters". I dare 'ya.
[edit] PS I love you.
love the new series Andy!! Great idea and entertaining as hell, as always 😂
Hopefully it will give a random snap shot as to what I'm listening too, and how actually awful my taste in music is!
@@AndyEdwardsDrummer or you could say "extreme-ly" awful 😆 (j/k!!)
Love it, Andy! Always love to hear what musicians are listening to! Great first pick!
Love it!! Keep them coming 😊😊😁😁👍👍
Enjoyed, Andy. Keep it up!
In my VW Golf: Rain's Radio Silence! I love the whole album but the song Something New especially has great hooks and vocals, and the drummer occasionally maintains the beat.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Andy ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Perfect timing for this. It was just announced this morning that they are coming to our Casino in little ole Regina, Canada, with Living Colour opening. What a lineup, and in a very intimate venue! I'll definitely be going to this one.
Oh, and in my car at the moment is Planet X - Anthology (a complete set of their 3 studio and 1 live albums).
Was going to say …. bang these out as regular as possible. Totally get the format.
Extreme … despite me not coming from your full on ‘rocker’ background,( you were young bless ya), I totally related to everything you said. The only track I responded to on the Extreme album,( I have seen them twice in their early days), was ‘Rise’ and wasn’t too engaged by the other songs I heard, but will dip in now to check.
However …. Gratitude takes me back to being 12/13years old in 79 when I bought it. I know every note on that album and it still features heavily on my playlist. Really looking forward to it. ‘Africano/Power Medley’, ‘Sun Goddess’, ‘New World Symphony’, ‘Can’t Hide Love’,( from the studio side)…… immense.
Can’t wait
I like this, pretty cool idea for a new series. And I like your idea of short and sweet. Yeah, do this again next week, and the week after, and "Melodies that go on, go on, go on, go on go off, go off go off, go off, go off, go off."
I will bet my truck is way messier than Andys. I have an 8oo watt amp, 12 in sub and i sometimes listen to andys vids
Queen
Nice work, Capt. Andy, as usual! Apropos of nothing, I was listening to Brian Jackson's Gotta Play and thought of you - fusion in the best sense (IMHO). A little funky, great playing - definitely a '70's vibe - good stuff! As to Extreme, as a Boston-adjacent person, I have to give them props, but they're still bringing it. I've always liked the Foos - I'm a sucker for power-pop and the Foos definitely fit the bill (as do Green Day). There's nothing particularly punk about either of them - I don't expect "art", so I guess i can never be disappointed.
Like the format Andy, listened to a band i have not played before, not for my car
but it is all about perceptions.
my car has the 2022 album Pawns and Kings by Alter Bridge, great riffs and lyrics.
Dont mind the Foo Fighters but i am an old grandad grizzly,
The new Nightwish album soon so i be happy with the other fans working out the lyrics meaning,
all the best
Prince please first 6 albums please never heard such a gradual rise to brilliance
dirty mind will always be the best one for me
@@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLL yessss!!!! you said it bud!!
Nuno B. IS the greatest guitarist on the planet as you said Andy 👍
If you haven´t already Andy check out Everything Under the Sun from III Sides to Every Story. A truly epic 22 minute prog masterpiece.
I like Dave but I've only got the first two FF albums; that's all I felt I really needed.
There's nothing extreme about Extreme, is there? Dad rock is what it is.
Pink Floyd?
😂
Is that the band of More Than Words? '😮 Wot Gorilla?
calling a guy a silver fox sounds so dirty...had to take shower after that comment 😁😎
Checked this record out. It started off good but devolved into Bon Jovi.
Loved the album when it came out year.
And I freakin love Beautiful Girls and I don't care what anyone says. Such a fun song.
White Lion is part of that era and is often left out.
In my car: Audience "House On the Hill"
A compilation 4CD set by Curve, "Unreadable Communication". They are an alternative/electronic act from the 90's and these are their releases from the Anxious label. I'm going to have to give up on buying physical copies. They are getting too expensive and I recently moved house and my music collection takes up more space than anything else I own.
I forgot about Curve . “Coast Is Clear” “Fait Accompli” They had a great sound.. Gotta go back and give ‘em a listen..…Nice one,
Doppelganger... killer cut after killer cut.
Cheronne was in Van Halen
This is might be big Fun, I do not have a Drivers Licence (No Green Reasons) so I will throw in my Backseat Be(s)tties.
Reggae is always great on the Sidewing Seat. If the Driva needs a bit of a Push I give him Betty Mabry.
Emmylou Harris is always great, Tanya Tucker is a total must. The Red and the Blue Double Album from the Beatles is always good, Motorvatin by Chuck Berry is the perfect Hot Roder. The Live Record of the Kinks from 1979, when they were to Punk what Neil Young became for Grunge and Just one Night by Eric Clapton with Albert Lee always worked Wonderful Tonight back then.
Joe Rodriguez and the Glaser Brothers have that Longing in their Voices that suit every long Journey.
Another great video - keep it up!
Excellent CD Andy! Thicker than Blood one of my favorite songs on the album. Thanks for highlighting the guys from Massachusetts! Nuno is just magical!
This was a good listen. Looking forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it
'dance the night away' is my favorite VH track. such a great song! ~ 🎸
Oh no
Adny, you are one of the very best! I can tell you that you need one of Stanley Clarke's albums in you car...'School Days' and/or 'Stanley Clarke' (the one w/ Lopsy Lu)!! Thanks for all that you do!
In my car at the moment:
Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
Soundgarden - Live At The Wiltern
Chicago - Hot Streets
Black Crowes - Warpaint
Jo Jo Gunne - same
Easy Money from An Innocent Man totally slaps!
Woh! Just listened to the Innocent Man CD while driving around today (drove far out of my way so I could hear the entire album a couple times) and while we all know the big hits from the album, I had never heard Easy Money before and instantly dug it! Billy nailed it on that one - awesome energy and like his vocal on it. It could also have been a hit! It does indeed SLAP! 0:05 @@kfitz2711
Grateful Dead ?
No. 😮😂
UA-cam watchers: What's in your car Andy?
Andy: What's in my car? WHAT'S IN MY CAR!? Well let me tell you ...
Andy sounds a lot like the hilarious comedian Stewart Lee, are they from similar cities?
Well, assuming that Andy Edwards was raised in Kidderminster, which I don't know for sure, but he seems to have been there for a long time, then the answer is pretty much "yes," as Wikipedia says that Stewart Lee was raised in Solihul, in the West Midlands, and that's only about 32 km (20 miles) from Kidderminster. Midlands fellows for sure.
Stewart Lee is as funny as a warping coffin.
Yes I’ve noticed that as well.
@@shirleymental4189😂
Put out more videos out!!!!!
Thanks for turning me on to Arc of the Testimony, by Tony Williams and Bill Laswell. Totally a revolution, and I’ve been listening to that for a while. I can’t believe I had never heard of it until last year. Thanks again
I can't believe you're not listening to Pink Floyd in your car, Andy. That's so disrespectful of the most important band in the Universe.
Extreme??? I cant believe I looked up to you, thought you were cool even. I dont believe in anything anymore!
I just love Nuno...he can do wrong in my book...
Andy, you're hysterical.
Never did like Extreme (or the Foo Fighters,) but I concede that Nuno is a beast. Extreme lyrics were hackneyed from the start.
Gratitude?! We are not worthy...
For those bought up in the 70s..Rick Beato is like the established Blue Peter.Andy is Magpie bit more edgy and run on budget..Ha..
All my comments on this channel get deleted / go missing . Not nice..Lol
Couple of things on Extreme:
- The songs on the new release are solid but come in a Digipak, IMO, a packaging monstrosity, so won't be getting it unless a second printing is released in a jewel case.
- III Sides to Every Story: great from start to finish; a masterpiece for me
- Waiting For the Punchline: not highly rated but a solid record IMO
It should be Karma and Kerosene. It's not prog though.
Sad to say, but only occasionally do I sit down and listen to music on good speakers or headphones now days (age 65). Eighty-five percent of the time I spend listening to music is either in the “car” (pickup truck) or on UA-cam. About 50% of what I listen to is classical music.
I think Extreme's biggest impact on the world was calling their first album Pornograffiti. The whole making one word out of two other words has become annoyingly popular, but I don't recall anyone else doing it back then. So I've listened to Rise a few times, due to Rick's video and whilst the second half of the solo is epic, the chorus is really annoying and the rest of the song is meh, not enough to make me want to listen to the rest of the album. To be honest, I only knew two Extreme songs prior to Rise, Get The Funk Out, which I don't like and More Than Words, which is a good song that I also don't like. Hair metal never really did it for me, because I was listening to stuff like Slayer and Sepultura at the time and hair metal was like the antethesis of what I liked about metal.
Yes-Drama
Gary Numan? 😊 New Subscriber from the US 🇺🇸 Love your sense of humor! ❤
It's not really in your car, though. It's there in your hand. Maybe call it "What Was In My Car" ;)
The CD is still in the car....that is an empty case
@@AndyEdwardsDrummer Ah, but can you prove it? I bet you weren't expecting this conversation, right?
No...but it is true
"Is there gas in the car?"
"Yes there's gas in the c a - a a r ! "
What’s he got in his car eh precious?
Six by Mansun is better!
Amazing album! Turned a ton of folks onto this Mansun masterwork, people hearing it are never less than blown away!
Extreme? Sorry, I'd rather listen to Americana...
PS - in my car, the new Steven Wilson remix of The Missing Piece. Memories of Old Days worth the price alone.
What do you mean by Americana?
Andy went on a rant the other day how he detests Americana. Well Extreme is Hair Metal to me. I've always detested Hair Metal. I don't care about Extreme's nuances, they are bloated hair metal doofus' to me. Rock on Wilco!
Exactly. I can’t go the distance or anywhere with Extreme. I have never liked their music. It sounds generic and contrived.
Nuno can play guitar. Wow great! Next please.
And Gary Cherone is just silly as a front man. How can you take him serious or even equate him to a genuine rocker?!? Just watch their videos. Cringy.
But they did write More Than Words I guess…
And Pink Floyd?
So your angle is to be the crystal meth Rick Beato?
You’re still wrong about Queen and P Floyd…. Not overated
An album I urge you all to listen to on CD is Travelogue by Joni Mitchell. All her popular and greatest work but rearranged completely with a top notch orchestra. It’s fair to mention the quality of the recording too. It’s among the best recordings I’ve ever heard.
Gonna look into that album, Joni makes music - I buy it! I think she's the greatest female musician and one of the most important and talented musicians EVER! Was absorbing her Hissing On Sumner Lawns CD last week and as usual with Joni's artistry, it went right to my soul!
@@treff9226 You won’t regret it. 👍
Beato's the best. Probably is - and you're great too. So what do you make of the likes of RoomieOfficial? While you can wind people up you have reason, this roomie guy, well.
I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud at anything on UA-cam.
Pat Badger is a rock name. How's about a show talking about the best rock names?
My nomination is, Richie Blackmore.
I don’t want to see in Andy’s car…sounds like a mess!!!
There are times when I think Andy can read my thoughts. I've been screaming to myself about Dave Grohl's excessively unnecessary f-bombs for years and I thought nobody was listening. Thank you Andy for being my voice.
You’re not alone. It annoys me to no end Dave grohl’s constant f-bombing. I guess he thinks it makes him more “authentic.”
I agree. Makes him appear to be uneducated
Yeah he's like a teenager that still thinks saying swear words all the time is edgy.
I do like the concept of this new series. Maybe to make it interactive, sort of, we can all list what we have in our cars. And, I'll start:
- XTC - Skylarking
- Jamiroquai compilation
- Pagan's Mind - Heavenly Ecstasy
- Malpractice - Of Shape and Balance
Jamiroquai...guilty pleasure!
@@AndyEdwardsDrummer I know buying artist compilations is a bit of a no-no but unfortunately, collecting whole discographies is a bit difficult for me. For one, I don't have the physical space to do so, and I also rescue stray animals so most of the funds go to that end. So, collecting compilations/best ofs/anthologies gives me an opportunity to have an artist's music in the collection.
Having said that, any recommendations on which Jamiroquai CDs to buy, or start with?
Great channel and love the humor you inject in all the vids.
In my car, Alice in Chains, Pet Shop Boys, 90's Club Music, Radiohead (The Bends), Sublime, and Miles Davis' Milestones.......
That's a horrible CD ..just right to create road rage ...lol
you have a car Andy ??? what kind of prog and earth conscious human artist struggling for the meaning of life are you ?? lololol ..
Too many ads. You may lose viewers.
Other side of the rainbow is awful on every level.
Small town beautiful is also rather boring. Might have been mildly popular in the pop charts of the 80's.
Thicker than blood is initially disjointed that then moves to distinct mediocrity.
Hurricane should be renamed mild breeze.
X Out had me thinking of Dragons Den. I'm out.
Beautiful Girls is just plain embarrassing cringe.
Here's to the losers is on a fast losing streak.
They seemed to be trying too hard to create another More Than Words and never came close.
This leaves the remaining tracks as growers, with none standing out as an instant classic hit but after a few plays will likely stick in the mind.
Ultimately though, just not enough, despite the obvious creative talent that still remains.
Pink Floyd ??
What's in yaw caaa Andy?? What's in yaw caaa?? What IS your car Andy ?
Pink Floyd?
