The moment you love a song so much, you start listening to it so much, that you get bored of it, so you come listen to the demo so you feel like you're watching it all over again.
Fucking beautiful. I remember listening to this in high school in my car on a rainy day. Drove home only listening to it. Then the whole night. Love OASIS
Probably my favourite song from Standing on the shoulders of giants. Something very sad, but somehow deeply moving about this one. It's definitely my favourite Oasis album. I like the psychedelic vibe about it, particularly this song.
Doesn't get half the credit it deserves, I love it. It's honestly one of the best sounding records on vinyl you'll ever hear, it's mixed outrageously good.
It is the closest they came to the Fabs and that wasn't an accident, Noel was deep into the bootlegs and Beatles oddities at the time, nothing wrong with that. Weller must have been spitting feathers as he never came this close to extending the Beatles, despite ripping Taxman and Dear Prudence.
@@FrostBitey10 No it’s worse than champagne supernova in every way tbh, everything from the lead guitar to the solo to the vocals to the chorus. Champagne supernova has a lot more meaning to people than Roll It Over believe you me. The line ‘How many special people change’ is more profound than anything in this song. Tbh, I think this this song is decent but the only thing that sells it is liam’s vocal
Absolutely Magical tune!! I get the strangest feeling when I hear this song. It's melancholy, bittersweet and cosmic catharsis all in one (if you'll pardon the pretentious choice of words). Fuckin' masterpiece this. Thank you, Noel. You make all our lives so much better with your beautiful music. :)
@@KyTaundry and it captures the epic feel of the Dar Side of the Moon album. I dont know why he and this song dont get more credit for it. Its a great song and performance. Liam nails it though, still: ua-cam.com/video/sheCuKXPsnQ/v-deo.html
I’m glad you enjoyed that feeling. I did too, at 100mph on a bike powerful motorbike. Nothing like that exists for me. But, here in 2022, that’s been extinguished by the evil globalists.
Man, imagine having two prime vocalists during that time? Each is so unique. Like two different songs. The Liam shot gives me a dose of energy. The Noel take gives me a shot of emotion.
I can give a hundred million reasons To build a barricade I blame it on the changing of the seasons The thoughts that I've conveyed Does it make it all right? It doesn't make it all right To roll it over my soul and leave me here Roll it over my soul and leave me here Look around at all the plastic people Who live without a care Try to sit with me around my table But never bring a chair
What's so amazing is this is just a demo (although it pretty much is the same as the finished track that just has Liam singing it and the guitars tidied up a tad) imagine churning these demos out as prolifically as Noel has
Love this, love Noel (I mean, he can sing it with more emotion because he is the one who wrote it and knows what it's about) but honestly I think Liam's voice works way better for this.
This song, for me, is an absolute “hook monster”. So much of it sticks in my mind & heart for days after listening to this fairly bare version. One of the very many simple-sounding songs Noel’s penned, that are definitely not simple. There are many unexpected chord changes, unusual sounds compared with much of his canon of music, and it’s really heartfelt. Not very rock & roll, more like heartbreak. It’s also got a persistent ethereal, somewhat psychedelic vibe about it.
On the Album version as the chorus kick in, "Roll It over"... could Of sworn that was Noel's voice! But for a few seconds into the chorus, you can hear Its Liam, However I wonder if they Are both singing the chorus together and Noel's Voice just cut though THE MIX a bit louder ? Liams just Has that Type of Tone that can just turn an average song into A Really Great Song. Noel really pulls off this song and Yes I know he wrote it.
I sort of wish Noel had originally sung this one ,, then I heard Liam doing a version of it and that would of absolutely blew me away. Hope this make sense to anyone
This song. Makes me feel good. I like noel Gallagher version. Slightly more than Liam it reminds me playing in the big gardens in the 70s.with my brother and mum. Near the swings outside. Great tune. Forever

How have I only heard this demo in 2022?! Jesus wept! I absolutely adore Roll it Over but I absolutely love this version. It just feels more rock n roll when it's stripped back like this. Although I do prefer Liam's main vocal.
Más que excelente interpretación, he escuchado las canciones que noel ha sacado ya sin liam y de pronto me pongo ha imaginarlas en voz de liam, se escuchan bastante genial. Que triste, ¡ya son más de 10 años!
@vinchenzo19 Mustard?! hahahaha Is that a good thing? I love language and that one caught my eye. Never heard the word used in that context before. I'm pretty sure I love it, though. =P And I totally agree that Noel's solo work is going to be tops. Can't fookin wait!
This so such a Liam song. Some songs are best with Noel but this is one of those songs that proofs that Oasis wouldn't not have been anything without Liam.
Liam added a sense of anger to this song with his voice. Noel brings out the weary melancholy in it. Both are great versions.
Mate, fair comment. Both are on different planes.
👏👏👏👏👌👌
Liam turned it into the anthem-like song that it deserves to be.
Defo think it suits Noel’s voice better
@@xyzxyz997 I don't think so. The chorus sounds very flat when noel sings it.
The moment you love a song so much, you start listening to it so much, that you get bored of it, so you come listen to the demo so you feel like you're watching it all over again.
I do that the opposite way I listen to Noel's version first except I never get bored of it
Amen brother
Since I love this Song so much, I'm careful not to overplay it so it remains fresh to me
No demo version for me. Liam gives this song more feeling than noel
And then you overplay the demo version and go back to the studio version and it sounds fresh and new again
Not only is Oasis the best band of their generation, but also the best ever B-sides band and the best ever demos band.
Definately

It’s 2/3 there but needs a better chorus.
@@EOTA564 Ha, erm no. The chorus is excellent
Same, almost enough to redeem the whole album

Rolon, amo esa canción, gas panic también
When Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants came out, one reviewer called this song a poor man's Champagne Supernova, which I think is very unfair.
It's fucking amazing actually like whole album
Said by someone who's never written one song close to this....who cares of the fckn journalists...
You can't have read my comment properly.
It's actually a more sophisticated man's Champagne Supernova as the lyrics actually have some meaning.

So underrated
One of the most beautiful songs.
This sounds so Year 2000, and I think that's a good thing. 👽
Good because it was in fact the year 2000

Knebworth 2022 👀
Was special
this freakin open string sound during the chorus kills me the coolest possible way
Similar chord to Led Zeppelin “no quarter” opening riff
The entire atmosphere is unbelievable. Noel Gallagher is a genius, feeling like a mix of Velvet Underground and Pink Floyd.
Like your analogy…
Totally get the Pink Floyd vibe from this, even more so with the solo that's played on the studio version, the reverby, washy drums etc.

I can promise you Noel didn't have much to do with that aside from telling his techs "make it sound like Pink Floyd". he's quoted as saying as much
speeding down the motorway at 90+ mph on a sunny day singing the "roll it over my soul" bit....immense!

Noel is definetly the best songwriter ever ... at least from the last hundred years
Not just he wrote extremely high quality songs, their sheer number is stunning, the songs not ending!

Noel can hold those notes! Like Noel said, He's the better singer but Liam's got the better voice
I mean Liam held the notes in this song just as well
Liam was actually bang on the money vocally for the first few years.. it’s just tragic that no one saw or cared he was struggling vocally.
@@lebigfin5251 Not at all. Noel sustained the notes wayyyy longer, Liam ran out of breath relatively quickly with the long notes during the chorus.

I always think that Noel is better in the delivery. Of course Liam has great voice, but the delivery? Absolutely Noel.....
Peter Jones Liam is a much better singer I think anyone that knows anything about music realises that
Peter Jones
Depends what song is sung - but 99% of the time Liam delivers with far more presence.
T P lol
S Todd depends what "Presence" you are talking about, Liam can't make people cry like Noel, Noel can't make people jump up an down like Liam
It's like Noel is one hell of a good musician but in singing, Liam is just one of the millions.
