Maasai, Kenya: Enkukuri (Calabash)

The Enkukuri, or the calabash, is a fruit that plays a central role in Maasai culture. From the many different practical uses of the calabash and the fact that it is a material that is taken from and eventually given back to the land, to the plethora of ways in which it holds traditional and spiritual significance for important ceremonies.
