@@DylanODonnell Damn ! LOL ! so funny. thank you for this video. i have been lmao and interrupting coworkers in the office, stopping them from working to look at my monitor. LOL
Dylan, you are like the funny af uncle everyone is looking forward to to see at the family meetup - just for astrophotography. Please never stop being yourself :DD
@Dylan O'Donnell I'm gonna try my best to replicate your example mask and apply it to all my photos! 🤣 In all seriousness, though, this was a great explanation and tutorial for masks!
As someone who is known in the community as "James Webb" because my astro images are actually better than hubble. This video was ok. I am JUST KIDDING. I SUCK AT THIS. Thanks man and glad to see your stuff again. Completely understandable but man I missed your videos! Take care bro and glad everyone is on the mend!
LP usually decreases the dynamic range and contrast in an image, so yes, applying the inverted layer mask on a levels adjustment layer or contrast adjustment layer helps process it out a bit.
Thanks for the video Dylan! I almost forgot how wonderful and easy using layers is! You do really need to keep those teenagers from editing your videos before you post them 🤣
Shit, Dylan you are following me around the sky, last time it was that weeee N70 in the LMC not now its NGC3576 I just got 4 hours of narrowband so this will be useful.Cool stuff.Mind you you should do a processing vid:) Yours are always better than mine:(
Why would anyone consider calling NGC 3576 the Statue of Liberty Nebula if it would never be visible from the continental United States, or even France?
Great now that Pixinsight knows masks can not only be x rated they can also procreate news masks they will never integrate this feature. Or we'll if they did they would have to call it " local mask sterilization" 🤣 Keep up the great tuts man👊
That is about your funniest video ever, don't every let your wife talk you out of it. PS, have you played with GeneralisedHypobolicStretch, it's another PI game changer.
Mmmmm. Yeah great video. But will have to watch it many times before I can attempt this in Photoshop. Only 2 years into PS and still dont know alot. Glad you said taking the images is only half the story. Aint that the truth
instructions unclear, and I am now in federal prison for nuking the red subscribe button on my phone, from orbit. disliked + ratio + (would unsub but my phone got nuked)
I always appreciate it when content creators show me which knob I need to twiddle to get pleasing results. Thanks Dylan!
Happy to help you twiddle your knobs. That’s what i’m here for.

dude... 🤣 loving that creative and graphic mask interpretation
I think it gets the point across :)
That was a very ballsy explanation about masks :D
Thanks Dylan, been missing your regular dose of astro amus/learning. Just in the nick of time too as I start my PI journey.
Haha I got good meds. 👍 Thanks for the mention Dylan! 😀
No worries :)
Thanks for the cheery sign off! Love you too, brother!
Great tip Dylan! Takes me back to when I used to create, uh, inverted layer masks on the schoolyard wall... 😇
Hahah
Best processing video, ever. Bookmarked!
Thanks! Despite my hijinx there is some useful info here :)

Cheers Dylan. Great content as always! Cheers mate, Dann
Thanks Dan!
Can we have next time a variance in bodypartsshapes used in masks please :)
for the diversity and inclusion sake of course
Great tutorial, even though a Solar astronomer here(when I decides to appear) always good to learn and apply techniques

Thanks for the great video, Dylan. Can this technique be used to remove light pollution/glare from an astro image?

But Dylan, you CAN use masks and inverse masks in Pixinsight perfectly easily. I do it all the time.
I said that :)
