- Flying the FIRST Cirrus G2 Vision Jet in Australia. Watch take-off and landings, slow flight, Electronic Stability & Protection (ESP), plus a look inside and outside this $1.96M Private Jet packed full of technology.
We depart Moorabbin Airport and land at Latrobe Valley where I take over. Watch me flying the Cirrus SF50 Jet, see how it handles, get performance stats and experience what it's like to fly in the brand new G2 Vision Jet.
I've been waiting to fly the Cirrus Jet for ages now, and it was a really special moment when it arrived in Australia. So a big thanks to Stuart, Cirrus Australia, and ARC Aviation arcaviation.co... for organising this flight.

VERY IMPORTANT: I am a private pilot and am NOT qualified to give flying instruction. This video, like all videos on this channel, has been significantly edited from the original source footage and is provided for entertainment purposes only. Many radio calls and procedures have been omitted. If you have any questions about anything you see or hear, please speak to a Certified Flying Instructor first.
Wonderful time flying with you Stefan! Thanks for joining me and great video!! Cool stuff.
Thanks for your time Justin, was great flying with you. Enjoy Tassie, and hope to see you again soon mate.
Hi Justion, sorry to disturb you. Which are the Glasses that is using the pilot from Vision JET in the minute 3:22. The are very nice... Thank you from your answer...
Good to see you on this Justin, Kelly AvBase KSJC.
Ravent I just picked those up. They are Oakley Holbrook Metal glasses with Prizm Polarized lenses. Hard to find polarized glasses that don’t dim the screens in Aviaiton. These don’t decrease the flight displays at all and remove glare from the front windshield. They look pretty good as well ;)
Props (boom boom) to the instructor.
As a helicopter pilot sometimes I envy the ability to take your hands off the controls and just cruise. Eat a sandwich, play with the IPad. A plane is a machine that wants to fly. A helicopter is a machine that wants to spin out of control if left to do what it wants.
lol
Sounds like riding a horse versus riding a bull!
@@IrishDragon666 if you were to let go of the controls in straight and level flight, it would immediately pitch nose up, and roll over.
Yup
@@JH-qqqqqiim Hey, Im a commercial pilot and have never been in a rotary wing aircraft before. Are there no autopilot systems in the smaller helis?
That instructor really knows how to do his job.
Yeah it was great flying with Justin.
He has one of the best jobs in the world.
Well I flew it years ago on X-Plane
Still counts, add it to the logbook. Technically I’ve flown a 747 out of Princess Juliana airport too 😅
@@StefanDrury LOL
I actually knew all the botton placements during the whole video 😂😂
and me
I think we all did. I still can’t find the emergency break system in the cockpit itself.
Milkshake undoubtedly thought the new Cirrus VisionJet was “udderly” too cool! 😜
This comment needs more upvotes 🐄
Stefan Drury ; The silhouette of Milkshake on your starboard wing in a recent video prompted me to think of a name for the times you take a trip somewhere, like your Outback series. “On The Wing”, in association with Milkshake Productions, for example. Just a fun, and silly thought. I enjoy your work immensely. Lots of logic, reason, and common sense, based on your unique perspective for General Aviation. Clear sky, and a tailwind, mate. 😎👍
9:51 Stephan: “I’ve got to buy one of these”
Bank manager on Monday “ummmm...”
.
Nobody:
Stefan Drury: *Flies a Cirrus Vision SF50*
Me: Aww that's easy, it's good enough in X-Plane 10 Mobile and X-Plane 11
Stefan Drury and all Cirrus Vision SF50 pilots: Are we a joke to you?
I guess I've just found my 2020s goal 😆
Pitching 45°...
"Now try to overcome the auto pilot"
Thrusts yoke further...
What!?👍👌
Probably easier with an instructor like this, then a spazz.
I saw the first Cirrus Vision jet video years ago and thought "What an amazing little aircraft", then wondered whatever became of it. Now I know.
Gorgeous! Simply Gorgeous!
"I officially hate you now Stuart" ... I now have to tell Jacky we're saving up for a jet!
Something i have a hard time clicking videos like this one because i fear the jealousy that will ensue..
Cirrus generally leave me cold but this jet does impress
They have a guy that owns one at my local airport, he did a low fly by one day and it was amazing
Party poster 555 low passes get you killed, they often end in a mishap. You don’t realize how fast everything’s going until you get close to the ground at speed. Those little 20-30ft changes in altitude at 3000 feet are a bitch when you are like 30 feet above the ground. I did a couple, they worked out, but having stuff “work out” isn’t the idea up there.
Awesome Video Stef! I love the camera angles on this one, you and the vision jet guy talking while having some epic views on the outside. I actually showed my younger sister this quick montage of the plane and she was so excited about it. So awesome job Stef!
Not jealous at all. Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
Ok, I'm very jealous!
You’d have loved it Evan. Look forward to seeing the AvPlan branded one rolling in :)
@@StefanDrury We'll have to convince Cirrus to make one in an orange livery! 😉
Haha me too
Loved the Video! As always keep up the great work. Don’t we all wish we could own a vision jet with the new safety features Cirrus just released!
Nice flight and you kinda looked scared on the landing mate!, buh it happens I feel you!!
With that instructer, I'm passing ma license today!! He's great!!!
Absolutely loved that video Stef! Can’t wait to see you cruising around in a vision jet next year 🤣
I watched it fly over my house!
Eye bugged out, pants full. So I guess you enjoyed it mate!
At 8:57 he did not blink the entire approach or landing roll, true eyes of focus
How much did your sr22 cost?
Well, Stefan, I think the Vision Jet is stupid. What do you have to say about that?
Thank you for videos wish I was a pilot had 330 hrs long time ago was no work back in 1985
9:27 (the pilot) being pointed a gun to ur head be like
Sick video! These jets are off the charts amazing. Such a great way to enter the jet market at a competitive price!
Showing the guys faces not the instrument panel....thumbs down.
The most amazing thing about this plane is that it exists if you consider how many plane makers have tried and failed to bring a very light jet to market. I think Cirrus has pretty much risked everything make the Vision Jet.
Cirrus failed. They basically went bankrupt between the SF50 and a huge drop in sales in the SR22, due to the gas prices and recession in 2011. It only exists now because Cirrus was bailed out and is fully owned by the Chinese government.
Oooof
@@sj65535 Those are some pretty strong claims, SJ.
And now with Autoland, how can the boss say no to flying wth you now.
What a joy flying. Vision Jet recently revealed the first Safe Return emergency feature. Absolutely mindblowing.
How much would it cost to fly this with an instructor just once?
9:26 nice face haha what did you see there :)) nice flight and I just miss the front view :(
It's a good thing I will never be able to afford one of these because the temptation would be too real haha
I will buy one some day in the near future .... its my "Vision"
great video luv it.
thats what piggy banks are for
tolle idee
Wunderschn Spielzeug👌

That's it, I'm sold and buying one!!... in my dreams 😂😁☹️😭😭
Beautiful plane! Would love to take it for a flight myself, some day 😉
I am flying this jet in xplane 10
Stefan please PLEASE buy one so I can live vicariously through you and the videos.👍
Amazing! Only word for it really
Awesome vlog - thanks for sharing your adventures.
Love the part with the landing - you were highly concentrated with your eyes wide open.
We have a Cirrus Jet at our local airfield Bonn-Hangelar EDKB in Germany operating at a only 800 metres short runway.

Stefan at 9:27 was like: 👁👃👁
Oh, its a little less than 2 million US$. Thought it would be much more. But still ............ too much for me :-) Thanks for the ride Stef.
I'm just getting into sim flying and have been flying this plane in X Plane 11. I'm a tad of a nervous flyer in real life but after messing with the sim and watching this video, It really makes me want a Vision Jet, hahaha! now I know what to get once I win the lottery!
Thanks for posting Stefan and Justin.
I need to find a make a friend with a jet
HoLEE the music is loud...cool video but having to dive for my volume knob repeatedly definitely detracts.
Awesome video and experience. THANK YOU!! This must be the dream plane, particularly since this morning, where the Safe Return Emergency Autoland system has just been announced, also available for retrofitting in 2020 onwards. What more can one expect from an airplane...! You seem to be doing a great job during landing.. I have only flown the VJ in the 6-dof motion simulator in Poznan (Poland) Cirrus Center and it was indeed awesome.
I was flying a Beech Premier jet into Amarillo and the controller said I was #2 following another "jet." I thought okay no worries, kept my approach speed. Next thing I know the controller is telling me I have a 40 knot overtake on this jet in front of me. WTF? I'm doing 140 knots, what jet flies at 100 knots? I would fall out of the sky at 100 knots on final. Well it was a Cirrus jet in front of me. ATC hates this aircraft because owners can get up to the flight levels with it and then become the proverbial slow driver in the passing lane on the highway. Jams up the whole system.
Sorry but IMHO the Cirrus jet has very little ramp presence when lined up with other real jets. It's egg shape looks almost comical and is quite unattractive. I would much rather just show up at my destination in a top of the line Cirrus prop job than this jet. If you are the only jet on the field then yes you will be Mr Cool to everyone but park at a jet FBO and I guarantee you will look and feel as if you just rolled up in a Cessna one-fifty.
You could see the concentration and enjoyment all at once. Great video
Yeah focussing hard on that approach, but man that was fun! Cheers Mark 👍
lovely video very rare to see them at all and to fly one is next level ! ,this landed at Bankstown the other day and i made a video about it the other day ! and i could not believe that it landed there
The intense look on your face made me think of what my face must have looked like when I did my first touch and go and full stop many moons ago. I was in a piper arrow and not a small REALLY expensive jet, but I'm sure the feelings were similar. Don't damage this plane! 😉
I really, really, really enjoyed this. I felt like I was there. Thanks. Glad I found your channel.
Couple things. What's the 50 foot obstacle mean?
Also. How many people or weight can this thing carry with full tanks?
I have read that it carries 400 pounds with full tanks. That isn't much.
Your channel is awesome!! I've been a big fan for a while now, and I'm working on my PPL and started my own UA-cam channel as well! Really appreciate the great videos, and inspiration! I'd be so thrilled if you watched any of my videos!!
Hondajet carries 7 cruise at 422kn duel engine Rate of climb 4100 FPM. Avg cost 4.5-5.3 million
I used to like you....................................................................................................................
Still do, just a bit jealous
Could only find 2 quid down the back of the settee do you know anyone with a million settee's?
I'm daydreaming, if I had "money is no object", if I would pick this or the Hondajet. I know they are not the same but I love them both the most.
Anyone else getting huge Bob Ross vibes from the Cirrus guy? well, the airplane version of him anyways...
The thing I don’t get about videos like this is what is so damn interesting about watching pilots fly? Of all the things the cameras could be focused on, we get pilot cams! How is this supposed to be interesting?
Great video ! But... Do you ever blink your eyes? (you don't move an inch during the approach ^^)
The background music you use in your videos are always very good.
This comment means a lot, it takes me a long time to source and edit the music so I appreciate that, thanks.
What a ride...
#teamtrees
I don’t like the way vision jet lands and handles. U are much better off with a phenom, a Honda jet, or even an Aerostar!
Incredible plane. I had the opportunity to see it this year in Friedrichshafen and I was blown away!!
I hate flying, this instructor gives me hope of overcoming my anxiety.... :-)
Yay! VIsionJet G2 with auto-throttle!
He didn't blink during takeoff and landing. I wouldn't have either, first time flying a jet.
You feel so uncomfortable flying it, for real, go back to a ground vehicle like a car or a truck, you have no pilot attributes.
Saw it yesterday near YMMB and went, what the hell is that thing doing? No I know.
Great flight Stefan ! Was that your first landing in a jet?
This really is the first “plane for dummies.” It might as well take off by itself too.
Not sure what the point of this aircraft is. Notch up running costs to insane levels, not a big jump in speed, and not great range.
Nice. Range is very handy. Mate you could go places in that. Put the Cirrus on trade a plane.
And am here with 700euros € in my bank account and dreaming about buying this 😂
Gosh. Great experience. Love to have the opportunity
watched this fly directly over my place yesterday afternoon on your way back into moorabbin, amazing how quiet it is
haha you look terrified on your landing xD
Wish I hade the money to buy one. I fly one on my simulator. great airplane. very easy to fly.
Awesomeness
how much runway is needed for cirrus - how does that compare to pilatus pc-12
To be a cirrus sales rep. Travel the world with a nice jet
GtaV.
That’s fricken awesome Stef!
A cirrus coolest plane i know as for now👌🏽
Is it an aviation club or it requires a license to get there ?
so the question is..... when do we see EYZ getting traded for one?
NEVER! EYZ for ever. But she might like a big sister...
Wow,perfect jet
I hope sometime i can buy it,amen...
Been wondering when you're doing this... aaaaawwwwwwesome!
That was cool but it seems kind of expensive for it's size to me. Thanks Stefan. You gonna get one?
I’ve still got some big plans for my SR22 EYZ next year before even contemplating another aircraft. But it was great fun to fly.
I like how the knob on the Gear up lever looks like a tiny wheel:)
I thought that the new g2 had an autothrottle
Amazing video Stefan, that looked like a lot of fun! I'm not sure if you'll remember but a few weeks ago I said I had my skills test and you asked me to report back. Well I've passed and am now a fully qualified EASA PPL license holder. My journey has begun. Thanks for the inspiration and I've really enjoyed watching your journey and how you've pushed yourself as a pilot over the years! John.
YEAH! Congratulations John that's awesome news mate. That's another huge milestone on your journey and one you should feel really proud of for all the hard work you put in to get to this point. Onwards and upwards for you Cap'n, nice one.
Congrats, John.
Well. I fly it on X-Plane 10 Mobile and X-Plane 9 tho.
Does a factory version has an optional machine gun?
