Cindy, if you hit that TLS with the heat gun for a few seconds after baking it will give it a very clear, glossy finish too. Thanks so much for this comparison, I've was curious about the Fimo. Tfs Lyn
It is different in Canada and the U.S. than on the European continent. In Europe we usually have Fimo as a first choice, maybe because it is a german product. Nowadays Sculpey is more and more available too, here. If you go to the russian youtube-ladies, like Anna Oriona, you see she uses mostly Fimo too. Rusalina uses Cernit, also a european, high quality, polymer clay. Also Monica Resta (MoClay) from Italy, and Sandra (Sandrartes) from Spain use mostly Fimo.
dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend lately =)
I have used TLS and Kato. Kato is my absolute favorite. I bought two large bottles of both so I use the TLS for when I want to bond things together and Kato when I want clarity. I will probably continue to buy both because I don't like to use the Kato where it won't be seen like when bonding baked and raw clay. :) - Heidi
Thank you for another great video. Wanted to mention that I painted on top of a baked white pendant and then used Papercraft liquid glass as I wanted a really glossy shine and it looked beautiful. Have used the Sculpey Liquid Clay and looked nice but the liquid glass (no need to bake) really brought out the design, not sure how long it will last but does set hard and looks beautiful. Just another option, thanks again!
You are so informative and take away all the question marks that pop up invisibly above my head lol. You are definitely a necessary teacher in the world of Polymer & techniques. Thanks again for a great video!
Once again you have answered so many questions that pop up regarding the differences between the various brands. It's so helpful that you showed them before and after baking and also that you demonstrated the flexibility and strength. We carry them all at Shades of Clay. If it's OK with you, I think we'll post your video on our site for all to see.Thank you!
+Shades of Clay Yes that would be great Wendy! BTW everyone, Wendy Orlowski (owner of Shades of Clay) is the one that invented the CaBezels. ua-cam.com/video/rAbi8gTNtf0/v-deo.html She also carries lots of great polymer clay products in her online store. :)
I have just bought an 8 ounce bottle of the Kato Clear Liquid Polyclay Medium, wishing I bought the fimo product now, hopefully when it’s thin the Kato won’t look yellow. Great comparison though I would have liked to see the thin smears held up to the camera, and obviously we can’t see the slight orange peel effect of the fimo, but purely on clarity and colour the fimo looked by far the best.
My Kato transparent LiquidClay tends to separate, but the colored ones don't. I have a big bottle of it, and was planning on using it for years, like my TLS. Any ideas on preventing the separation? Also, I'm trying to come up with a paste that I would use like mehnde, or like precious metal clay in a syringe (I've never actually tried this), but the liquid clays seem to be too stringy, elastic, and self leveling. Has anyone had success with this?
Hi, could I ask please if you have tried your heat gun on any of these to get a glazed look finish. I've seen a couple of clay artists doing it and was wondering what you think??? Love your tutorials and thank you so much for them.
If I have a baked piece of polymer jewelry, and I coat it with liquid Kato on one side, put it in the oven for the prescribed time to cure, remove it from the oven, let it cool, turn the piece over, can I then put a coat on the back, and bake it again, without the first side coat sticking or melting? Thank you.
You forgot to peel off the thinner samples : ( oh well. I really wanna get the Kato now and I've been wanting to get the fimo! I have both sculpey ones and I love the bake and bond for attaching pieces together! Oh and it's not just yours my Bake and bond is def thicker than TLS it's made that way so pieces attach better without falling off.
Hi Cindy, I've loved your channel for years and refer back quite a bit. Thank you and your husband for all the hard work you put in. The labor of love shows! Recently I've been frustrated over the price of fimo gel and its EXTREMELY limited availability!! What's going on with that???? I refuse to compromise on clarity and I see no way around having to buy the fimo brand but, my gosh!! Its SOOOO expensive!
Can any liquid polymer clay products be painted over a small cement / concrete flower and then baked in the oven to give the cement a ceramic glazed look?
Just fyi, Fimo Deco Gel is available on Amazon.ca for much cheaper than DeSerres, it's $13 compared to almost $19 at DeSerres. And it's available with free shipping if I remember correctly. I really want to see those 2 other liquid clays you didn't mention, the gold and silver ones. I saw them on a website a while back and been curious how they looked baked since.
+brikhouse22 I prefer to buy from independents. Because of its abusive, "always lower wages" policies, and even inhumane labor practices, and cutthroat business practices, I don't think people should buy from Amazon. Brick and Mortar stores may cost more, but that money pays wages and taxes for the good of the community, that would otherwise go into Jeff Bezos's or The Walton's pockets.
I order from hobby lobby online they fill your orders immediately and arrive fast for no extra cost. My first order got returned by the post office undelivered. I called the hobby lobby the next morning and didn't wait, they refilled my order right then.
HI I love you channel am I new subscriber I was wondering what kind of gloss should I use for polymer clay after its bake I want my beads to look shiny
Hello Cindy. Great tutorial as always. At 8:10 you talk about the 'tiny particles' in the Fimo liquid clay. I have the same problem as well. Did you ever find out what the particles are and if you can remove them? I was wondering if it is because the liquid clay has not been used for some time and the air in the bottle is 'attacking ' the clay making it gritty. I had the same problem with household paint that had not been used for a while. The paint had started to become gritty as well with small hard particles in the can. This could be strained out, but I bought a new can of paint. Thanx.
Hi there, no I have not found out what those particles are and whether it would be beneficial to strain them out or not. Sounds like it would be a good thing to test.
If I paint Kato liquid clay on something made with Premo and cure it at 300f to get the higher shine, will this burn the Premo which has to be cured at 275?
I used Fimo liquid gel on a project of mine which involves a glass eye how can i remove the liquid of the glass eye after it’s baked can i use a little white spirit on it to remove gel.
Once again a other great information video! Thank you for sharing Cindy! Would just like to wish you and your family a Happy Blessed Healthy New Year! Hugs Liz X
My bake and bond is hard like dried glue but I didn't do anything to it. I just opened it and two days later it's hard and rubbery! :( How do I make it liquid again?
Thank you for all your cool videos! Do you know if when you make a pendant with Sculpey liquid, the pendant hardens just like Polymer clay after baking? Or do they stay semi soft? I can't imagine it turning hard after watching this :) (I'm pretty new to polymer clay)
i have seen some people on youtube making fimo liquid clearder with a heatgun because when it comes uot the oven it wasn't so translucent. Do you have used a heatgun for this liquid polymer clay comparison.
FYI-Donna Kato has a free class on her craftartedu.com site where she recommended baking her liquid clay at 275 and after taking it out of the oven, hitting it with a heat gun to get it very clear. I use TLS to glue layers together and the Kato liquid for shiny finishes. I'm wondering if any of them can be poured and baked in a silicone mold. Anyone tried this?
+SeawardCreations I've tried it with limited success using clear and color, but they seem to get crumbly. The silicone mold performed well, but little crumbles of clay were left in the mold, and hard to remove. I'm still working on it. Hitting any of them with a heat gun, when I've used them as the clear part of an eye, seems to work well.
Hi Cindy, may I ask how you made those little reddish dots in the yellow part of the window? I think those are pastels but how come the bits didnt resolve or melt in the liquid clay? Do you have any tutorial on that?
As always thank you for doing the research, it would be very expensive for me to do it, so I am so appreciative of you. Very helpful
You are more than welcome! Thank you for coming in to say that! ❤❤❤

waterflaws nom deguerre well not all of us have the extra money to buy things locally and just buy where it's cheapest.
I've had my bottle of Sculpey TLS for quite a long time and has gotten very, very thick...is there a way to thin it out a bit?
I can't find fimo liquid! I checked Michel's and I don't have a hobby lobby near me! Where could I get it?
I order from hobby lobby online they fill your orders immediately and arrive fast for no extra cost. My first order got returned by the post office undelivered. I called the hobby lobby the next morning and didn't wait, they refilled my order right then.

You should be able to just peel the liquid clay off the glass eye with your clay blade or your fingernails. No need for any spirits to remove it.
Thank you very helpful
im doing a similar project, did the fimo liquid clay look good on it? or was it not translucent enough?
where I live in Sydney I can't find TLS anywhere but I found fimo in one store. saviour.
im the exact opposite. i can find TLS anywhere but fimo only online, sometimes. youre so lucky, i love fimo 😊

Hi. This was very informative and helpful. I was wondering, can liquid polymer clay be created from it's own block of clay? Please advise.
Thank you for all your cool videos! Do you know if when you make a pendant with Sculpey liquid, the pendant hardens just like Polymer clay after baking? Or do they stay semi soft? I can't imagine it turning hard after watching this :) (I'm pretty new to polymer clay)
Liquid clay is not really hard when it is baked... it's kind of rubbery.
Thanks Cindy! I've ordered some so I can experiment :)
Just the info I was looking for! Thanks!

No Hanna, I didn't use a heat gun for this video, but you're right it can help to make liquid clay a little bit clearer.
Where in the U.S. OF A can I purchase an 8oz bottle of Sculpey translucent liquid clay?
+Kathy Fuller I got mine at Michael's. They usually have it.
Directions say 20-30 min @ 300-350 for Kato

Great video...thanks
I wish you told how to thin these products as they age.... can't find my answer anywhere on UA-cam.... or Google.
Use some Sculpey Clay Softener to thin your liquid clay, but be careful not to over thin it. You can't easily make it thicker.
Kato Liquid Clay comes in several colors. Have you used any of those?
Hi Cindy, may I ask how you made those little reddish dots in the yellow part of the window? I think those are pastels but how come the bits didnt resolve or melt in the liquid clay? Do you have any tutorial on that?
Very helpful thank you!
Thanks so much for saying that Locke!
I use Kato Poly Clay since it works well and it's the cheapest
Not cheap, lol, least expensive
Great video my friend.I enjoy it very much!!! Sifoutv Pottery
Why is this being called liquid polymer clay. IT does not dry hard it seems like clay does.
Do you do and useful videos?
I thought she said bacon bond lol
LOL
informative, but could have been done in half the time....
