For sure! And that's really intriguing to hear. I wasn't keyed in to climbing news or FA's at that time so I didn't know Nalle got so much pushback for grading it V17. He was ahead of his time 👍🏻👍🏻
@@augustclimbing Who knows if watches all these videos and reads the comments 😅 I am a fellow Finn and even here the man is an enigma. As far as I know, he mostly does the same as always: climbs hard and looks for beautiful first ascents around the world!
@@ttk5448 he could be reading these comments right now! Haha that would be awesome. Hopefully one day we’ll get to hear more about his climbing from recent years 👍🏻👍🏻
thats awesome! i absolutely respect elias, just uncompromisedly sticking with that unique beta! what a boulder, keeps on giving! and also Nalle putting up the FA, the more i think about it, the more crazy it is and ahead of its time! thanks for the update! :)
Hi, Thomas! Yes, his perseverance on commitment on this project is so admirable. Good call on Nalle's FA too... he didn't even know if it was possible, nothing that hard had ever been done in bouldering before, and there were no prior sends to draw from in terms of possible beta! FAs truly are another level!!
Really cool! Happy for Elias, what an effort! At the same time, I would so much like to see Nalle coming back from the shadows and share his thoughts about all these ascents and other advancements around Burden. Sure he knows what's going on, right?
Yeah, that's a really interesting point! As far as I can tell, he hasn't given any interviews or shared any updates on social media in recent years. It would be very nice to hear his thoughts on all of this. Perhaps he's decided he doesn't like the attention... I guess we can only speculate. One thing is for sure.... he gave the climbing community an incredible boulder problem!
Is burden the most sent v17? I am not as up on all the bouldering activity but it seems like a lot of climbers are gravitating towards this v17 in particular and I wonder if there is a reason why.
Great question! I believe Alphane in Switzerland still has Burden beat for the most V17 sends at 5 total ascents (Shawn Raboutou, Aidan Roberts, Will Bosi, Simon Lorenzi and Jakob Schubert). There could be several reasons why climbers have gravitated toward Burden of Dreams but probably one of the biggest is because it's the world's first proposed V17 and hadn't seen any repeats until recently (April 2023). I'm curious to hear what others think though? And thanks so much for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
On the contrary, guess BoD probably still is the hardest 9A atm.most top boulderers have tried and failed on this masterpiece, including the whole Mellow team. Then you know it is stiff, even for this grade
Good memory! Now that you say it, that does sound familiar. It's pretty cool that Elias stuck with this beta and ultimately sent the boulder with it! Thanks for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice video, August! Really pleasent to watch you! I'm always amazed about how much knowledge you got in these videos!
Hi, Kristine! Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate your kind words 👍🏻👍🏻 And thanks for commenting as always!
Pretty cool that this is becoming benchmark V17 when back when Nalle FA'ed so many people gave him crap for calling it V17.

For sure!! Let’s hope we get to see another Burden of Dreams ascent soon 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for your comment 🙂

BoD has 4 sends, Alphane has 5 at least

@@ElGuapoDeSantoPoco it would seem so!!
I think Will Bosi tried this beta for a while too. I thought he said something like it made the start less hard but lower percentage.

So proud an italian guy has reached the top of the food chain in the bouldering world 🤙
Hey, Emiliano! For sure!! He's such a great climber and seems like a really nice guy too 👍🏻👍🏻
crazy 😮🙀 i didn't even know he was working on Burden, so i am shocked 😂🎉🎉🎉
That is quite the shock then!! I love it 😆 I appreciate your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
