Don't get used to it! lol -- I did make 2-3 of these sort of 'pretty bases' for guide backdrops though. So you will see this one again in future guides, at least.
These guides are soooo good, Adam. They’re super thorough while still being concise. I also love how you mention like 8 other guides you’re working on in each one, Rimworld sure is a knowledge heavy game lol.
Thank you, you saved me so much time. All of a sudden my pawns stopped meditating at the tree. They were Unrestricted with their zoning. I thought it was a 1.4 bug. But a wall of a prison cell had been destroyed and I didn't see it. The Anima Tree area had become an area for prisoners only. It would have taken me forever to figure that out if I hadn't consulted this guide. Thank you again!
I really like your guides. Very high information density, no nonsense but also with nice visualisation. As a rimworld vet there isnt always something new I havent pickt up on by myself or by podcasting your playthroughs but I still watch them all. Had fond memories on the melee run as you mentioned that you cant meditate at a prison. That was quite the riddle back then ;)
Thanks! And yeah, I definitely remember figuring that out during the melee run and have never forgotten (for good reason). Was pretty puzzling at the time.
That is an incredibly beautiful, well-thought out base and an even BETTER tutorial. You’re, like, the absolute nonplusultra of tutorials and teaching stuff, not just of Rimworld, but in general.
the thoroughness and concise delivery of information is top tier on this channel. If you don't do UA-cam full time as your career, you deserve to buy I'd hope you are taking advantage of these skills in your professional life.
It’s great to see these guides from you. You are one of the most knowledgeable RimWorld players I’ve come across and you really gave me a new love for the game. Thanks so much for the videos!
Okay, first of all, that is a gorgeous base. Secondly, while I don't often watch your 20 hour videos, I just kinda drop in to watch the odd guide, I'm gonna sub because youve been pumping them a lot lately.
I'm glad you made this. I have been playing and didn't notice that it had been updated that those without the Natural meditation type couldn't grow Anima Grass. I also didn't realize that the loss of Anima Grass growth was capped and relatively negligible in order to build near it. I seem to rarely have people with Natural in my colony, but its good to know regardless.
No problem! I definitely suggest trying out a playthrough with the Lost Tribe starting scenario. You should then start with 5 natural pawns. Settle near the tree and have 5 psycasters before you know it. :P
Thank You for giving me this info! I'm new to the game and didn't know i could see the actual penalty. Totally worth it. So silly for developers to make this limit in the first place. It's a cool mechanic and having it incorporated into your base like you did is so cool.
Man, I knew building near the anima tree was okay, but I've never realized it wasn't _that_ bad, even though I'm a wiki addict for most games. I haven't had a tribal in a while, but I've definitely wasted the most valuable resource in the game--time--building very little near the tree (I always stick a table and chair nearby). Good stuff to know for next time I have tribals.
One important, missing bit of info: royals prefer to meditate on thrones over unassigned meditation spots. So tribal royals need an assigned meditation spot if they are supposed to grow grass.
Hi Adam, love the guides and content you put out. Could you make a guide on Idology, I know that video could potentially be massive, but what builds would you suggest to beginners that would offer a potentially successful playthrough. Thanks for the content.
I will put it on the list. It may be easier to just do a guide on each Ideology and then maybe two separate ones - a tier list type video and a 'these ones are good to use if you are just starting out' or such. Thanks for watching!
The thing about mods is that they are like drugs in rimworld - once you use them enough time addiction kicks in and is very hard to get over it, so careful with mods. As example once I tried CE and VPE there is no way for me to play vanilla combat and psycasts anymore.
Tell truth, I honestly thought that it was some kind of deadly sin for the pawns to make anything near the tree so I just never utilized the use of it and instead block the dang thing off for all eternity and never grow any Anima grass at all causing me to get irritated when the thing is smack dab in the middle of the only 3 hydrothermal vents of the map so I had to cancel that run even though I got epic pawns rolled (I don't use mods) like a family of fast learners each fitting into a role for the custom ideology I made but after watching this I'll just lock the dang thing inside a cell in the middle of my base where it will never know freedom for as long as it exists.
I've spent sooo long trying to do tribal runs with the tree, and being annoyed that it never grew grass so I couldn't link someone... TIL you have to place meditation spots and schedule meditation.
The moss won't grow over top of the anima grass from my testing. The actual Dryad eggs might, though, I didn't specifically test those as I generally just leave the dryads at the tree immature to bait easy animal insanity events :P
hey, you said in this guide that you would go over how to fit meditation into your biphasic sleep schedule (in your schedule guide) but I can't seem to find it in that guide. Just wondering if you have a timestamp/can give a quick answer
Sorry, I should have made that section bigger/longer. It was mostly in the infographic. basically, meditation forces wake-up. So just put it before sleep to be safe. Depending on how much grass or psyfocus you want, you can play with the amount a bit. I generally just mirror what I am doing with recreation for meditation.
Psycasts do not add to wealth, nor pawn market value. As far as anima stones/shrines connected to the Anima tree, I believe each one offsets it by 2% for a total of +8% with four. I haven't tested it or looked at it specifically in a long time, though, so should probably double check in game. :P - Thanks for watching!
@@AdamVsEverything thanks for the response. Your playthroughs rock. It's cool to see a RTS guy tackle this game so tactfully. Does the 8% offset reduce the max 30% to 22% or does it just negate one instance of a player built structure in there? Essentially what I'm asking is it worth it to build them lol
Do you know how many people gets you to regrow what amount of anima grass? I thought it was just one for one, but I just started a new playthough and both one and two people both regrow one
Each pawn that meditates contributes to growing the grass. The more you have meditating, the faster more grass grows. Think of it like, in Age of Empires or other RTS games, adding more workers to constructing a building. It just makes it faster.

Each should increase psyfocus gain rate of the meditating by another 2% (doesn't impact grass growth or the tree itself) stacking to 8% max. The wiki and game files seem to say it still does as well.
Is there a way to get my natural royal to go back to the tree instead of his throne? Soon as he got his throne, he goes there to meditate vs the tree, and I want to use him to get more grass.
Lol, who did you pay to construct your bases? Watching your playthroughs, there's no way any of this base is yours. 😁A great guide as always. Keep it up!
Who is this person that is using a Drydas from pruned Gauranlen trees and why is he impersonating Adam vs Everything? Nice guide. The voiceover was paced and clear. Yes, that is what I meant. None of the Guaralen trees in this video are being pruned. Another bonus is that the immature Dryads can be the target of 'mass insanity' which is considered a 'major threat' event, but are very easy to kill. The untamed Dryads will also automatically stomp out nearby fires.
