I'm glad he's experiencing quality of life now and the joys of being able to spend time with his family. Life goes by far too quickly and it's easy for years to go by not even being fully present in the moment to appreciate the blessings in your own life
I am sorry to see him go because I feel he has given Scotland so much positives. I accept his reasoning and I applaud that he led us in Scotland to decry the genocide in Gaza from the early days. There are so few people in government who can call out oppression against the innocents. He was one. You have my best wishes, Mr. Yousaf.
It’s a shame, as a devout Labour voter this was the first year I switched and voted snp because of their stance on the war in Gaza. I’m disappointed a politician like humza isn’t in charge today.
We all know the two UK governments that have supported genocide are complicit but we must take the individuals to court and make a bold statement with private prosecutions.
Loved Humza for speaking out against Israel. However, I was not happy with him causing the Bute House agreement with the Scottosh Greens to end by pushing back Scotland's carbon zero goals
I don't agree with his approach to protecting minority rights but I do believe Hamza is a very genuine person who has overall contributed greatly to Muslims and the Scottish people as a whole.
Our beautiful nation GB is composed of good people and values, political pressures and global pressures can misguide a few, which is what has happened to our country. We need to push out hate devisive rhetoric.
This was an amazing interview. I hope Humza Yousaf decides to take the fight against the fascists that have established themselves across the west. He seems to recognize the rhetorical games but also the way that obscene wealth empowers fascism, and I think more explicitly anti-fascist political figures would be a boon. I really appreciate his unwavering stance on the rights of marginalized people, especially his commitment to transgender people even after the political price his party paid. People who say that the anti-trans stuff is just a distraction from other right-wing policies are wrong, just like those who said that Nazi antisemitism was just a distraction from their economic goals were wrong.
People who support the SNP /another referendum will say anything to make their side look better. This guy was the failure of all failures, he has the reigns for a few months and destroyed the party. Quite crazy that he is thought of so well by his own side considering the damage that he did, but in politics nobody will ever be self critical.
If you think this is rock bottom for the SNP then you don't have much knowledge of the party. Things will hopefully get worse for them at the next scottish election as well.
Probably safer in Scotland than England. By how much is debatable. A decent enough man, just not particularly good at politics. Sadly, that's not at all uncommon in the UK. ☹
I maybe wrong but Mohammad Sarwar was the first elected leader in scotland, although back then 1992 there was no first minister, again i am speculating
The SNP are not interested in fighting the climate crisis. The reason the climate committee said the targets were not achievable was because the government had not put enough into the fight early enough.
Anyone who has admiration for Humza Yousaf needs to have a good look at themselves. His bigotry towards anything Glasgow Rangers related is disgusting and his double standards make me sick. Still waiting for the apology from this man about his tweets demanding an investigation into an obviously fake vide of Catholic Rangers player supposedly abusing the pope. He said if he was wrong he would apologise, so where is the apology? And before you say it, I'm a republican who supports independence - I just happen to be a Rangers supporter as well.
Remember when he went to war with that nursery and called them racists? Found that there was no evidence of that at all and didn't apologize. He is a race grifter.
He failed at almost every government position his Mammy (Nicola Sturgeon) gave him, she handed him the keys to the kingdom and he fumbled the bag within a year - and then we have him focusing highly on fringe issues that are easier to deal with than the actual problems facing the people of Scotland under devolvement. Good riddance Humza Useless, I’m very disappointed.
Delighted he has gone, failure after failure for the people of Scotland. How he got to the position of First Minister says a lot about the state of the SNP and Scottish politics. But he became involved in a murder investigation in which a relative of his was involved on his behalf. The case is coming to trial in court in some months. So good time to announce a resignation.
