I found the update to this interview earlier today, and just stumbled across this one right now. I just wanted to say how nice it is to run across someone else who doesn’t want to put solar panels all over the roof of the cargo trailer. I get the convenience factor…??? But then you have to park in the sun and use all of that energy you’re producing to cool off the trailer! So much smarter to take the time to park the trailer in the shade and set up the panels in the sun. I don’t understand why more people don’t do it this way. Anyway, just had to say that I really enjoy this trailer build, and the thought this gentleman has put behind it
That was a great idea to cut the slot in the PVC to hold the tarp on for the canopy. I like the way you utilize all your space in your utility trailer it still looks big open and cozy. Simplicity is nice
Great idea with the outside shelves. I also like the First Aid kit being front and center should it be needed. There IS a lot of storage in that puppy!
You said "functional" so many times, it sounded like a drinking game. Functional=man-cave. Definitely no woman's touch at all. Very nice and functional.
I moto-camp as well with a single axle 6x12 v-nose I call my baby toy hauler...lol I have bunk bed cots that pack away when not in use, a lugable loo toilet on 5 gal bucket, installed a legit RV shower pan in the 45°angle of the front v-nose and use a portable shower pump out of another 5 gal bucket. I can heat the water in a black bucket with the sun or use a heating element I run off the cigarette lighter in my truck. I usually take two bikes out, my CRF450 and a little TTR225. A rig this small can get to places a big RV can't and hauling under 3K lbs I get permanent plates here in California 😎👍🏽
I believe you've hit on a great niche on UA-cam. I'm guessing you will have many folks coming to "visit" you to have the opportunity to show off their conversions. As a result, all of us viewers will get to see the many types and ideas of conversions and you will benefit with more viewers & subscribers. I wish you & Deb the best!!
Would be very interested in the vehicles used to tow the cargo conversion campers. Also finished weight of conversions. I plan on converting a 7' x 12' or 7' x 14' (will be single axle) and towing with a 95 Cherokee with 200k+ miles with a max tow capacity of 5k lbs. (also Cherokee is a manual trans)
Yes Jim camped alone at the time he built this trailer. His wife is coming with him to our fall rendevous, he has done several updates.cant wait to see it
White spar in northern Arizona is amazing for bikers and convertible corvettes (just went today) and my hubby rides his bicycle there weekly. He’s kinda crazy
Great job, nothing like camping and boondocking! My nephew has a big Dodge van he has made into a work and live vehicle, I'm sending this on to him for ides.
Awesome. Jim had some great ideas with his Conversion. Since this video he has added more Modifications. We'll probably be doing a video update in the future. If you're a facebooker, search out our closed group page, Tiny House Adventures Family, and request to join. Jim is a member of the group along with many knowledgeable folks with awesome Conversions.
HI BILL & DEB. MORE & MORE CARGO TRAILERS OUT THERE. GOOD VIDEO. AMAZON SELLS PAISLEY FARM & CRAFTS MORINGA AT THE SAME PRICE. PAISLEY FARM & CRAFTS MORINGA IS A HOLE LOT CHEAPER . IT IS A WHOLE SELL COMPANY. BEEN TAKING IT ALL MOST 7 YEARS NOW. GOOD FOR EVERY THING THE BODY NEEDS. NO ACHES & PAIN . DON'T EVER GET SICK.
For a simple looking set up, you have a lot of really great ideals in this build. The racks on the outside, stealing that ideal. I've done a lot with pvc pipes for building frames for various things over the years, so I'm stealing your awning design, and I love the retractable AC unit. May take that one too. lol I love to steal good ideals, and you have several.
Thank you for your videos I do appreciate the information... I always glad you asked the size of the trailers... I'm just wondering how much they spend on the build and the traitor... and how do they ensure it... another words what kind of insurance they carry on it
I have a unique situation with my build. I had a handyman business for several years. I got the trailer as payment for a job I did. I stored the left over materials from jobs and I was able to do about 98% of my build with these materials. My solar system was about $800 and my expenses for the build was less than $300.
@@billanddeb Thank you, I realized after I sent my question that I was watching an old video. Once I subscribed & starting watching your channel I realized y'all are out & about. I'm trying to find people in my area doing this. I'll shoot you an email when I see y'all are back in NW Arkansas. Maybe I can take y'all out to dinner, share my thoughts on a build & get your thoughts on my plan. Enjoy your journey, I hope to be out there soon.
If you're a Facebooker look up our "family" page, "Tiny House Adventures Family". It's a private group, so you will need to request to join. We'll get ya hooked up. Jim is a member of this group, and he recently posted that he has begun work on his shower setup, plus another modification or 2. I want to join! I'm obsessed with my new 6x12 v-nose that I'm converting currently and nobody at work really "gets it" as far as why I love this project. It would be nice to share my project ideas and see what others have done with theirs! 😊

The fold away bed, cook top, TV table and chair are very efficient in a small space. I also like the ceiling vent and the screened door for good cross ventilation and free sunlight during mild weather. This sure beats camping in a tent and sleeping on the ground with all the wild creatures visiting at night. I am amazed that he did not build his camper around a flat screen TV the way so many DIY guys do. This camper would be good for urban stealth camping too.
No issues in most State Parks, National Parks and Corp of Engineer campgrounds. Some KOAs welcome you while others don't. Most privately owned "upscale" campgrounds will turn you away (although in my opinion my looks much nicer than many regular RVs I've seen). We looked into Thousand Trails and they couldn't guarantee we wouldn't be turned away at some. We prefer Corp of Engineer campgrounds anyway and they are plentiful east of the Mississippi. In general, you're not "jammed together" like most privately owned campgrounds. The scenery is much more pleasant to look at and the price is right. With our "senior pass" we get a 50% discount which means we can have water and electric and a nearby dump station for around $11 per night on average after our discount.
@@billanddeb good info thx! should do a video on this subject & include how Van dwellers will fair in this scenario. I plan to have a minivan with instant up coleman 6 man tent as partly a distraction for living in a van (i know many campground dont allow tents, or heavily restrict them - thousand trails is one) . I do plan to do mostly boondocking, but would love to know what my campground options are
This was filmed at Lost Bridge North campground in NW Arkansas. It's one of our favorites. We plan on returning in the spring. We will be hosting a Impromptu Rendezvous May 1st through May 15th there.
What a nice build! Thanks Bill for the tour and Jim we appreciate you opening your home.
Our pleasure!
Thanks for showing us your build, Jim. All these wonderful videos are quite helpful.

Jim is amazing. Always coming up with new ideas
There were more innovative ideas in this setup than I have seen on any trailer build video. Well done Jim. I especially liked the outside shelving.
I love his ideas. Seems like a really nice man. Safe travels and God bless
Jim is pretty awesome
That was a great idea to cut the slot in the PVC to hold the tarp on for the canopy. I like the way you utilize all your space in your utility trailer it still looks big open and cozy. Simplicity is nice
that was my favorite item split PVC for clamp!!!!!!!
Its a great little camper! Lots of cool features to make it comfortable. Good interview. Thank Jim for the tour!
Really enjoying the interviews of other cargo conversions. Lots of great solutions and ideas, thanks for sharing.
Love his trailer build out! Thank you all for sharing!
Great idea with the outside shelves.
I also like the First Aid kit being front and center should it be needed.
There IS a lot of storage in that puppy!
I love these function over form builds. You know these people use trailers a lot.
Hi Bill and Debbie, that was a nice interview. His trailer is simple and cozy, he has everything he needs.
One of the most functional conversions I've seen so far.
I know! He had some great ideas like the screen door, the awning and shelf outside. And of course the Murphy bed!
Plain n simple 👍👍👍
You said "functional" so many times, it sounded like a drinking game. Functional=man-cave. Definitely no woman's touch at all. Very nice and functional.
You will enjoy the heck out of this, 😊.
I have the exact same size trailer I haul my dirtbikes in and have often thought it would make for better camping than my tent. This is a sweet setup
Get busy! 👍😉

Reminder that I have some of those building materials already! Cool!
Thanks again!
Very nice build! He has great ideas!
That shelving system is brilliant. I’m gonna do something very similar.
This guy would be fun to live next door to. Very cool ideas.
Just perfect for 1. Those wire shelves are a great idea!

@@billanddeb Thanks, I'd appreciate that.
100% practical, 0% aesthetic. Yes, a man's man built this without his wife. Great job. It does just what you need it to do.

Where is this campground? We just ordered our cargo trailer. Can’t wait to convert it to our dream living camper!!
Lost Bridge North campground on Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas.
I would love to see the canopy build.
Jim, excellent use of space! Were you an engineer?! Will be using some of your ideas!! Thanks!
That's a lot in a 6x12.
Where in NW Arkansas are you? I would love to visit with you about the cargo van conversion I am planning. I'm in the Fort Smith area.

Anyone know of a place within a few hundred miles of Fayetteville AR that finance cargo trailers. Looking for I asap to avoid signing another lease.
Has anyone found a 5000 BTU 12 volt wall air conditioning unit ??? Thanks in advance...
Bathroom? Did I miss it?

We didn't show my toilet system, but it is stored in the cabinet under the a/c. I made a composting toilet that I use when boondocking.
