I have owned a cpx-1 red dot for three years. It did have a 8 lb. Trigger pull and you got tired after a while. I put a trigger kit($25) and it dropped the pull to 4 lbs. now you can shoot it all day and it did improve my accuracy. A couple of weeks ago I found a deal on a cpx-2. I love both of these pistols. I own more expensive guns but dollar for dollar these SCCY pistols can’t be beat
I bought one of these back in July. The gun itself has been a awesome little gun. The trigger was a little stiff but after installing a Galloway precision 3 pound spring kit I have no complaints. The sight crapped out on me about 400 rounds but a couple of emails later crimson trace had a replacement in the mail if a couple of days. So far the new site has run like a champ.
Thank you for this video. I just bought one and was searching thru videos to find one that actually described the gun good and thorough and found your video. Very informative 👏 👌 👍
Tbh this was my first handgun I’ve shot guns before own a few shotguns an rifles but I absolutely love my cpx-2 it’s my EDC an is very reliable. Only had two kids feeds when I first shot it but after 300+ rounds down range it’s been fine.
Or try to find the newer DVG model that gets rid of the holes on the grip. I couldn't find one so I ended up with this one. I forget what other changes the new model includes.
Do it bought the blue one for my wife’s birthday got home checked it out for a min then proceeded to drive back and buy the black one 😂sits on my side table looking all pretty and shit
I saw my LGS had one of these, used, listed on their website this morning. I'd been thinking about trying an optical sight, but hated to spend the money. The used SCCY was about $100.00 less than a new one, so I figured what the heck. I'll give it a try and see how it works out. I haven't picked it up yet, but will in the next day or two and see how it does.
Got one coming. Same color combo. Never shot a RD so this is an experiment B4 I drop big $$$. Thx, great review. Thx & Best Regards from Phx., Az., Robert
I love mine, and i think you will too. The trigger takes a little time to get use to, but ive ran hundreds of rounds through mine without a single malfunction. The recoil isnt near as bad as i thought it would be.
@hammer STriker, can you do a Tavor 7 and Galil ACE flash light mounting options video? And also maybe a video specifically on the glock striker control device from Tau?
I have a Tavor 7 and some lights from Viridian that I will be testing on it. Unfortunately I do not currently have access to a Galil ACE. I will look into that "thumb safety" device from Tau.
@@HammerStriker you sir are(is?) super awesome! p.s. i had a loose "flap" issue with the striker control device and contacted Tau and they said it works as intended and to apply loctite blue or purple if you want to "tighten" the flap; Unfortunately i applied loctite blue 242 and forgot to move the flap back and forth during the 10min set process and it glued shut my flap against the backplate. Tau also mentioned the "SCD" device has a 31.5 degree range of motion but my gripe is that the roll pin holding together the backplate to the "flap" that allows you to thumb the slide to prevent trigger fire during reholstering is way too loose and just flaps in the wind and doesn't sit flush when the gun is level. Hope this is helpful info!
Mine was so far off and it took us a long time and just barely was able to get it in target with a large amount of adjustment. I don't think there's anyone windage left
What i like about these firearms is i think the Sccy comes with a lifetime warranty or you can get one that follows the product not the owner, i know my Taurus firearms comes with one that follows the product lifetime no Question asked .....
I really appreciate the thorough information you provided on this pistol. Thank you! I did notice @~14:40 it appears the rack is accomplished aided by the optic. Is that the camera angle or?
Bought one back in 2015....sucked then, and it sucks now. The gun literally falls apart the more you shoot it. One time I shot 2 mags and the hammer pin was already 2/3 the way sticking out.
Ive noticed the same. I disagree 100% though. I love mine. It takes a little time to get use to the trigger, but other than that ive ran hundreds of rounds through mine without a single malfunction. Now my wife shot it and limp wristed it and it jammed, but that will happen with a glock.
Can someone tell me what I should do or something. I bought this and have tried several brand new batteries and the red dot never works ... like not once. Can someone suggest a replacement or will the maker give me a replacement. I bought it in july and have only put about 50 rounds through it. But the gun shop basically was like "sorry" it was new. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really like this firearm and want the reflex red dot to work. That ws part if the big selling point on it for me.
SCCY has pretty good customer service. I do know there may be some confusion over whether you call CT or they do on your behalf. This one had an issue and the confusion was settled that SCCY dealt with CT since they bundled it with the gun.
Thank you. We did have a failure of the optic, the glass disintegrated (I think it had been damaged in shipment), they replaced it and it has worked since.
You can only put the red-dot on the specific model that has the slide milled for it. Not sure if that is available as an after-purchase service or not.
@@HammerStriker thanks for the reply. I looked on the website and didn't see anything. I did however check the Sccy FB page and they said they are working on getting the RD slide for sale. I'll keep checking, I think it'd be a nice addition.
I just got mine and after 20-30 rounds the mag fell out followed by the mag release lever/button. Had to send it in for repair...I'm not impressed with the quality. Probably better off spending a few more bucks and getting a Ruger EC9 or Taurus G2C.
Mine did same thing. Sent it back to sccy. They had it back to me in 2 weeks. Runs like a champ now. They replaced magazine release spring. Their customer service is great
I just picked this up and out 50 rounds through it. I wanted to like it but I really strongly disliked the trigger. I get it. It’s DA/Hammer, and it’s pretty heavy. But that reset is horrendous. It’s all the way forward and if you don’t let it go all the way then you have a dead trigger. It’s just not for me.
@@sharifbennett5607 , maybe not necessary. These pistols are a lot like a double action revolver. Long trigger pull and reset, but that’s what is safe about them. The trigger and spring kits help with accuracy and follow up shots. I just heard that Galloway Precision has come out with a new trigger design. With training and practice, anyone can be very proficient and accurate with the SCCYs .
Purchased one for my wife. Is there a filler or something they sell where you can remove the laser site and use it without the site? I removed it to see what it looks like but it doesn’t look right without the site so I figured I’d try to see if it’s possible to not use it.
I don’t think you can attach a red dot to one that doesn’t come from the factory with one without having the slide machined or getting an aftermarket baseplate perhaps.
If you're reading this and thinking about getting one just don't. These guns suck ass. Just save up the extra money and get a gun worth having. Trust me you will thank yourself later
You should be able to remove the screws and it will pop off. If the sticker got folded under it then it may cling a bit. Don't force it, if it won't wiggle off with the screws removed then I would suggest contacting SCCY.
@ hammerstrike how do you take the red dot sight off so you can conceal carry? I just bought a we the people holster and I cant get it in the holster with the optic on it
Uh, you need to purchase a holster designed for this model with the included red dot. amazon has a pretty decent one with retention for under $30 the last time I checked. Tagua also has a nice 4-Way model in leather for not much more. Cheers!
I don't have this gun any longer to absolutely verify but nothing other than the red-dot on the back is different. You may need to notch the top of a holster to make room but the rest should be identical.
These things can't hit the broad side of a barn past 30ft. The springs are way to stiff and failures to feed are comical. I would say these pistols have a 1500 to 2000rd lifespan before they are toasted. I own one with only 20rds threw it total and I will say they are better than nothing but are pretty much junker pistols.

Not without milling the slide, at what would likely be greater cost (and risk) then buying this one with the optic already there.
