I jumped on board with Voltage Modular last year when they gave away Core and Ignite as a COVID gesture.
Since then I've bought quite a few modules, mostly in Offer Bundles.
Sales come around quite often.
I like the Quality of their sounds. No wimpy stuff in there.
Their regular VST retro synth emulations are classy too.
I had tried some of the earlier VST virtual rack synths from the 32bit days. Still have some via jBridger.
Even earlier I had subscribed to AudioMulch and used the first Reaktor standalone back in the 90s.
I have VCV Rack too but it doesn't get nearly as much use as I don't find it so accessible as Voltage Modular.
As for the more expensive virtual modular products, I don't think they bring anything more to the table.
IMO Voltage Modular is the best of today's offerings. Quality sounds and good value for money.
I'm a big fan of Cherry Audio. Whenever I get GAS for eurorack or a vintage synth, I keep it at bay with a mere $30 spend with Cherry Audio :-) Some people grumble about them but it works for me in my noodling, knob twiddling, non-professional context.
Out of all the modular offerings out there (including the free VCV rack), Voltage Modular is the one that inspires me to use it, it draws me in. Works really well as a VST within Reason 11 (and 12) and as said in the video there are some great modules..
It can also host plugins. I have used it more than VCV Rack. I think it is the easier ( though not perfect) module browsing. VCV is a little overwhelming (and hard on the eyes of older synth-nuts!) with hundreds of modules for every function..
Waaaaay ahead of Softube Modular which i also own.
Yeah ive tried the softube modular and thought it sounded horrible. As an audio FX there wasnt a single preset that impressed me. Cherry audio sounds so much better, clearer, more powerful imo. I thought cherry audio overall sounded better then many of the big vsti names out there.
@@invzmk that's funny because i've got a friend who insists the cherry stuff 'sounds digital' and the softube sounds 'analogue'. Of course it's bullshit, he'll come around eventually...but on a practical level the patching environment in cherry is miles ahead, softube have some kahunas charging what they do.
Well worth the small cost with polyphony made easy. Modular for poor people. Also can be used on older slower computers. I downloaded VCV rack twice on two different computers and it did not function. If you have a current powerful computer built for audio, no problem with VCV. Cherry audio is the ONLY software synth I would consider, I am currently 100% hardware studio, but if I decide to go modular, it will have to be software...I am very poor.
If you need to buy more, the devil has a special offer where he's paying double for souls this month. Just sayin'.
Sad that Vaz modular is long forgoten
I own. Very solid. Treacherously deep.
Can I use fx boxes solely for their sound? Like a phaser on a guitar?
A quite different but also powerful yet low CPU modular synth alternative to consider is Hyperion synth - released earlier this year at Tracktion. I can arrange a viewer discount code and a few give-away copies if Sonicstate wants to do a review. Check out the review by Robin at Molten Music Technology youtube channel for an idea.
What's wrong about Redrum?
Is this currently the best modular rack vst?
yes
Typo in title?
Thanks!
Windows, Mac or Linux????????
WIndows and Mac are supported.
Linux support would be great
If I own a cherry audio software synth do I automatically own the module?
I just checked this before buying and no, the module version and the full fledge plugin are dfferent but there are bundles. Try reaching out to them, they might be willing to give a discount if you already own the synth version.
We do a 20% discount for Voltage MS Vintage Collection / PS-20 virtual instrument (if you own one, you'll automatically get the discount in your cart), and the same with the Voltage Synthesizer Expander Module bundle / Eight Voice virtual instrument.
@@celebutante that's good to know thanks. I'll take a look.
I couldn't get past the sticky mouth noises of tye commentary. :)
Do not like the sound of it.
