These first two are probably the BEST explanations of the basics of synthesis I have seen. And most entertaining! I'm just having a big problem graspling the signal flow and the how and why to plug this into that and that into the other thing.
you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last days :)
i watched the first video months ago and it all sounded like gibberish. After toying around with plug ins, i watched again yesterday and video one made sense. I just watched this, video 2, and my mind is blown. I learned more in the last hour, following along step by step, than I thought I could ever dream to learn! Now I have made two cool presets from scratch! look forward to videos covering sequencers and how to make your synth poly. Thank you for making all of this understandable, and FUN!
This video shows how powerful sounds can be created in Voltage Modular with just a few modules Future guides could be on more use of the CV modules like the Attenuverter, the Boolean logic modules or the clock divider. The flexibility of routing control and audio to create new sounds is the great ability of modular synth.
When I stick to the basic modules, I'm fine, but when I try to hook up one of the vaguely-purposed, weird modules ("Boolean Pancreas Remover", etc), everything grinds to a halt.
I have seen many tutorials last few weeks but this one is by far the most well explained one, and it is not as boring as all the previous one. great approach with a good sense of humor. thanks for this
Great video! Awesome for someone who knows nothing :) I would love to see more videos talking about terminology and explaining all the other knobs on these modules! Thanks :)
You guys rock! I bought Voltage Modular Core, DCO and CA2600 this month and aside of being awesome instruments I need to say that I'm leardning a lot with the videos!
This guide should be definitely continued! Modular synthesizers are more complicated especially for those who are not very experienced in sound synthesis. Could you show us how to make a supersaw trance sound like in Roland JP-8000?
thanks for the video! would love to see some intermediate - advanced ones as well in the future. Things like cool uses for quantizer, analog shift or boolean still confuse me.
hey hey ! @ 16:50 you add a stereo delay... I only see a delay option, the stereo delay available is a black and purple color and costs $15. Can't see the stock version.
Hey there! Stereo delay is not included with the free Nucleus edition. However it is available separately. The UI has also been updated as part of the new 2.0 update - the modules seen here are in the older 1.0 version
Hey there! Polyphony would require polyphonic modules as mono CV jacks can't have more than one signal at a time. So, you would need to upgrade to one of the editions of Voltage Modular that has poly modules, or purchase some third party modules that support polyphony. Do keep in mind as well that you would need polyphonic modules for each step of the chain that you'd want to be polyphonic (ie: envelopes, amplifiers, filters, etc).
Would you please share the name of the Oscilloscope app that you use in the tutorials? I'd like to be able to view wave forms like the presenter. Thank you!
It's a free plugin called Signal Analyzer and can be downloaded from here: www.rs-met.com/freebies.html It's definitely my favorite oscilloscope out of all the plugins I've tried.
Aside from CPU power, are there any limitation to the number of like modules you can have in a sound? Like, 8 or 12 LFO's. Can you have several sequencers to use as note triggers and/or modulation sources? Can they run at different tempi?
There are no limits! You can add as many modules as your system can handle. The only real restriction is your imagination and/or how much time you want to spend dialing in a patch!
I have this too and i want to ask you why some times caw when you play this i hear it by my Daw and i was thinking it was some kind of processor issue .The processor is on 45% so its good !!But it is cracking sometimes and i hear this now on yoyr review too !!Some solution ?? And BTW very very good synth !!
Hey there! If you need some assistance with performance, feel free to contact our support at cherryaudio.kayako.com and we'd be glad to look into it for you and see if we can help!
im totally in love with this system eventho im more of a hardware guy. it sounds really beautiful and its very easy to handle. i have just one issue; im not able to adjust the first 2 sliders of the sequencer to c1 and c2. i double cklick them and write it and it doesnt work. doesnt have a problem with the others, just with the first 2 for a boring ass sequence....any advice??!!
Hey there! For the sequencer the minimum value is set as C2 which you should be able to set by just moving the sliders to the bottom. For lower octaves, you can change the footage setting of the oscillator or use something to change the CV value to a lower octave. If you need help with that though or find that you cannot reset the sequencer back to C2 as the minimum value, feel free to get in touch with our support at cherryaudio.kayako.com and we'd be glad to assist you!
@@CherryAudiovst i discovered the whole thing on venus theory channel and i saw he did it. so he didn't explain that. im gonna try the step you metion above. sould nned more help, im gonna contact the support. thank you. again: amazing work you guys are doing here. im a huge fan.
Hey there! If you can send us the details as to which preset(s) are affected by this to our support at cherryaudio.kayako.com we'd be glad to check into that!
Hey there! We actually offer the standard 'compressor' module as part of Voltage Modular Ignite and Voltage Modular Core - it isn't included with the Nucleus edition. However, you can always upgrade to Ignite or Core to use it or even use the VST host module to load your favorite third party compressor VST right inside Voltage!
Hey there! As with most synths, you really get out what you put into it. If you take the time to put together a modular patch that takes advantage of different modules in different ways you can certainly do things that aren't possible with more conventional synthesizers. That's the power of modular!
I have the most trouble coming up with non-generic (yet fitting) patch/preset names. Every name I come up with is corny, plain, and doesn't even properly describe the sonic texture of the audio signal lol.
Another great video Christian. Only problem I have with it is you sound just like a former dipshat boss of mine. Looking forward to the next one, but I may patch in a pitch shift on your voice. ;-)
Well, at least Voltage Modular seems a great way to forget about all the new Behringer modules everybody wants to buy! They are all unavailable due to the covid virus, or they have modules but no powered racks to fit them in, some problem or another! Guitar Center is a joke right now! All the shelves and warehouses are empty! Making some cool usable sounds right away, with the little bit i have learned about Voltage Modular. I downloaded the VCV rack , and never got anywhere with it...

Cherry Audio: how much meme energy do we want in these tutorials?
also Cherry Audio: YES
Totally love this guy
me too

Huge thumbs-up for the presenter; humor is a fantastic tool when it comes to learning from scratch. Thank you!!!
fantastic. this two part vids took me into checking that cableing stuff for the first time. thx!
thats was awesome please more videos
More soon!

Awesome! Sounds like you're got quite the setup to start really digging in to synthesis!
I had been struggling to figure out how to make Velocity scale the Filter Envelope amount -- until this video, that is! Perfect, thank you!
Beautiful!
Already waiting for the next one!

We're currently in the process of making some more tutorial videos. We can certainly note that down on the ideas list!
Awesome tut, best voice over EVER! Nice one mate :)
Glad you enjoyed the video!

Excellent and love the comedy
Great video. Really opens up the software :)Looking forward to more...
Thank you for your clear explanations. Really helpful. And also funny :)
Love the video, love the modular, love you ❤️! Big love from Germany

Awesome way to explain stuff, thx a lot!
Very helpfull tutorial, thank you.

awesome more please
is there a way to make the synth work with multi notes/voices for free without paying for anything

we need a drums tut using the sequencer .. and more voltage core tuts as it seems most of us have just that thanx.
