Thank you, this has been so helpful. I got a 77 a week or so ago and there are so many more setting than on my last dslr. I feel like I have a better idea of how I can alter my video settings now. Cheers! ❤
Hi Lee, on av mode on video, how do you know what aperture setting you are on as the info button does not display the aperture on 77d. Is there any other settings that should be enabled?
thanks so much. I'm a complete newbie to the camera world as most of my filming is done using Camtasia and voiceover on the screen of my PC. I'm now filming on person footage and your video helped so much thanks!
Hi, Thanks for the tips! Really appreciated. Is there a way to always keep focus on? I mean in video when i am recording fast movements, i dont want camera to take 1,2 seconds trying to focus. I rather have focus on if that makes sense? I am a newbie
Any lens you might recommend. I usually shoot car shows so dont need a lot of zoom but would like a wider lens for better lighting. Let me know what your thoughts are on a budget lens to pick up.
I have a really urgent question! Why does the camera only show 29:59 minutes when I want to record sth.? I want to shoot a longer video, min. 1 hour. How can I achieve that?
In most countries, the definition of a Video Camera is "Records video for 30 minutes or more continuously". Video cameras have a higher Import Duty than a Photography camera. So, to avoid a higher Import Duty, the manufacturers go for 29:59 as a maximum limit of continuous recording. Remember, you could always stop and restart for another 29:59 minutes of recording.
Dear Lee, have you got any experience with the 77D and the Crane 2. I cannot seem to get it to work with the Gimbal. The Cable connection won't let me record and all the buttons on the camera become unusable.

Hi !!! Hope you can answer my question. Whenever I change the mode from pictures to recording mode in my Canon 77D it kinda crops the image. So for instanse if I have a 18-55 mm lens and I want to record myself it has a really really annoying closeup to my face and when I do the same with the picture mode, well it does not crop anything. I have tried to change plenty of the filming settings a friend tried to help me as well and we both failed. Is this normal and I am wasting my time trying to change a setting?? or indeed I can do something about it?? or is it the lens?? I am very confused hope you can help me out! Thanks in advance!
Either will be good really, the zoom lens will be more versatile and the prime will perform better in low light and give better bokeh. it depends what you are going to be shooting, if 50mm is enough then go with that if not go with the zoom lens and get the prime in the future.
I have a Canon 1200d. I struggle with it in low light as it just cant focus and noise is too much. (I do only photos) What is the difference between 1200d and 77d? Why should I upgrade? Sorry for an amateur question but I would be grateful if you can answer that.
theres a few difference that make this better than a rebel, if anything this camera is an 80d with the features cut down and as a result the price as well

image stabalising will cause cropping, the camera has to create room around the edges to keep the image from moving around.
It is because of the Image Stabilization setting. But if you want to film yourself (selfie mode) then use a 10-18mm lens.
Sir what should we do for fast lapse
sir, which lens are better for cinematography 18-135 or 50mm prime?

+Abhit Sinha if you are shooting a lot of low light images you'd be better with a full frame camera as the larger sensor handles high ISO much better.
Lee Thompson Thanks. But I cant afford it right now. But id 77d will not help a lot then may be I will wait.
+Abhit Sinha you'll not see a huge difference between the 77d and 1200d. You'd be better off waiting.
Thanks
Why I don't have that 30, 3.5 and AUTO in the bottom of the screen?
Double check you are in manual mode, if it still is not showing press the info button as this will toggle through the on screen display option.
How do you set ISO to 100 ....cause my ISO. Show the lowest is 200 ?
Wow.. great tutorial.. thanks for Sharing..
Number one you are the best
Thank you - this was helpful!

Tory Hardjopawiro bus lover, don't think so. Try Northern Irish. I'm Scottish by the way.
