- small clip from Go for a take, in which Tiger finds Reg Varney from On the buses fame sleeping on the set of the Double Deckers. Tiger is older in this clip and this fact is probably why the rest of the gang are not in the film as they would have appeared too old, I believe its the only other footage that contains the actual bus. Harry booth who was the Director of the Double Deckers and this film clearly made reference to the kids show, Melvyn Hayes is also in the cast and so are many other faces from the Double deckers episodes, you can catch the full film on you tube elsewhere.
Who else finds this sadly poignant. Although Tiger refers to the Double Deckers in the present tense, by 1972 it was all over, and it is almost as if she's the ghost of what was, and the sole member of the team left behind. 50 years, geesh! One year later, in 1973, my family and I (and as a 7-year old when this series ran, will admit had a bit of a boy crush on Tiger at the time too) emigrated to Australia, and this passed into memory. I don't ever remember seeing it syndicated here, which was odd as we had just about every other children's program from the UK and the US screened on Aussie tv. The show was cut way too soon...!
superb kids program , could never be remade, my grandkids love it and Doughnut is always their favourite
Probably the reason they brought back only Tiger was because she was the only cast member who was still a child when this film was made. You can see she was older than she was in the show.
They were so much older in showbusiness them day's.
In On The Buses you wouldn't have believed that Stan was older than Blakey. Stan was in his fifties whereas Blakey was only in his mid thirties when it started. The old fella in Steptoe was only 49 when he started.
I bet Stan feels right at home with the bus and talking to someone called Jack

I only found out about "The Double Deckers" this very day (21 December 2020), but having seen this and the opening intro, it looks delightful.
fantastic can pick it up on dvd, quality not up to todays standard but my Grandkids love it

i can remember this film but could not remember the title. thanks for that. it's hard to imagine reg varney in anything without a bus in it mabye the double deckers bus was sneaked in to make him feel at home.

how about putting this series back on you tube it`s the only way to see it here in the u.s it was never put on dvd here and the only dvds i see on e-bay are all region 2 which we cant play over here
