Hi Carol! So happy to see your name pop up in the comments! Thank you so much for your kind words! Hope to bump into you soon! You're always such a joy to see!
That was an awesome video!! Dirt and rocks are very expensive!! As always, you all killed it!! I hope yall have a blessed day and enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh goodness, it'll be great! Garlic is so easy to plant, grow, and harvest! It's my favorite thing to grow because it's so low maintenance! Well, and its also delicious!
Thanks so much, Charley! 105 is TOO HOT! Oh my goodness we wouldn't be able to work outside in that heat! Hopefully you're staying cool and hydrated down in Yuma!
Fantastic video...I never realized you guys had planted that many potatoes, what a great harvest. Fall is such a busy time of year trying to get everything done before the snow flies. Your new banner looks great btw.
Thank you so much! Yes we always plant a bunch, but this year we didnt get as much as we usually do... still not bad considering we only mounded them once. 😆 Hope you guys are able to get all of your fall chores done! And thank you! I'm surprised you noticed the new banner! 🥰
The wife and I say it every year about how the winter always sneaks up on us.. Happens with hunting season too, it'll be August, then next thing ya know, Oct 1 hits and it's opening day of bow season, gets me every year.. Supposed to be mid-upper 20's here tonite. Way to get final stuff done before winter sets in. Mike
Yes! Why does winter have this way of sneaking up on us all? Brr... that's super cold for this time of year. Next week, that will be us, too. Every night in the 20's.. NOT ready for it! I hope you guys were/are able to get all of your winter prep done!
@@TheLiFeInPines For sure! I've got a few things left to do still, but starting this Thurs, I'm off for 3 1/2 weeks. So I'll finish up what needs to be finished, then be in the woods hunting for the rest of my time off!! Can't wait!!
Another great video! Only Jenna & Teddy can make chores fun😊! Great garden haul for a neglected garden! I think the slab came out great & I think you will have grass if you keep it watered. My husband grew grass like a golf course & one of his secrets was adding top soil lightly over grown grass ( you would think it would kill it but it came in thicker and healthier). He was an avid golfer so he would ask the greens keepers their secrets😊. Jenna the videos are getting better & better keep up the great editing & videography!❤🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Awe! Thank you, Laura! Yes we cant complain about what we got considering we barely saw our garden this summer! It has been drizzling on and off since we planted the grass so we're super hopeful that it'll start growing! Thats so good to know about the topsoil! We will definitely do that! We have A LOT of lawn that we'd like to get healthier and fuller so this will be a huge help! Thank you for the tip! Thank you so much for the compliment on the videos, too! We're both trying to get better, learn more and try new things with both filming and editing! ☺️Have a blessed week!!!
we got our garlic planted going , we harvested 600 pounds of Yukon gold potatoes yikes we can't eat that much so we donated a bunch to food banks, and left some in the ground to seed next year, your vids are awesome and the editing is getting better, the Barnhouse project will start for us in spring, living in a 5th wheel for now is not too bad, the cabin is not ready to move in or use yet as we are doing work inside and fixing several issues, love the vid, god bless
That’s amazing! We love Yukon golds, Yukon white, baby reds… who am I kidding. We’ve never met a potato we didn’t like! So great you were able to donate, too! Spring will be here before we know it and your project can begin! Thanks for the kind comment! Blessings!
Another great video. Steve meant to say that the water beads up, not needs up. I think Clifford thought you were doing the digging and moving dirt just for him. We are in Branson with some of our church family to watch Esther at Sight and Sound theater. It is another beautiful day here. Look forward to the next video.
Thank you, Jill! And no worries, I was following what Steve said! Clifford absolutely thought we were playing in the dirt just for him! He makes all our chores a little more fun! Next time we are in Branson, we will definitely have to go to the sight and sound theater! Ive heard it's amazing! I'm glad you're getting some nice weather! Its been cold, dreary and rainy for the past several days here.. Thankfully all the birch and poplar leaves and tamarack needles are POPPING bright yellow to help brighten even the gloomiest of days! Good morning my favorite family in the Pines! I enjoyed this video very much. It was humorous as always which I love, showed your loving family working together and included the montage of expertly assembling this video. Jenna you always to such a nice job of editing the video. Ted was his hilarious self and I enjoy how you both feed off of one anothers humor. You accomplished a lot in this vid and it all turned out nicely. I love "dropping in" like a good pine cone 🌲 Have a great week ahead. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Good Morning, Larry! Ted and I are so glad you enjoyed this episode! Thank you for your kind words about filming and editing! We have been so busy this fall and it feels so good to be able to check tasks off our never ending to do list! Thanks for dropping in! Have a blessed week!
Oh my goodness Clifford is adorable! He's gotta be in there helping. Thanks for the video, it was wonderful. Hope your grass grows, if not, try again very early spring.
Hes always in the middle of us helping (or hindering) but we don't mind because he's so darn cute! Ted and I are glad you enjoyed this weeks episode! We also hope the grass grows! It's been cold and rainy, but we're still hopeful!
Great video guys, happy to see you finally spend sometime at home catching up on projects. Fall has always been my favorite time of year especially with all the colors. Tell Ted he makes a fantastic supervisor and as far as the tarp l learned happy wife happy life. Just wondering how the bees did this year and when is the best time to prepare them for winter. I also learned that grass is hard to grow not just because of being shady but pine needles are extremely acidic and hinder the growth of grass, if you plant clover it helps because the clover adds nitrogen to the soil and breaks down the acid in the soil. Have an awesome weekend and a great week to all of you.
Thank you, Joe! Yes it feels like we haven’t been to the project house in forever but this stuff at home had to be done asap! I think this is the first time I’ve truly enjoyed fall. The weather has been pretty nice! (Last year it snowed on Oct 7th!) Haha happy wife happy life! Yes! He’s not too proud to admit when I’m right, either. Bees did good! We got 6.5 gallons of DARK honey! (Stay tuned for honey harvest!) Ted is wintering them differently this year and I’m sure we’ll do a video on it! He’s already begun winter preparation for them. Yes grass is hard to grow here bc of the acidic soil from the pine needles! We sweep them up every year to help, and we just got some lime to put down to help with the PH. Interesting about the clover! I think someone also suggested blueberries! We have tons of wild ones on our property, but I think we’ll pick up some clover seed as well! Thanks for the tip! Have a great weekend!
Loved watching y’all get ready for winter! Makes me excited for the season in my family’s life when we’ll be able to do that as well! Currently living in the middle of Oklahoma we don’t really have to worry about stuff like that and can pretty much do outdoor projects all year round…just not the gardening stuff. Another great video y’all!!!
Hey and thanks so much! Something great to look forward to! It's a lot of work, but there's nothing better than being outside, getting stuff done and being surrounded by beautiful scenery! Doing projects year round sounds nice! Especially if you can do it without freezing! 🥶
It can be nice, but when summer hits and it’s 108 degrees outside it’s miserable and then you can’t do anything so…😢😂🥵 but when we move up north we won’t have that problem anymore thankfully!!!💙❄️💙
I am sure arguing with Jenna is a futile effort. 😂 I love your homestead mini truck. Looks like a decent haul of potatoes. How are the bees doing? Have you put them up for the winter yet? Cool old tractor going strong. I am hoping to find a homestead for my retirement. I hope it is at least half as awesome as yours. Love and blessing y'all. Have a great week.
Ted is a smart man. 🤣 And yes we LOVE the mini truck! It has been absolutely perfect for us and all of our outside tasks. We cannot rave about it enough! And yay for garden potatoes! The bees are GREAT! We harvested our honey and we will bring you along in one of our upcoming episodes! Ted will also be preparing them for the long, cold winter! I hope you find your homestead! They are a lot of work, but it's usually "fun" work!
@@TheLiFeInPines I am looking forward to the video. Indeed a homestead is hard and fun work that is productive and rewarding. It’s definitely not for everyone. I grew up helping my grandma with her homestead. My mother, aunts and uncles were born and raised on a farm. Sadly the farm was sold when my great grandmother died. It had been in our family since the 1700s.
I’m sorry to hear that your family homestead was sold, but you’ll have the skills you learned and the memories you made forever. I hope you enjoyed the episode with the honey harvesting! God bless!
Us too! Lol I'm not ready for snow either, but the kids are begging for winter and snow so they can get up to the ridge! I keep telling them to quit rushing it! 😆
well one issue I see for growing grass is all the pine needles and I will tell you because pine needles leach acid and great onions and some other plants but not for growing grass
The pine needles are definitely a problem for grass growing here! We keep the needles raked where we want to have “lawn” and that helps! For this new grass, we did spread lime down to help regulate the ph of the soil. The grass was just starting to germinate and then we got snow! lol. Next year is our year for grass! 🤣
Hay, dere! Nice video, I just wanted to make sure you used "straw" over the grass seed and not "hay?" I'm not an expert, but it looked like straw to me, and that's what you want for that purpose. Most people use the words "straw" and "hay" interchangeably, but there's a huge difference. Cheers!
Hi! It was probably a mixture of both. Are you referring to the "weeds" that are present in hay? If so, we are ok with having weedy grass. We welcome dandelions and other flowering weeds as nectar sources for our honeybees! If I'm missing something with the straw vs. hay, please let me know! Thanks so much!
