You know, I only became aware of Smosh post-Anthony, but from what I've heard and what little I've seen, (including an interview he did on a podcast,) he seems kind of like a pretentious dousche-nozzle.
I cannot remember the podcast, but I will try and find it for anyone who needs it.

A lot of it is also the never ending comments of “old smosh was better” and “I liked it better when Anthony was here”. It’s tongue in cheek
They aren’t talking about content, they are talking finances. It seems recently there’s been a lot of restructuring and very low profits and overall it seems as though smosh might be in a bit of a death spiral, no matter how good the content itself is

But instead of going back to the docks for repairs, maybe even a full redesign, they keep acting like nothing they're doing or have done is causing the boat to take unnecessary damage to the hull. Eventually, that's going to permanently end things, even if they occasionally have people come in, and minorly patch things up or pale the water out, there's just not enough hands on deck, not enough effort being put in to fix the ship or replace it outright. And worse yet, the captain bailed, taking the mast and sails with him, and despite the old crew asking, pleading for his return, hell going to go look for him, none return, and the ones that stay are ignored, so they bail ship. The new captain doesn't care, and frankly that's the reason Smosh hasn't been making money lately, why they're sinking.

This was legendary to watch live. Whenever Ian's actual mom was in a sketch, it was hilarious and I loved it. Such a sweet lady. Amanda did a really good imitation of her.
Ian truly feels a bit like a father figure to all of them. he certainly looks at them with that kind of care, like he nurtured them and truly cares about them doing well and succeeding. its kinda endearing.
he deserves major props for the creativity and originality that he and Anthony brought to this platform since day 1, and for how much it grew in his care. in a way, smosh IS his baby. to Ian🥂
