Many UA-camrs come with different targets, UA-cam views, nature, wildlife, foods, get scammed and show that only poor countries have scammers, but you , you guys are the best, I love your videos and good luck, Olivier has much knowledge about Sri Lanka ❤
I lived in Colombo for two years and didn't see a single thing you guys saw lol. I'm learning about my motherland from a french man 😆 you three are beautiful people! Much love❤
Luke, as a Sri Lankan, I hadn’t even heard of those places. I can’t thank you enough for showing Sri Lanka to a Sri Lankan! (I’ve been living in the USA for the past 25 years.)
I spent the summer of 1981 in Sria Lanka 🇱🇰 & Loved it. The family who hosted me I'm still in touch with 43 years later. While the mom and dad passed years ago, the siblings are still alive and live in the states
That's amazing. In fact, although,I have been in England for 50 years now,my first time back in Sri Lanka was in 1981. If there was no immigration rules,I would have stayed in Sri Lanka because I loved it so much.
I used to love to get a morning cup of tea and go tonthe top of the house there was a veranda and th tops of trees. The little monkeys 🐒 would show off for me.
@@kennyx8482 hah after Sri Lanka i lived in NZ for 6 months 1983. Came back to the US and met and married my best friend. We're married now 37 years. Been to NZ about 5 times now. Time for me to visit S.E.A now
I'm Sri Lankan, but I never knew we had such a unique museum in the middle of the city. I was so impressed to see that meeting room with some big names. I will definitely visit the place next time. Thank you for showcasing these lesser-known areas of Sri Lanka.
I've been here since 2017.... Been to Colombo a dozen times but never explored it the way you did. Very nice informative video. I had no idea so many wonderful things are there... 👍
Words fail me in thanking you both! This video version was an absolute shocker? Born & bred in Colombo now living overseas, have never ever seen or experienced this side of our capital city! Next visit will definitely visit especially the coffee shop, the Kovil and the market! Thank you Luke & Nayomi! Your guide (sorry missed his name) is so knowledgeable with the history of Colombo, our culture as well as our native language Sinhala and also Tamil! Big Thank you to him for all what he does to show off our paradise! 🙏🏼🌹Ayubowewa!
As Sri Lankans, actually, we either didn't know some of the valuable information.... What an amazing video... Welcome to Sri Lanka... and thank you for sharing this information with the whole world. ❤❤❤ 🇱🇰
Welcome back to Sri lanka...the two mad explorers...thanks for taking your valuable time to promote Sri lanka..both of you are a lovely couple...enjoy your stay ❤
Naomi's sense of humour and Luke's laughter made me grin throughout watching the video. Did you say you are smelling like cakes? That was like icing on the cake for me. I followed you both , drooling.
Your friend is more Sri Lankan than any of the Sri Lankans who were born here. Also love how you guys show these places in a different perspective than the typical tourist point of view. ❤❤
I was born in Sri Lanka and grown up in Denmark, I have been visiting Sri Lanka many times, but I never seen these places, well next time I will definitely go there, French tour guide is very useful and very kind and helpful ❤❤
Olivier! My bro knows more about Colombo than me a, Sri Lankan! I want him to give me a tour around Colombo, He is Sri Lanka in a past life I am pretty sure. Love everyone you met in this vlog! The cinnamon guy is elite too. Thank you Naomi and Luke!
Actually Cassia is sold as 'Cinnamon' around the world. But you will think the cassia taste and smell are awful if you can compare with true cinnamon which is Ceylon cinnamon (only from Sri Lanka) Importantly there is a naturally occuring chemical in cassia and cinnamon which is coumarin. It can cause liver damage in sensitive people if consumed in higher amounts. That chemical occurs in very small amounts in ceylon cinnamon and it is safer while it occurs higher in cassia. Cassia cinnamon contains up to 1% coumarin, whereas true cinnamon contains only a trace, about 0.004%. Also, coffee was a main export good before it was destroyed from a disease during colonial era. Thereafter british replaced coffee by tea in hill country.
I really enjoyed about the episode, I love French 🇫🇷man he is so laidback and he localised. It doesn’t mean not like you two, you too lovely couple too.❤really can see about the the Colombo . 🇬🇧
Believe me, I’ve been living in Colombo for over four decades, and this is the first time I’ve seen some of the places you showcased in this video. Olivier is truly a legend! Amazing content, as always.

Fantastic video, I’m amazed. It’s an eye opener for me who was born there, then left for economic reasons. Colombo is truly a trading hot spot. Love SL but I’m now trapped overseas and difficult to go back . Really miss the vibe there , may God bless. SL.😊😊😊
Literacy in Sri Lanka exceeds 93%. This is the highest status in Asia, every child is given free education for 13 years at the expense of the government. Mother tongue Sinhala along with Tamil and English are taught from childhood. This is the secret
Olivier's enthusiasm & knowledge of SL is to be admired. But I believe it was the Portuguese who first brought African slaves to Sri Lanka, though the Dutch continued the practice. Most of the slaves were believed to have been brought from the Portuguese colony of Mozambique & a few of their descendants are still able to speak a form of Portuguese creole.
Oliver is amazing. He might like to know that all Sri Lankan kids know a story about a frenchman called "Andare" a corruption of Andre. So Oliver will be the new Andre!
@kosalamunasinghe6714 it is situated opposite the St. Anthony's catholic church in Kochikade , Kotehena, Colombo 15 I think. First built by Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam or his father in 1857 and later completed by him, the entire temple is carved out of pure granite according ancient Dravidian and south Indian architecture as was 2500 years ago, without modern building methods. I think it is the only temple in whole of Sri Lanka carved out of pure granite, with exquisite carvings in stone.
The bark of the cinnamon shrubs that grow wildly in Sri Lanka is more thinner, crispier and sweeter. When dried it is fragile and breaks easily. It is light orange/tan in color than what is sold in the US and the Western countries as cinnamon which is brown with a thick hard bark. “Cinnamon”sticks sold in Western countries are really not cinnamon but a substitute called cassia Although Sri Lankan cinnamon is sweet, consuming it reduces blood glucose levels and is recommended to be used by diabetics.
I am Sri lankan, This french gentelmen has very good and correct in detail about colombo history and culture.hats of to him !!🙌
I was told that Pettah name came from the British & Not a tamil word. French guy is wrong there.
