What I would have liked to have seen there was the full mile race.
I'm guessing at half a mile the Bugatti would have caught up again and eventually passed the Rimac Nevera again after a mile at over 250mph. What are the exact 1 mile times of the two?
In addition, the 8.72 sec. of the Rimac Nevera at the 1/4 mile not really the fastest.

@@CanisoGaming There is a reason that the tesla costs a tenth of the nevera. Aside from the obv. economies of scale that tesla has compared to rimac. But also the fact that at that speed the power required to get the car to
go faster is exponential. Meaning that in order to beat the tesla the way the rimac did requires waay more effort. Also lets not forget that the Rimac looks better and significantly outperfoms the tesla in every single measureable way other than luggage space. I will give you that 2 mil is a huge price difference, but for a small company to come out with a car like rimac has is super impressive!
@@jacobstaub6676 the reason Tesla costs less is because they aimed for the normal demographic with their products, not for hypercar clients. Just the simple fact that they're aiming for different markets is enough to not compare them in any way, the nevera could be compared to the new roadster but that one is still not around so can't compare at all for now, but if Tesla does come out with a roadster as good as advertised it will for sure dethrone the nevera in multiple metrics including the range I believe, and all that at a price of 200k in comparison that will be quite huge, but again we can't be sure az its still not produced & tested enough

So I understand why they the plaid, not because the comparison is particularly apt but because people know the plaid as a common benchmark. For the hard work Mat and his Team out into those videos and rebuilding cars, they deserve every single penny and success that sre coming their way.
I did the math, up until the final raffle, they mentioned exactly how many tickets were sold for eaxh category. They have sold a total of *6,435 tickets* (1,999+1,087+1,299+348
+1,134+568). That's alone, at £9.99 a ticket, it's £ 64,285.65. With that, they have already made profit out of the M5.
Then when you add the number of tickets sold out of the 60,000 available (which they didn't specify how many were sold 😉, smart), even if they only sold half of it (25,000 tickets), the total takes them well over £300K with a great profit.
Now, that's what I call smart thinking, Good Business.

Not really impressive, since there only were 3 cars. That’s like saying it’s really impressive for a human runner to rank #3 against two fighter jets in a race down the runway.

The number of cylinders are there so the engine is smooth. And nobody wants a 3-5mil car with a V8 in it. The 4 turbos are there to reduce lag. Its 1900hp vs 1500hp. Guess who wins
Well remember the rimac nevera is all electric so that’s instant tourque and has 1900 hp so it is a lot quicker but not faster Chiron super sport which has 1600 hp but it is definitely quicker

There’s no question that the Rimac is badass, but I hate electric vehicles. I’m all for internal combustion engines. The sounds and the smells and the feedback you get from the engine can’t be beat in my eyes

Koenigsegg 100% needs to be added into the fleet Christian Von Koenigsegg checks off every box that you guys have. I imagine you have looked into it but an allocation for a Gemera would be insane. You guys seem to be going for a more modern standpoint for recent purchases so even a Jesko, but if you want a more bespoke version like your Huayra then you could go with a full carbon Agera RS. I imagine I can’t be the only one that wants to see an Egg or two on the channel 🙌🏻🙏🏻

@@joshuad1716 go take a look at JWW it may be bias because he now apart of koenigsegg but if you watch some of their videos or like 21sled said above take a moment to go watch actual owners that drive their koenigseggs for the most part they are incredible machines a perfect example would even been randy savage and his CCX he did so much to that car and it was an absolute tank. Proof is in the pudding.

Great races! On the HUD you can see the Rimac doesn't put down the full 1,300kw of power until 115mph. It seems like both cars are putting out the maximum torque the tires can take without spinning until about 70mph, at which point the Tesla reaches its peak horsepower and torque starts to taper off as RPM continues to increase. The Rimac has much more in reserve so it maintains maximum torque until it reaches 115-120mph, at which point power peaks and torque begins to drop off. Fascinating stuff. I've experienced a model 3 performance accelerating and it felt like a roller coaster. I can't imagine how these feel.
Interesting point on the Koenigsegg Regera (DragTimes at Goodwood) where the torque converter doesn't lock up until 250 km/h! (and it really puts the power down between 300-400Km/h!)
The Plaid feels like you're being sucked into another dimension. The crazy part is it pulls just as hard at 70mph.
It doesn't pull 1300 kw because of wheelspin buddy tires would be overwhelmed

I've always questioned how a "production" car was defined. To me, at least 20k made should be a production car. Maybe 10k- 20k made be defined as limited production. And 0- 10k made be defined as another word.
Producing 500 or less isn't a production car to me. Hell, producing 1000 or less isn't either.
@@ronin7645they can make 10k or even 100k of them. They're not that special, its a basic electric motor at the end of the day. They're only limited because not everyone can afford them.
@AlkaVirus Well, it still takes a lot of R&D to produce that motor and car. I wouldn't call it simple at all. Tesla's Plaid motor can spin above 20k rpms. That takes some serious engineering to accomplish with their drive trains. Either way, whether a few people can afford the car or not shouldn't be defined within the "production" rhetoric. It's numbers. In my opinion, producing 500 cars shouldn't be listed as a production car. To me, production has always been defined as a mass market vehicle. Not sure when that all changed but making 500 of anything doesn't fall within the "masses" definition.
@@ronin7645 R&D has nothing to do with supply chain and production. An electric motor is a joke to make compared to a W16 quad turbo engine. Thats why the only reason a rimac nevera is limited is because it is expensive and the target market isn't as big. The technologies used in it can easily be replicated in cheaper mass produced electric cars in the future.
The electric motors in those cars are probably more complex overall than piston engines because of all the electronics in them. Watch a video of a tesla motor teardown and there's literally a computer in there. The motors in these cars are simple in the way they operate, but they're still very complex electrical systems.
Basically it'd be the same way that calling the bugatti's W16 "just a basic internal combustion engine". Just because it operates on the same principle as a 1 cylinder lawn mower doesn't mean it's "basic". The same is true for different types of electric motors.

@@aaronmiller5012 More than that, Mate already showed electric motor that will be in the next Bugatti and it makes 400hp (really light) and bunch of them will be combined with V8 that probably makes some absurd amount of power probably from 1200hp to maby even 1800hp like Venom f5. I expect around 2500hp to 2800hp overall or other case would be closer to 2000hp but with really light chassis in comparison (1600kg for example)...
Still, 120k 5 seater Plaid is doing this, imagine 350k proper 2 door sports car from Tesla, Considering that they took 6 years of additional engineering for the Roadster (and that Model S already achieved Roadster numbers), I'm pretty sure that we have plenty of interesting races ahead 🏁

The 8.25 1/4 in the Rimac was not done on a prepped track, it was just regular asphalt, actually on a long oval track for top speed testing, but it was on Cup 2 tires, not PS4S's like yours.

To get a true idea of what these cars can do, you need Andy Wallace in the Bugatti and Miro in the Rimac , proper racing drivers with racing driver reaction times and not the size of a small house

Not really. We already see that from factory testing on these cars. Other channels are much more professional with this line car wow/motor trend etc.

Thank you guys for a great video of a race that everyone has wanted to see for a long time now! I hadn’t been this excited for a video in awhile. Love your guys’s videos and I definitely wanna see some more races with the Rimac Nevera. You should race the Rimac against that Twin-Turbo R8 that can run the 1/4 mile in the 7’s! I think there’s 1 or 2 dudes that have twin turbo R8’s like that. I’d absolutely love to see the Rimac get embarrassed by an ICE supercar. I think the Twin-Turbo R8’s that can run in the 7’s in the quarter mile are the only ones that can beat it that I can think of. Great video guys! Keep up the good work!
