Hi, sorry I thought you were young lovers before. Btw, I admire the respect between you two siblings. Waleska and Efra such a unique name.. Waleska you look like a kid in my eyes before
Little known fact: Pilita Corrales had a brief recording stint in Australia and is the first female artist to top the Australian charts with her single "Come closer to me" in 1957. She is also the first Filipino to perform in Las Vegas after being invited by Sammy Davis, Jr.
Yes! She's a pioneer of Australian television and topped the Australian chart even way before Olivia-Newton John and the first Filipino to win an international award. She won the 1st Tokyo Music Festival.
PILITA CORRALES IS ASIA'S QUEEN OF SONGS SHE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST SPANISH SINGING ICONS OF THE PHILIPPINES. SHE SPEAKS PERFECT SPANISH. DURING HER HEYDAY, A STREET IN AUSTRALIA WAS NAMED AFTER HER AND IT STILL EXITS UP TO THIS DAY. ELIZABETH IS ALSO A PHILIPPINE SINGING ICON.
you should find a video of her during her prime .. she is called "THE QUEEN OF ROCK n' ROLL" of the philippines ... she reigned during the elvis presley era !! and she is crazy, she is also known as "THE TINA TURNER OF THE PHILIPPINES" ...
Bisaya is an umbrella of languages (not just dialects because they have very little vocabulary overlap, among other features) from that region -- Cebuano, Waray, Illonggo, etc are examples of Visayan languages. Ms. Pilita is singing in Cebuano, because I speak that particular language. I'm having a hard time hearing Ms. Elizabeth's words, but the ones I could hear also sounded Cebuano.
I may be wrong but I think Waray-waray and Hiligaynon could not be considered as belonging to the "Bisaya" group of languages since they are way too different in terms of grammar construction and word usage. But if you are referring to proximity inbterms of geography, then yes they will be languages in the Visayas.
SPLENDID! Glad you got hold of this video. These two most wonderful women and world-class musical artists are Philippine legends...our gems. Ms. Pilita Corrales (I believe she's in her early 80s) is still performing, occasionally, in special events, private concerts (still in demand) and popular TV invites. She is Asia's Queen of Songs while Ms. Elizabeth Ramsey was a very popular singer, actress, comedian, and a total performer. Both are world-class performers who've travelled all over and quite famous especially in North American stages/arenas. Ms. Ramsey had regular stints in American bases' clubs in the Philippines during the 60's-80's era. Very famous in her own right, and later introduced her daughter Jaya (Asia's Queen of Soul) to the entertainment world. This beautiful multi-talented artist passed away several years ago but sorely missed and remembered by many Filipino and international fans. Quite a remarkable performance. You should listen/view more about these two great talents. Such joy!
I'm happy knowing this kind of video from the PH brings back memories to both of you. Indeed, we got too many similarities it felt like we just got lost in Asia for some reasons XD
Pilita is The Asia’s Queen Of Songs. She was the Front Act of the very controversial concert of The Beatles in Manila where they said that they are more famous than Jesus Christ!
When I moved to the US. Watching Univision was as close as I can get to home. So I really get how you guys feel. And I appreciate how you love Filipinos.
They're singing "Rosas Pandan", a Visayan song. A lot of Visayan songs have a folkloric feel to it which reckons back to our Spanish roots and influence.
Rosas Pandan is a Visayan Folk Song, (from Cebu I think) and has a very naughty lyrics. It’s always sung by different countries either in a competition or exhibition. And that beat that you call Paso Doble is what our Waraynon calls Kuradang.
Singing in Visayan (Bisaya). I love how you both immerse in a country’s musical culture-talk about it, discuss it, dissect it. Music is such a wonderful vehicle of getting to know a country or culture. I’ve gotten to learn more about a country’s culture through you guys. More power and blessings to both of you.
i love you both for your genuine reactions to what you're watching, your true interest in music, musicians and other culture and your wonderful informative discussions. Keep it up!
PILITA CORALES is a ASIA'S QUEEN of SONGS and ELIZABETH RAMSEY are both ACTORS,SINGER and COMEDIAN....and they're SINGING VISAYA here in this performance...
Oh my loved this..... plenty of Elizabeth Ramsey's performance ha ha ha funny and hilarious, more from her please Proud Mary cover she nailed it added flavour also her own style of singing 👍👍😁😍🤗❤️
My father was 1/4 Spanish and most of his relatives are fair and speaks fluent Spanish. I refused to learn piano and Spanish from Spanish teachers just because they were rude and hypocrites. They would discriminate us because we are dark. On the flip side, we are so thankful that they brought with them Christianity and literally shove it down into our throat and for that we are so blessed and thankful! Viva Kristo Rey!!🙏 Btw, our maniana habit and the siesta time during lunch hour are something we appreciate and still love to do as well. 😂
I'm from Cebu Philippines (Visayas region) where Pilita Corales was born. Spanish culture has greatly influenced Visayan music. ❤️ I love my language and the visayan folk songs. My tìo and tìa sings these songs with Tùba an alcoholic drink from coconut sap 😅
I love you both for taking time to watch and react to this two beautiful and lovely icons, sad to say momElizabeth is in heaven already ang momPilita still active and gorgeous they're both legends. thank you and take care

Pilita Coralles is the one who discovered jaya in the states and encourage jaya to start her singing career in the Philippines. Pilita is the first manager of jaya and a second mother to her. She actually mentioned her in your jaya interview. Folk music are very known specially in provinces. Pilita and Elizabeth are best of friends.
Elizabeth is a super Jazz singer and a comedian! Pilita as others mentioned already is the Asian Queen of songs! Check her out, especially her Spanish songs! Pilita speaks very fluent Spanish
The song they are singing is a classic Bisaya song. I used to hear this song when I was young. When my grandma does karaoke, she usually sings this. It truly is nostalgic.
The song is in Cebuano(dialect of Bisaya). Fun fact: this kind of music is highly folkloric in the Philippines and I believe both in Cebu(cebuano) and in Samar-Leyte(waray-waray) this sound is still popular even with new modern take. Often you’ll hear it in yearly community fiestas. In our province(Samar) this is a staple in every village(barangay) balls. From where I’m from we have “Kuratsa” “Cha-cha” and “Aminudo” as a right of passage to adulthood and to the community. This video is so nostalgic and I appreciate you taking your time reacting to them.
i was lucky to have watched pilita corrales and the late elizabeth ramsey when they were still younger in the 80s and 90s. their energy was very infectious and they were both funny.
Pilita Corrales families are pure Spanish born in Cebu City. She is of course speaks fluent Spanish, Cebuano(Bisayan), Tagalog. Elizabeth Ramsey is part African American part Filipino born in Cebu City. Both are singers & entertainers. This Cebuano song was very popular when I was a kid. I checked Vanezuelan Lila Morillo's songs & you are right, the rhythm & beat of the songs are very similar. You can check out this song: Carinosa by Pilita Corrales
You guys are the most intelligent reviewers I’ve come across in UA-cam. Most content creators of your generation could hardly come up with one complete sentence that makes actual sense. Brava
Yes they're a great performer in the whole world both of them PILITA CORALES and Elizabeth Ramsey.. that song that they've sing entitled ROSAS PANDAN, originally sung by PILITA CORALES...
IT'S THE SAME IN THE PHILIPPINES, MOSTLY IN VISAYAS AND PARTS OF MINDANAO, BECAUSE CULTURALLY VISAYANS LIVE MOST PART OF MINDANAO! BALITAW ( FOLK SONG) WHICH IS PREVALENT IN THE VISAYAN REGION! I have a very close family here in Cebu with a family name HERRERA, very close indeed since elementary up to college and up to now in our 70s (oldies but goodies still), like brother to me. So many Herreras in Cebu. We even had a Herrera senator of our country back then.
you said tukayo meaning 2 person with same name. funny how similar we call it. anyway, Pilita Corales is spanish who grew up in cebu hence she speaks bisaya. while Elizabeth Ramsey was fil/african who is also cebuano. both of them are great performer Pilita is the Asia's Queen of songs while Elizabeth does Rock and roll like tina turner. They used to perform in vegas as well. one of filipino pride. you shld react on their videos sometime. Thank you and Godbless.🙂
Speaking of “nature” like sound replication. Please check out Tengri’s “Heaven”. Mind boggling performance. And for other ‘old school’ or folk loric songs, try listening as well to Sampaguita.
Elizabeth and pilita are both famous during thier time, elizabeth is a comedian too...if they sang together its so much hilarious yet entertaining....i love this video
Wow that was fun, thanks for sharing. I often see other international singers and chorales singing this as their competition piece, should check it out. Contributing my two cents here regarding Philippine music, whilst the west had their opera, Filipinos were writing soulful *Kundiman* songs with poetic verses reminiscent of love songs, a prayer to God, or to the motherland because they've longed to be free from the oppression of their conquistadors. This is probably why they sing mostly melancholic ballad songs and I think the earlier songs were in Spanish. Also during this period, to serenade someone you need to sing to them at night with a guitar or a band under their window, this is called *Harana.* One of the popular song called *"Dahil Sa'Yo"* (Because of You) was also sung by Nat King Cole and Julio Iglesias.
They both legends in different ways but came from same regions in Cebu / visayas region which were the 1st Spanish landed and bring Christianity the land Philippines. Mabuhay
They're singing in Bisaya but in Spanish beats, PASADOBLE, yes it's a folkloric song a very old music when they're very famous in the local television show. Philippines has so much Spanish influence.😀😀😀👏👏👏
Elizabeth was the queen of rock and roll and she also performed in Las Vegas...They're both legend and one of the best singers /performers in our country Phils...They were singing in Visayan dialect...😍
