Bloody Hell Ed!! I never knew you worked on this! This is not only one of my favourite Spiritualised tracks, but one of my favourite tracks EVER!! You clever boy. This is Mat the drummer from Mantaray by the way. Hope you are well mate!
Hi Mattie...how are you ??? was playing the re and the blue just the other day...what fun we had making that !!!....hope you and yours are all good x@@mattiemclean9882
@@edbuller4435 Yes we sure had fun making that album! I remember playing "Mario Kart" on the (state of the art at the time) computer games console! ... also remember doing some naughty trippy things as well! Are you still making/producing music? I'm still drumming and producing ambient music.... We never really got to talk properly about music... if I had known then that you had produced "feel so sad" by Spiritualised, I would have fallen at your feet in a heap!! Seriously tho... big respect for that work
@@edbuller4435 By the way Ed, there is a great vid on UA-cam called "inside the song ; Black hole sun"... I remember we were referencing that song/ production a lot during our recording … the producer breaks down all the component parts.. most interesting!
Listening to this at midnight as it’s pouring outside, with the world falling apart, humanity being wretched and life being miserable as usual.. this song is oddly comforting in such a serene way.
If stranded on a desert island, this is one of the songs I would choose. Over the course of thirteen transcendental minutes, you move from the dark depths of sorrow and suffering to the spiritual heights of a sublime bliss-out.
My friend who gave me this track was my best friend ever i have a photo of him in my wallet and all the Newyear eves have been so shit without him. Paddy Whealan Boston to Tara Hill. r.i.p and back again.
qiyamat93 They got it so right and hardly anybody 'got' them. I like it that way. They are our's... the comments on Spiritualized uploads are just more intelligent, knowledgable and, dare I say, spiritual, than on other bands uploads... in my expert opinion!! Hehe
What a shame the brilliant line-up of this recording didn't stay together for very long. Will Carruthers' brilliant book detailing his regret about leaving the band. Mark Refoy and Jon Mattock always so good live.
Shouldn't really be listening to this as it creates a wallowing in loss and loneliness situation for me. BUT my girlfriend broke up with me last night and so wallowing is what I need today. I've loved this since song the original came out or hearing it live before it came out and it's always struck me how it represents the sense of loneliness so we'll let alone the words but the whole feel. Let the wallowing continue!
Nick McCabe's big moment in that song is Godly, always thought him and Jason Pierce should start a band called The Nerve after Ashcroft nicked Jason's missus and shamelessly tried to sell himself as the creative genius behind his band at the expense of everyone else. Not to mention McCabe and Pierce would work just lovely on a musical level, I think we need The Nerve 😂😂😂😂
That human beings can find a way to make something like this (gather monetary support, etc., to make it possible), renews my faith in humanity a wee bit
Oceanographer Radio May I ask how old you are? This song has been with me through so many ups and downs (mainly downs as it is my go-to music for feeling lonely) i think after a certain time we have to accept that our lives wont be the happy harmonious place we once dreamed of. This music helps with that notion. On a beautiful way.
It's a rare song that can chill you out, break your heart, and lift your spirits by the time it's over.
you got that right my friend. Words can't explain how much this song means to me
My first production. I was very lucky to get to make this. Jason has already done a fantastic job with it. But we made it better

Awe-inspiring production.

This is possibly the most beautiful song from the last 30 years. Has everything for me. Superb.

Spiritualized's outtakes from this period are better than most folks could dream of producing
Epic epicness right here

One of the best songs that has ever been made
this and many many other spiritualized tunes are timeless. jason speaks to the soul

Been a fan for years....just listening to this now
This is just...so sad and beautiful the same time!
Amazing music. This and the Peel Sessions material are some of my favorite music. I am extremely grateful to you for posting.
One of the best , most soul-touching songs ever.... destroyed by youtube compression in 240px. Nice.
My favorite song of all time.
(Alongside "Already There" by the Verve.)
The shining moment of the Spaceman's career.
kate radley ran away wit richard ashcroft from the verve
sonic boom has a marvelous album out

@@ewanleaper1493 That would be an amazing collaboration of 2 musical geniuses.
those are two of my favorite songs as well. Nice
Love this, so hauntingly beautiful
beautiful
Back when Spiritualized made truly transcendental music
One of the songs I want played at my funeral.
This sounds like Soul Music mixed with Eurofolk and a little bit Chinese Classical to Me. Very soothing.
Probably the best thing they ever recorded, along with the Peel Session version of this song.
This reminds of Smile-era Brian Wilson: using multiple movements within a song with a single melodic phrase.
That human beings can find a way to make something like this (gather monetary support, etc., to make it possible), renews my faith in humanity a wee bit
Sweet lord I know... I hate this lonely life so
"Sweet Lord Its a sin to live this life suffering".... what can be done about it tho?
I feel so sad everyday at this time of my life.... and I wonder if this will change when I come back here in a few years in the future.
I bet no.

You will feel the same...it is a loop
Growing up going to a Pentecostal church, those moments when you speak in tongues, this is the closest to what it felt like.
J. Spaceman. Always bringing back the sax!
Shocking sound quality.
