    I got a kick out of hearing you talk about sleeping in a tent on your honeymoon. My husband and I went on a camping trip after we got married- in a Volkswagen and a tent and a hibachi to cook on! I’m a bit older than you and Elizabeth- we got married in 1972. My husband has always had a Harley motorcycle and we have taken many many trips in it over the USA in the 47 years we’ve been married. It makes me smile to see you two having so much fun in your cottage. Many blessings to you two. It’s been a joy to folllow your channel for the the last several years. Safe Travels!

    Wishing in away I could travel but Its harvest time.. just put up 14 quarts of pickles and 106 pounds of tomatoes are ripening as we speak. I did a few diced tomatoes with thriveife ingredients and experimenting..next with salsas.. If ever u need a boondocking site near the mackinaw bridge in the wild forest near lake Huron just let me know. I have a very isolated pine filled forest clearing or just a clearing on the edge of the forest in my food plot field. No people AT ALL. I would love to start a over night spot for travelers.. its definitely areas I cannot see from my home giving the traveler privacy. But again u would need solar! Have a fun time drive safe be Blessed💖

      @Balsam Acres great idea and nice to offer. I want to make a go to spot here in Pa. Also on a farm too. Im in the Poconos here and Spring comes earlier, and were still warmer here. So no heat yet, and it gets some snow here up in the mountains but it doesnt last long usually melting a day or two after it falls. Then it sticks in Jan to Feb. But this past year it only stayed a couple weeks and then was gone.
      The fall leaves are beautiful and the river gets full of rafters in summer as its easy to navigate. Jim Thorpe near us is a Victorian themed town with many restored to that era.
      Here i hope to get a little bigger spot and grow more garden once again. Im already growing sugar maples, and mulberries for food sources. Its in my blood...lol thanks for taking about your nice farm spot. I bet you have good insights on growing food to share too.

    • @TrinityRidge1959

      Cherrie.. thank you and I really only started farming for my food 5 years ago. But I was on a very DIY farm growing up. Like chicken day, make your own butter can your own food. I worked pretty hard and spent any spare time in church or bible study. But I gotta say I had the best childhood. Btw my hubby's family are all from P.A. I love that state its gorgeous year round but those roads in winte!!??? Ice and mountain roads. Yikes. I give you credit. That would be awesome to share our land and sites. We have the cross in the woods free, sunken ship tour with a glass bottom boat..NOAA free admission the museums.. call of the wild, then mackinaw is a day trip, then tipi iti kitchi.. picture rock..and the abandoned ore town in garden city.. Oswald bear sanctuary Garlyn zoo all day trips from me. Oh cant 4get petoskey and traverse city and they have tons of things to do. Hardly anybody ever comes here tourist wise the summers are cool and comfy..fall colors also are fabulous.. it's an idea if anyone needs a stop over if the are traveling through or want to site see. We are definitely on the same page. I would love to travel but seems it's not in my cards for now. If I did I would live to have a stay over on your land. Love from Michigan to Pennsylvania.

      I avoid New York City like the plague! But upsate New York is the prettiest state in the northeast! We love to go upstate. Watkins Glen, Adirondacks, Niagara Falls, Letchworth State Park. Wide, flat valleys in between great mountains. And ALL NY state highways have wide paved shoulders. It's the best state we've found for riding a bicycle long distance. We love it!

    I saw another person requesting a video on how to park a camper and that would really be helpful. My husband and I just bought a camper about the size of y'alls and I'm just a tenny bit concerned about the parking of it. Neither of us have a lot of experience here. Be good to get some pointers from a professional.

    When i was growing up the the 70's.. iam a 1964.. arival to life... My dad took our family on camping vacations.. for 2 weeks every year... In a truck camper and pop up trailer.. some of the state parks.. way up North in Maine.. You could not see .. the next site over or across the way.. you felt alone.. pitch black at night.. but we experienced.. many different.. campgrounds over the years.. and in Canada... Enjoy your experience's.. P.S.. my dad would only stay at a campground for 2 nights.. then he would.. look at his map.. and find a other places to visit.. every year for his vacation... We saw and did many things.. our last family vacation was to the 1983 worlds fair in Knoxville Tennessee.. and did Kuckey horse park.. and churchill Downs.. then to ceadar point amusement park . Then back home.. i was 19.. just before i whent into the NAVY.

    I love Watkins. We live about 20 minutes away in Penn Yan so we go there often. If you ever go back I'd suggest checking out Havana Glen. It's just past Watkins and Montour Falls on 14S heading toward Elmira. It is BEAUTIFUL and peaceful there as well. I feel sad I haven't been able to keep up with you this summer. I got very sick and my autoimmune Neuro disease came out of remission so I have not been doing much but sleeping and trying to re-coup some ability back again. Anyway, not whining about me!
    I'm so glad you got to re-visit a cherished memory like this! And hey, it's time you guys started doing the (almost) full time RVing thing, right?!? Travel South in the winter and back up North in the summer!

      Patti Simmons We are almost neighbors, lol. We are just west of Corning and south of Bath/Hammondsport areas. We were just in Penn Yan this past weekend on our way to the outlets in Waterloo/Geneva. I used to work in the vineyards picking grapes 🍇 along Keuka in the late 1980’s. Small world 🙂. It would be great if you were feeling well and able to attend THP’s Meet Up in Owego in October. I’m scheduled for another neuro spinal surgery in mid October, so I’m looking forward to the meet-up as kind of my last hurrah 😄 before being laid up all winter again 🥶. The Finger Lakes/Southern Tier of NYS sure is a gorgeous place to live, but wreaks havoc on those with autoimmune-chronic illness-chronic pain patients. I’ll be saying a prayer for you 🙏🏼 💕

      Have you ever been to the Windmill? I LOVE that place. Even as a local it's fun to go up! There's always new things to look at. It's a nice way to spend Saturday morning. I worked out in the vineyards too! Same time period too. I could have worked with you! lol
      I would love to go to the Meet Up if I'm feeling well enough to travel. It would be awesome to meet these folks. I think they're just so cute! Definitely a goal to reach for!
      I hope you do well with you're surgery!! I'll pray it goes well and that it's a complete success! And yes, this is the most beautiful area I have lived in but it DOES wreak Havoc with the body! Those of us who live with this stuff are surly stronger than we THINK we are though. I never would have imagined being like this when I was younger. I also never would have believed it would be a Blessing in disguise either, but it has been. It forced me to slow down and to appreciate things more... like good days.
      Aww, but I digress 😉
      Hope I get to meet you and everyone at the Meet Up!!
      God Bless Rachel!

      The Windmill is awesome!!! I have family not far from you, over in Dundee, Rock Stream and Watkins. Funny thing about Havana Glen, my mother called me today asking if I’ve ever been there because she and her best friend are camping there this coming weekend and taking her friend’s grandkids. I said, “oh it’s a beautiful place”. I told her we’ve never camped there but I have “friends” who do. I just didn’t tell her they were UA-cam friends, ha ha ha. I do hope you are well enough to attend the meet up and I’ll be sending out a prayer for you 🙏🏼💕

    OMGosh....I'm originally from Upstate, N. Y. (Fulton) and my parents took us to Watkin's Glen a couple of times when I was growing up. One time, when I was around 11, I was in one of the areas where you walk under the falls and there was just a little wooden railing there to protect you from going over the edge. I slipped, as the ground was wet from the falls, and my arms were holding onto the railing while the rest of my body was under the railing and hanging over the gorge. My brother, who was a bit ahead of me, heard me hollaring, and he ran back and helped me back up. That was a little scary!!! I used to take my children back to New York every summer to visit my parents, but that was one place we never got to. Always wanted to, but for one reason or another, I never got back there again. But I LOVED Watkin's Glen and its beauty. I will never forget it!!! ENJOY!!! 💕

    Time to add JB weld to the tool box. I think that would've done the trick on the jack. There's a whole etiquette for parking at Walmart's and you broke two of them. No landing gear and no slides out what so ever.
    You're getting some editing skills there old friend, was tickled pink of you talking to yourself. Enjoy the outdoors my friend.

    • @LiveSimpleLiveFree
      @LiveSimpleLiveFree  5 років тому

      Yes, I'm just learning, and I'm concerned about proper etiquette. So I observe others to see what's expectable. As I looked around at the other RVs at Walmart, most of them have their slides out - most of them all the way out. Ours goes out about 3.5 feet, and we only move it out about 8 inches when we're in Walmart. And what difference do stabilizers in Walmart make? They don't take up anymore parking space?

    • @jerrydensmore2887
      @jerrydensmore2887 5 років тому

      @@LiveSimpleLiveFree They leave indents in the asphalt which leads to pot holes that the owner of Walmart has an added cost that shouldn't be there. It is private property mind you, who lets you be a guest for overnight. As far as the slides go, as long as your slide isn't sticking out on the parking space next to you then it should be fine. Try to always park with your slide facing a median at the very back of the lot as you come in or on the sides of the lot. Not in back of the store cause that's where the semis come in to unload and as an old trucker you would understand about making your job harder cause some fool and his camper is sleeping in your way.
      This is not a monkey see monkey do etiquette. plenty of tubers have made this very topic known to the community.

    • @LiveSimpleLiveFree
      @LiveSimpleLiveFree  5 років тому +1

      @@jerrydensmore2887 OK, gotcha about the stabilizers. I guess it depends on how hot it is, how big and heavy your rig is, and how much weight you put on the stabilizers, and whether you use a board underneath to distribute the weight. I certainly would not use them if I though there was any chance of indenting the pavement. And we certainly never park in back by the loading docks - always on the far end of the parking lot, as far away from the store as we can get! And that's why we only move the slide out a few inches, so we don't intrude into another parking spot.
