I’m literally crying right now because I have to go in to work. No job should ever make someone feel like that

After working as a CNA for eight years, I have been a nurse for five years. Healthcare workers face difficult challenges, and I often feel depressed at work.

Girl I was so tired of doing aide work. I’ve been doing agency cna for 2 years now because the money is indeed better than staff. But the the type of work that we do is just not worth it. I just went through a Certified Medication Aide program and got licensed through the state Board of Nursing last month. Now I work as a medication aide and only pass meds while I’m going through nursing school. My body and mind has thanked me!

I’m working as a CNA at the hospital because I’m applying to the RN program for the fall. It’s HARD work! And it’s alot and stressful. I’m glad I know what it’s about so I can be a better nurse. Although I’m starting to get a little overwhelmed with my decision and I hope I’m making the right one

I’m thinking about leaving the profession all together. The nursing homes are nasty and they don’t care about those patients. The narcissism the nursing homes are nasty. Very demanding people want control the work is not enough. What I will not be is a slave

    Hello everyone,
Yes, most facilities have CNA shortages, they only have LPN one per station and no RN.
I agree with our host, please find a way to keep your parents safely home. If you can talk with your church, neighbors, relatives and take turns or assist them in exchange for help with your loved one.
    Stay healthy.

I am going through the program to apply for nursing school. My instructor said the CNA does all the work. The nurse sits back and gets paid to use their brain. 😮 She has a BSN, and they pay her $60 an hour for overnight shift. She said all she has to do is stay awake, and the CNA has to answer all the call lights and provide care etc. Hell nah! I told her fuck that! I would rather apply for the med aide and keep my side gig. I am not sold.

I know what you mean I was working as a resident care aid to get my foot in the door ... and work my way up ... and NOT the residents or there family but the workers even HR made me feel like this was not for me and made me feel dumb and I did not want any of that I even went to talk to hR and she was Lawsy human .. so now I'm here going back to old jobs I had ... butninalso thought I will not let one unprofessional place take me down ..... and you seem like you can run ur own services you should definitely do that

  • @sharonwilliams4032

To me its the workers the staff unprofessionalism short never enough workers. Cnas quavo messy want they set area to work argue about what who gone do and too many chiefs and not enough indians. Im not a argumentive person so my skin is thin and i will quit in a minute if my sanity is the on the line. But i agree with you 15 years ago money was good for cnas making double time now cna work is so unethical that you have to take breaks mentally and physically because you gone wore out.

If family could take care of a them they wouldn’t need to put them in a nursing home. It’s a full time job taking care of just one person so how do you expect family to take care of a giant adult and take care of themselves and their full time jobs. It’s a struggle that’s why they end up turning them in to a nursing home….I don’t blame them.

Really it’s up to you. I’d say try it to see if you like it. People get into it for the money then some realize it’s not worth it. But you have to have a heart to serve. A heart that cares for the elderly and disabled. I love the connection I make with the residents, but when you have a heavy work load you can’t really give your residents the quality time and quality care (if you care to provide good care to your residents) but you also may get into a good facility. Perhaps try an assistant living facility first, they have easier loads like most the residents are walking and the physical care is minimum like doing their laundry and making the beds if they don’t make their own and helping with the dinning room. But all places are different. You can also try doing Homecare where you go to their homes and take care of 1 resident in the privacy of their own home. I like this one but most times the pay is less but the work load is less also unless you find a good paying one. I once had a family that took me to the family wedding, flew me out. Had my own room. Just had to shower the mom and dress her and assist with bedtime while the family partied and I was off to my self. It’s a great experience either way, you’ll learn to have compassion for the elderly and perhaps grow a different perspective as oppose to just the financial end of it. Hope that helps.

Yeah the pros and cons of working in a Assisted Living Facility is that you get too many residents to take care of. Pros You get more pay as a state certified C.N.A. NOW when you work for a Agency you only concentrate on one patient at a time.
