My sister here in UK had a rat infestations in her backyard, we had to call the local authorities who send people to investigate and found out the rats were coming from an old railway station. They caught about 8 or more under her shed.

I work pest control those are called a T-Rex snap traps. Make sure you put them in corners where the part that traps is facing a wall. Now don't recommend putting them outside unless under something outside.
Is peanut butter or Nutella or even slim jims and you will catch them constantly.

Advice on catching rats, us as many different types of traps as you can. They are smart they learn very quick. Put meat as bait for your traps the more it smells the better.
