- A pack train led by Kit Carson is attacked by Kraft and his Mystery Riders, who want a government shipment of gold carried by the wagons. Matt Fargo manages to hide the gold, but Carson must confront the Mystery Riders time after time in order to prevent them from finding and carrying away the treasure.

However, I think you are missing the point of these serials. We went to the theater every week to see a chapter of the serial and a couple of cartoons. This was entertainment with actors exhibiting good and bad behavior.

Endless horseback chases....well, what you want for nothing? When Republic took over Mascot, the serials changed instead to endless fist fights with the heroes. But outstanding here were all the great running leaps onto horses by Noah Beery, Jr., Johnny Mack Brown and Betsy King Ross---or at least their stunt doubles!

Noah Beery Senior is Oscar worthy for his devilish looks, sneers, grimaces, eye movements, and bluster! The greatest!

Good serial. Johnny Mack Brown and a young Noah Beery were good together. Always have liked character actor parts that Noah Beery Jr played, he only got better and better.

O.K. I did find the ending. I guess I got mixed up because of the member of the gang telling how Kraft got the gold and how Kraft had Fargo killed which retelling happened just before the events that ended the last chapter etc. Sorry for my confusion.

I switched to watching this on another UA-cam channel when I noticed the picture has been unnecessarily stretched out from the original 4:3 aspect ratio to the modern 16:9. Why would distorting the picture be considered preferable to having black bars on the screen that won't even be seen while watching?
I don't see an actual ending or climax.
Does anyone else?

Mystery Riders? Good question, and I don't have an answer. Shouldn't one suspect that they would be riding black or dark bay horses?
