+Irfan Mansor It's really not that hard. It'd be harder if he played every note of the triplet but the part was written where he's only playing the 2nd and 3rd note of the triplet
The way that Ryan plays it is different to Dirk, he does the triplet but only the last two notes, but Dirk plays all the notes. Both machines in their own right.
Only Devin and his music has the power which can compel me to wave my hands like an idiot in front of my laptop screen wearing earphones all alone in my room. (and to make youtube comments)
I've been there. First thought before the show started: "Devin fuckin who...??". During the Show: "Goddamn thats good". After the show: "Thanks god I didn't miss it - AWESOME!
Seeing Dev with a huge smile on stage makes me stop missing SYL, I got that shit on CDs anyway. My only grief is I never heard Shitstorm live while it was hot. But that's ok, the sun is shining now. Rock on devyboy, we love you madly and deeply.
I was lucky to hear shitstorm live, saw an amazing night in Bristol were I live, it was zimmers hole, then Devin Townsend project then SYL, fuckin awsome👍
Sadly, everybody in this band was replaceable. You can't say that about a Gene Hoglan or Jed Simon. Nowadays he makes more Disney music than anything heavy. However, I also wouldn't want a SYL reunion if they didn't make it heavy and ruin the old albums by that. SYL will always be legendary and maybe shouldn't be touched again but not getting anything more and never seeing them is the worst loss in my life.
Man, I enjoyed that blonde girl during Deadhead! So glad that I'm not the only one that had to wipe tears from my face. Shit, this performance is just astonishing. Thank you Devin for improving life on earth.
After listening to the entire concert I'm starting to like this band their different and their so great with the crowd I'm gonna start listening to Devin Townsend more often! \m/
It's incredible how Devin (and the band) manage to create such a massive sound with only two guitars, a drumkit and a bass. Thinking of By Your Command! Love that guy!
Add in huge sounding layers of keyboards by Mike St. Jean not played live here but on backing track (you can see him monitoring the backing track labtop during WAR) . He plays live keyboards in the Albert Hall concert 2015.
It's incredibly strange coming from "For Those Aboot To Rock" by SYL, to this. I love the diversity of Devin's musical catalogue, it is simply brilliant.
This vid is definitely worth the watch, if for nothing more than the performance of Supercrush! at the 47:25 mark. Good god, man...awesome. Seventh Wave is a great track...the opening from Ocean Machine: Biomech.
Copied setlist from Erebus' other video: Seventh Wave 3:31 War 9:59 By My Command 16:20 Deadhead 25:06 Planet Of The Apes 33:43 Numbered 46:02 Supercrush 51:00 Kingdom 56:24 Juular 1:01:32 Grace 1:06:38 Bad Devil 1:13:22
It must be really hard to play with Devin and dont mess it up while he keeps dropping lines like these: Ok, I'll ask a bunch of heavy metal questions: -You guys fucking ready to rock? -Are you guys making circle pits and shit and whatever? -U guys have repressed outlets and fantasies about punching your dad in the sack? Gotta love this guy!!!
I can see through the pan of the camera who doesn't speak English. Devin....you are absolutely correct in your approach....Bahhaha...Had me laughing my guts out. (fellow BC'er)
Someone needs to bring some life to these statues. I understand that not everybody that attends a metal show is into moshing, headbanging, etc, but for christ's sake, SOMEBODY MOVE! Maybe it's just me, but when Devin Townsend plays 'Kingdom' 'Bad Devil' 'Grace' (You get my point), I get a rush of adrenaline and I have to head bang. I can't just stand. If you see me standing, It's because I'm awe struck by Dev's astounding stage presence and musicianship.
barbwireboy2 Sure it does, man... Have you heard ANY other performance? This venue is the worst I've ever heard them, honestly. Any other venue, though, you can almost swear it's the damn CD playing at times except for Devin's voice. His music translates very well, actually!
I feel so sorry for the drummer everytime Juular is played
+Irfan Shamsuddin Luckily, Ryan is a competent individual~~~ :)
+Irfan Mansor It's really not that hard. It'd be harder if he played every note of the triplet but the part was written where he's only playing the 2nd and 3rd note of the triplet
i think Dirk Verbeuren did drums for Juular
dirk and ryan both did drums on that album from what I remember, bur Dirk did all the crazy shit
The way that Ryan plays it is different to Dirk, he does the triplet but only the last two notes, but Dirk plays all the notes. Both machines in their own right.
Am I the only one that has watched this like four times? Fucking love Devin. Z2 couldn't get here soon enough.
Me too! :D
Im on my 3rd time in 24 hrs!!
28301964 Just starting my 3rd, needed time to go through his discog again lol
So freaking awesome. Can't get enough!! Trying to go to the Chicago show in December.
Matthew Jones Agreed!
That girl during Deahhead... I'm in love
26:28 "Fuck that evil bullshit baby, it's time for fucking science"
Crushing.
Bad Devil is goofy and fucking fun. I love it.
Devin is life, Devin is love
I love how Dev is nervous for the first couple of songs, then he gets more confident and his voice gets more and more controlled. Great set.
Smart guy..smart band...I enjoyed it while I'm at the boring office
Best performance at Wacken 2014, hands down. Loved every second
Only Devin and his music has the power which can compel me to wave my hands like an idiot in front of my laptop screen wearing earphones all alone in my room. (and to make youtube comments)
I'm guessing that was the biggest group hug to take place at a metal show in the history of heavy metal music, haha. Love it
I've been there. First thought before the show started: "Devin fuckin who...??". During the Show: "Goddamn thats good". After the show: "Thanks god I didn't miss it - AWESOME!
THIS WAS GREAT BEYOND EXPECTATIONS
Seeing Dev with a huge smile on stage makes me stop missing SYL, I got that shit on CDs anyway. My only grief is I never heard Shitstorm live while it was hot. But that's ok, the sun is shining now. Rock on devyboy, we love you madly and deeply.
I do wish though that they would do "Love?" every once in a while, it's fucking beast live.
I agree with that. "Shitstorm" is the one SYL song I wish I got to see live.
As it turns out, the overflowing happiness was also a character he put on. It was fun, but I'm so glad Dev just keeps evolving as an artist.
I was lucky to hear shitstorm live, saw an amazing night in Bristol were I live, it was zimmers hole, then Devin Townsend project then SYL, fuckin awsome👍

50:43 The kid in the red shirt and blue hat is having his first Devin Townsend experience
god, what a fucking awesome band, and what a funny guy Devin is :D
47:26 COSTA RICA Fuck yeah!
Man, I enjoyed that blonde girl during Deadhead! So glad that I'm not the only one that had to wipe tears from my face. Shit, this performance is just astonishing. Thank you Devin for improving life on earth.
We need more devins in earth we can save this world
The blonde girl during Deadhead is sooo smitten.
i think 'moist' is the word you are looking for ;)
Obviously it was her favorite song, haha. She was quite moved :D
Yes...I wanna...hug her...
Can't blame her.
*****
from 21:30 (during "Deadhead")
31:13 Guy with Glasses: "Holy fuck - that's some technical shit!"
The moment you close your eyes, bang your head and just feel and hear the music. Yeah.... good times!
After listening to the entire concert I'm starting to like this band their different and their so great with the crowd I'm gonna start listening to Devin Townsend more often! \m/
I just got turned on to this guy through a guitar tab website. He made the loudest list of some small number of players. Much respect.
Devin was so awesome live....this show was just....amazing
1:02:30 GROUP HUG EPIC WIN
This guy is hilarious hahaha
kingdome !!! i cry everytime

Ahh hes so fucking good.
It's incredible how Devin (and the band) manage to create such a massive sound with only two guitars, a drumkit and a bass. Thinking of By Your Command! Love that guy!

extraordinary talented man! a pioneer in metal new style!
This is pretty epic
After watching this, I'll never bother even trying to play drums...never gonna be this good. I'm opening a deli or something...
He is just too good for this world.
I dont always listen to the metal music but when i do deven townsend does it with fun!!
What I love about Devin is that HE'S HAVING FUN. Metal isn't supposed to be doom and gloom.
Great n The best band ....i like it
And I was there.....YEAHHHHHHHHH
Awesome
that group hug tho!
Devin, you are beautiful!
It's incredibly strange coming from "For Those Aboot To Rock" by SYL, to this. I love the diversity of Devin's musical catalogue, it is simply brilliant.
Devin Townsend and his projects are nice if it's your taste but SYL will always be legendary and he won't even scratch on that level.
Great set list
COOLEST GUY IN THE UNIVERSE
Opens with the best song ever written!!!
26:26 "Fuck all that evil bullshit, baby! It's time for fucking science!"
Great setlist! Lots of my fav songs... Go Devin, go DTP! :)
excellent
aha grace dispersing the group hug as it starts to jiggle from within. awesome.

"I was in the studio until ten o'clock this morning. Right now? THIS IS FUCKING WEIRD."
So much awesome. (loves on DT)
good show devin
wow , just found this guy today thanks to story in a rag , my kool shit for the day ... ya
he was a guest in one of revamp last album. Top 5 male metal voice, definitely.
This is awesome, nice diverse set list too. Thanks for sharing!
GENIUS!
Ihsahn should have come for Juular, he played the same day with emperor like an hour before this show.
Awesome
13:44 Ahahahaha. I love that, he was so pumped when he saw himself on the screen
I lead the conga line at the end there. Best day ever.
Omg this is just absolutely fucking amazing.
Btw, I think I would marry that blonde girl
awesome show! thanx
7:00 Chile !!!! =)
I really hope he'll play Depth Charge live someday...
Awesome!
Devin out for a walk... looses signal
This vid is definitely worth the watch, if for nothing more than the performance of Supercrush! at the 47:25 mark. Good god, man...awesome.
Seventh Wave is a great track...the opening from Ocean Machine: Biomech.
If aliens ever land on Earth, we’ll have to show them Devin
1:02:32
Man, that's one dangerous ass moshpit..
1:08:22 dev you always crack me up "you talk to him, 2 seconds" lol
Z2 the new album is fucking awesome ... rock it. Ziltoïd the omniscient is the one...
DT is the light...and darkness too
1:02:30
I FUCKING LOST MY SIDES! They literally went to the moon
best way to listen to this (for me) is by hooking up an AMP to your laptop haha
WE LOVE JUULAR, EXCEPT....drummer
Mag Suns it's not the drummer's fault. We're only hearing one bass drum here. There's always some fuckery going on with Wacken videos.
Representin' @ 42:46!
Yup, that's me.
god f*cking lord this was great.
*group hugs*
6:01 Ziltoid!
Damn! He´s still so goddamn funny!!!! hahahahaha.
Copied setlist from Erebus' other video:
Seventh Wave 3:31 War 9:59 By My Command 16:20 Deadhead 25:06 Planet Of The Apes 33:43 Numbered 46:02 Supercrush 51:00 Kingdom 56:24 Juular 1:01:32 Grace 1:06:38 Bad Devil 1:13:22
Keep in mind that the other video starts 3 or 4 minutes earlier than this one, so the timings are a bit too late . Thanks anyways!
Except Deadhead starts at 22:05
The song starting @22:04 really reminds me of Killswitch Engage´s Desperate Times... awesome songs both of them. :D
I thought i was the only one who hears the similarity
Killswitch is shit.
+Infinitus Paradoxious Nah.
48:02 I have a Supercrush! on her
It must be really hard to play with Devin and dont mess it up while he keeps dropping lines like these:
Ok, I'll ask a bunch of heavy metal questions:
-You guys fucking ready to rock?
-Are you guys making circle pits and shit and whatever?
-U guys have repressed outlets and fantasies about punching your dad in the sack?
Gotta love this guy!!!
I can see through the pan of the camera who doesn't speak English.

1:02:30 GROUP HUG!!!! :D
His music doesn't translate quite as well live, but he is great with the crowd, so it makes up for it.
I agreed until i was on the Retinal Circus tour... You should see it! He defies the fundamental laws of badassness
Yeah this is his voice pretty shot, he's normally much better.
barbwireboy2 Sure it does, man... Have you heard ANY other performance? This venue is the worst I've ever heard them, honestly. Any other venue, though, you can almost swear it's the damn CD playing at times except for Devin's voice. His music translates very well, actually!
