Hello, I have had a bread maker for years but never really used it until this year, I used to get mixed results but now I am turning out really nice bread, so I thought I would share some tips that I do.
I place the ingredients in a specific order: Yeast first followed by the flour, milk powder, sugar, salt, water and last the oil. The important part is to not let the yeast come into contact with the salt.
When the machine is at the start of mixing take a look at it, the dough should not be going round in a ball as it will not be needing the doughld be like a limpet clinging to the walls of the bowl..
If it is going round and round in a ball, add a small amount of water, all flours have a different water ratio so you cant take the book recipe for being accurate this is more so with wholemeal flour. If to wet add more flour.
Wholemeal loaf is harder than a pure white so start with a white loaf and next time do a 25% whole meal and see how it works out.
Here is a recipe I have been using and the order I use them:
    Yeast 1 heaped teaspoon.
    385g Flour.
    1 Tablespoon Sugar.
    2.5 Tablespoons of milk powder.
    1 Teaspoon of salt.
    240g warm water.
2.5 Tablespoons of sun flower oil.
I remove the dough after approx 2 hrs (when kneading cycle has finished) to remove the paddle. (wet hands lightly) replace in machine to complete the whole cycle.
Cook time 3 hours wholemeal setting.
    Hope that helps, Ken

very "clean" presentation ...why all that dirt on you mate? and why you put the things on the ground, especially where you have the dog food ...wtf ??? this is so bad from every angle

I get it, we decided to make a quick video. The bread maker arrived from Amazon while we were doing some DIY, hence the messy trousers. Thanks,

I love this bread machine! Bought it as a treat for my birthday last year but only got round to using it during lockdown this year. Having freshly baked bread has surprisingly done wonders for my mental health while I’ve been working from home. I get perfect loaves every time, even when I’m experimenting with different dough recipes.

I wish the book correctly said you don't need skimmed milk. I omit it because there's no need to torture cows. UA-cam Dairy is Scary. The recipe book for this says to put in loads of sugar. Thankfully I know from my Panasonic one that you don't need anywhere near as much.

Can you use olive oil instead of sunflower oil? Surely it doesn’t make a difference?

I’ve bought this machine recently as a replacement. The new machine doesn’t cook as well as the old one. I have tried fastbake 1 recipe and the top is always pale and the bread quite moist. There is no extra bake, it just cooks, not kneads. But I found out, the sugar I was using was half spoon, not real sugar. (Bag in cupboard, the wrong one ). No wonder my loaf was disgusting.😅

As I've said on another video review... I've on my 21st wholewheat loaf try.. and I an yet to get a good loaf result... each come out dense at he bottom of the loaf.. and heavy not soft inside and I have done many tests by changing the amount of flour etc. to get the right type of loaf.. still trying.. The blade is a sod to get out of a baked loaf.. Since it is non-stick you have to try to dig it out with a kitchen tool that don't scratch the pan or the blade Not easy to do that. Yes also as you stated I also needed to use a silicone soft spatula to move the ingredients into the mixing middle after the start as they do get pushed to the corners! One thing really bugs me about the measuring items.. the plastic is the wrong type for this work as I've found that even using boiling water and dish soap you can't get rid of the oil feeling after the oil was measured out? It seems to hang onto the semi-oil feeling like a coating left behind even after the washing of the measuring spoon. Not helpful that. I use all the loose ingredients not the pre-mixed packets for cost reasons. shame now with the virus problems the shops have no flour or bread ingredients anyway due to panic buying.

At second PUNCH DOWN at 1 : 50 to 1 : 40 - you can remove the paddle. This is just before third rising.

Can anyone tell me if I can change the loaf size after I’ve started my bread machine please? I’ve only just had it and forgot to change the size. It’s a 1.5lb loaf but it’s set to 2lbs! 🤦‍♀️ and will it spoil the loaf because I’ve done this?

    • @broski631

Keep practicing, Lorraine. It’ll come out perfect sooner or later.

2hrs is a long time and that doesn’t include prep, and 1200W is a lot of power for one loaf, that’s around 0.50p. Add in the price of ingredients plus time spent and it’s not much cheaper than buying a nice seeded farmhouse loaf for £1.50 from Tesco.

Bread ingredients is 4 shop bought has around 17 if I can't spell the ingredients I won't eat it. We are going to have huge food shortages soon. Some are designed and also from crops being ruined by rain. They've already got in place insects for bread. Yum yum

@@DanielJohnHowTo buy bread tin and let dough rise in that for 1hour the shape is perfect. 500g flour, 300g water, 7g yeast, 1.5 tea spoon salt, 1.5 tea spoon sugar, 30g butter. Mix and hand kneed for 10 min then in oven for 35min, so simple.

Have you tried Amazon or i think its Dove mill or something like that.Just put what flour you need in search engine and loads of places come up. Just say you want bread flour ,just put Allisons bread flour and places come up,failing that go to Wrights or Allisons website.Amazon was good. But prices are crazy.Good Luck.👍
