i absolutely love that the end of the journey was not where it was expected at the start. so often, we don't allow ourselves the freedom to play. i think that's why we all love vlogmas so much. that skein is gorgeous. it's got a little bit of a washed denim (even though not indigo) look to it for me. very comforting and cozy.
Oh oh oh ... and I also wanted to say ... isn't it fun when we make a plan that gets changed by inspiration as we go through the 'planned' process?? That's the best!!! Inspired creativity :D
This was awesome! I really enjoyed how you switched gears and went with your idea. A few years ago, I took some lace weight yarn I had leftover from a project, a grey and a light silver, and crocheted the two strands together in a chain to make a heavier yarn. It became the purse I have been using every day for the past few years.
Hi Evie, I hope you're all OK xx 😘 💕 It's funny you should say you're missing Vlogmas, because I am too.xxx, but hey we've only another 8 months to wait.🎄. I love the colours of the Braid you started with, then to see it all Spun up into a beautiful Yarn is just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this video podcast ❤. Hope you have A Great Weekend Happy Spinning Take care and stay safe Fibre Friend Lots of love Jen xxxx 💖 🎄 ❤❤❣❣🐑🐑
Hi Evie, thankyou so much for the Heart Reply ❤ Sending Heart back to you ❤ Happy Spinning Fibre Friend Take care and stay safe Lots of love Jen xxxx 💖 🎄 ❤❤🥰🥰🐏🐏
It's still a method that I use, I just don't use it for all my projects. If you love it, then you ply from all the center pull balls you can spin up and don't let anyone tell you not to. 😊💜🧶
It is so beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity! I never tried a crepe or cable yarn bur now my fingers are burning 😊 i would really like to see the hat too 😊
This was such a fun video! I giggled a few times and was smiling the whole way through. I can't believe the plying yarn was yak, as I'm struggling with the very short staple, so the hints and tips were very timely! Lots of love to you Evie. 🙏🏻🥰
Wow ! I am in awe ! I can't believe how easy you make it look like to spin and ply such a lovely yarn. I will attirbute your success to years of experience. I do not spin yet but I find you quite inspiring. THANKS !
That would be awesome! I thought of your yarn today actually, I was looking at 'The big jimmy jab' jumper pattern by Woolly badger and thought that it would be awesome for that, but it's knitted.
@JillianEve just to let you know, I don’t think there’s a week go by when I don’t recommend your channel on Facebook. I consider myself to be a pretty experienced spinner but I still enjoy you videos. Especially when I’m under the weather and can’t spin. Thank you 🙏 for all your efforts. 🤗
That was fun! Love the result & learned a bunch about multi-plies & how to accomplish them. I also got a big hint on how to manage my alpaca fiber which is very fine, lofty & very short stapled (almost 1 inch). Definitely going to try the mini rolag trick!!!
how did you get the spin's to get tot eh ply back part in section 16:42? that's when it started looking like a chain kind of but I wasn't sure did you repeat everything 2 times then pyied all of I together ??
Evie, this is amazing how you can draft from that braid. Every braid I’ve ever used have been to tightly packed that I had to separate the fibre, thus loosing the colours. Have you any idea why that is? Many thanks for your time. And thank you for your expertise and generosity in your advice.
While playing around with my supported spindle I ended up creating a 6-ply cabled yarn (overplied chain ply, then bracelet plied on itself). It somehow turned out laceweight. Mostly I'm just thrilled to get to say I made it. XD
Beautiful Yarn! I have not learned to chain ply. Question? If you spin the first fiber z twist then chain ply the singles, s twist, then spin the yak z twist which way do you ply the chain ply yarn with the yak and then the next to make the 8 ply? LOL does that all make sense? You may have said in the video! Thank you
It makes sense and I cut that from the video because it was so confusing. Here is the break down: Merino - Z; Chain ply - S; Yak single - S; Crepe ply - Z, Cable from center pull ball - S
Yak is a lovely and very warm fiber but is is short stapled so it takes lots of twist to keep it together. I feel like adding a ply (another strand of yak or a different fiber) keeps it more stable, but I will always say you should try it and find out what works best for you! 🧶😊💜
Is these the steps that it took to get it to completion ----1)spin single(colored yard), 2)chain ply (color yarn), 3)Spin Yak(whitish) 4)spin both the chain ply color and white Yak, 5) wined into a skin, 6)wined on to a winder to make balled yarn, 7) then re-spun from ball back to bobbin??? Is this the correct steps?
When you plied the single to the chain ply, did you do S? 3-ply was? Then making the cabled yarn was plied how? I typically spin singles Z then ply S. I’ve never done what you have and am interested on the how’s for plied cable yarns.😊
This is so pretty and fun to watch. Would you consider making a video (or a couple) that is just terminology. Ply, batting, cable, roving, etc? Just quick explanations with an example. I imagine you have tons of footage of all these things you can use already
I have a question about posture, and arm , hand movements while spinning : do you ever get back pain or body pain of making the same movements for hours in a row ? Did you find an ideal posture or system ? Or is it just me being so enthousiastic and a bit “ overspun” myself 😅 that I get back and shoulder pains , because I’m so stoked to see a bobbin full…🧵⚡️
This would be great for weaving, like a shawl. Beautiful!

Allowing ourselves permission to explore is a fun ride, you are so right! 😊💜🧶💯
8 ply??? Wow! Youre a rockstar!😮
Beautiful yarn

It's so great to follow the project to a surprising but wonderful conclusion!
WOOOOOOOOOW!!!! 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍
(that's all I have to say about this)
Evie I love this yarn! It reminds me of Mardi Gras!! Louisiana never leaves you lol!
Haha! It is Mardi Gras colors! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
The finished yarn looks amazing! I'm still having withdrawal symptoms from Vlogmas too, I miss the different project everyday.
Hi Evie, I hope you're all OK xx 😘 💕

I love it so much! A sweater or cardigan would be so fun
this is making me want to start spinning I really love how it turned out
Yay! A new video. So great to see you Jillian!
You too! Happy spinning! 😊🧶💜
Lovework, great job
This is gorgeous, I can't wait to see you make it up into a hat!
This yarn has me in a Mardi gras mood
Glad to see you changed your mind about trying the center pull ball method. I’m addicted to using that method to ply now.
It's still a method that I use, I just don't use it for all my projects. If you love it, then you ply from all the center pull balls you can spin up and don't let anyone tell you not to. 😊💜🧶

OMG! I love your stone whorl spindle @ the 3:00 time spamp.
Thank you! It is an agate whorl and it spins so fast! 💜🧶😊
Music is hitting me right in the end-of-week vibes!
Also, my EEW Yarn Counter came in this week and it is a GAME CHANGER as a spinner!
🎉🎉🎉
Oh my such a beautiful yarn💕
Wow ! I am in awe ! I can't believe how easy you make it look like to spin and ply such a lovely yarn. I will attirbute your success to years of experience. I do not spin yet but I find you quite inspiring. THANKS !
Thanks so much 😊
I might try this with March paradise fiber!
You have given me a great idea. Thanks.
Happy spinning! 🧶💜😊
I just LOVE this yarn, and how the different colors pop out at different points. Good choice on the natural yak!
Thank you! 🧶💜😊
Oh now I want to go play some more! I can’t wait to see what you make out of it!
That is so much fun. Love how this turned out.
That was so much fun. I love how you are willing to change plans and be fluid with what you are doing.
It turned out so pretty Evie! I love it
You’re incredibly skilled. Thank you for sharing! The yarn is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
That really is awesome yarn! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!!
Thank you! My mom came over and saw it so it might end up being her birthday present. A cowl or a hat maybe? 🤫🤫🤫😊
That would be awesome! I thought of your yarn today actually, I was looking at 'The big jimmy jab' jumper pattern by Woolly badger and thought that it would be awesome for that, but it's knitted.
Another great idea. This is definitely added to my to do list.
Another fantastic video tutorial Evie, I love this idea and I’ve never tried an 8ply yarn before. 💖👏👏
Go for it! 💜🧶😊

your joy at this adventure definitely shows. the yarn is lovely. that book is one of my fave spinning references.
Mine too! It is so good! 🧶💜
Love the yarn you made. It's really pretty and has a neat texture!
Thank you! 😊
I can’t wait to see it in your project - so cool and so fun!!
That is so awesome!
Oh the yarn turned out lovely Evie!
Lol… yes, sometimes the plyback test can be ‘dangerous’ 🤣
Yes, they can! Lol!
That was fun! Love the result & learned a bunch about multi-plies & how to accomplish them. I also got a big hint on how to manage my alpaca fiber which is very fine, lofty & very short stapled (almost 1 inch). Definitely going to try the mini rolag trick!!!
That is awesome! I hope it works for you!
Loved this video! Such a cool idea and the finished yarn is amazing! 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
The hard-working Kate. xD That's right, whatever did they name her lazy for?
I think she needs a re-brand! She does work hard! 😂🧶💜💯
This is absolutely beautiful 🥰. I love that you just went for it. I also would love to see a swatch.
Thank you! Will do! I will have an update about some of these yarns and how they swatch up eventually. It is the plan!

looks great i am liking the colors. is it ok to spin yak on it own or would it be better to put it with another fiber

@@JillianEve thank you , will be getting some later this summer after there shearing , there is a farm to the west of me here in Canada

What are the espinner attributes
Would you recommend getting the espinner for a small environment? How do I come by one and how much do they cost?
You can get the Ashford e-spinner at The Woolery. Here's a link: woolery.com/ashford-e-spinner-3.html?aff=186
A yak croissant 😂😂
😂
You should do like a mini vlogmas in July like how Tv channels and some stores do Christmas in July. You could do like a week long Vlogmas in july.
Not necessarily related, but would wet finished singles still be able to be plied, or does this need to be done before wet finishing?
I usually ply, then finish. 😊🧶💜
Ply chicken .... That would be a Plymouth Rock?
