Peter Jackson fell off the canon wagon multiple times for very large changes. Sauron great eye for example. 100%fakeIt's only normal. It's an adaptation after all. Not a copy.
The fact that she is married doesnt seem to be an issue for either of them ,her choice not to hook up with him didn't seem to be based on the fact she is married at all.

I always liked that and thought it added a more magical, fairytale-like ending to love in Tolkeins lore, so seeing Galadriel and Halbrands relationship being teased as romantic was kind of uncomfortable and cheap feeling to me.
