Have just enjoyed watching this walk and want to thank you for posting this. We have stayed in Funchal 5-6 times now and our first holiday was in the Hotel where this walk starts, before it changed its name! As you stated, we are 2 of the many people who look over the Bridge when we come out of the Pestana Carlton and wonder if it’s possible to get down there!!! We will definite do this walk in May when we go again. Thanks again.
Morning Heather, that's good of you to let us know you enjoyed the walk. Ha ha yes, we've been looking over that bridge for a long time too! Have a wonderful time in May, I bet you're really looking forward to being in what sounds like your second home! Let us know if you enjoy the garden for real!
Hi Heather, well there's only the one entrance to the park as far as we know, so you have to kind of double back on yourself, but it's def' worth the visit. Hope you enjoy it, wish we were joining you but we won't be back until July.
@@LivingWalks Thanks for that, we will definitely be doing this, & will let you know. We will get to see the flower Festival for the 2nd time, saw the fireworks 2021/2022 for the First time- wow!!!!
Join us on this narrated walk of Funchal's secret garden - the Quinta Magnólia Garden, here in Funchal, Madeira Portugal in 2022. If you've ever wondered how to access the garden that you see below the Ponte Estrada Monumental bridge between the Pestana Carlton Hotel and Reid's Palace, this is the video for you.
If you love Madeira, then pop by and subscribe to our new MADEIRA-only channel so we can bring you many more videos. www.youtube.com/@LivingWalksMadeira/videos
Ha - the mystery is solved - glad it is accessible :) And the gardens are so varied - cafes and tennis courts one moment, and then tiered rock walled walkways the next.
Wonderful walk. With a population of over 100,000, there are not too many people in the garden. Very peaceful walk. My wife and I would enjoy the secret garden. Thank you for all your wonderful Living Walks. Heat wave today in Sandpoint, Idaho. It is 36 degrees, 2.2 Celsius.
Lovely vid and great commentary Yvonne. Doesn't look too shabby for January :) We are going to Madeira, staying in Funchal, for the first time in July so looking forward to that. I will look at your Madeira vids again before we go. Tx for sharing. Best wishes, Rob
Hello there Rob, what a pleasure to connect with you. We too will be in Funchal in July, it'd be lovely to hook up for a coffee if our paths cross. I've just been enjoying your lovely meander through Rye BTW. All the best to you and your channel.
A very relaxing and scenic walk around the Quinta Magnolia Garden❤! Loved it. The vegetation is quite similar to where we live in Australia in many ways. Thank you for showing us around!
Thanks for visiting fellow walker. That's interesting to hear the vegetation is quite similar to where you live in Australia and yet only a 3 hour flight away from us in the UK. Quite a surprise!
@@LivingWalks Yes, we live in the 'dry tropics' in northern Australia so we have lots of Yucca, cycads, palms, phylodendrons etc, so yes it was quite surprising to see similar species during the garden walk. Have a great week.
Hi again LW !! Thanks for this, a great commentary, good information and observations 🚌 🏨🍲🛥 🌊🌊🎄⛅️✅. The Quinta Magnólia Gardens are looking so good this season, and all to yourself too ! 🚶♀️ 🌴🌸🌳🪴 😃👍. Thanks 🙏 cheers, Don 🙋♂️ !!
Pleased you enjoyed it Don, we've just experimenting with narration and might mix a few in here and there. Have you ever thought of narration? I think your Scottish accent would be a joy to listen to. I've been enjoying your Winter Sunshine, Wind & Seashore footage btw.
@@LivingWalks I enjoyed your commentaries, you both did a great job, sounding natural and keeping it interesting 👍. I have no plans to start talking on camera myself. I’m quite happy using natural sound, and allowing the images to tell the story 😃 👍. Cheers, Don
@@donroy7825 I perfectly understand that Don. I wonder if you've ever watched a youtuber called Dentan? He goes silent campervanning in a tiny car, you never see or hear him, just see what he's doing. You might enjoy it?ua-cam.com/users/dntn24videos
I'm a local and Quinta Magnolia was a bit different in the 80's and 90's. Had a swimming pool and was an alternative to Lido. Now, besides nice gardens, the tennis, squash and padel courts are a nice addition. It's a nice place to chill.
Thanks for connecting again Vic. I'd heard in the 80's and 90's that it had a swimming pool. I'd like to have seen that. We'll be back again in July to your lovely Island, we just can't keep away!
Hi wonderful lady, it’s just amazing to hear your thoughts and experience share after walking with you so many Funchal streets during pandemic. I now looking to buy big screen tv so I can loop your living walks there, like it will be the best window of the World. I dream to visit Madeira one day! Thank you for your skills and patience for providing the content. I would like to support you on Patreon if you have it. Also, could you please give me a kind advise - l want to record my new puppy dog on our walks for future memories really and hence would you recommend to use my iPhone XR with gimbal stabiliser or DJI pocket 2 or GoPro 7 ? Like what’s your preferred camera for walking and do I need to buy a separate microphone? I thought just to get a gimbal first for trying but then saw that you use different cameras and decided to follow your advice. I look forward to seeing many more beautiful livingwalks with you this summer. Have a great one 🌿🌱🍀☘️🌴🌳🌷🌹🌼🌸🌺 Thank you 🐾🐾
Hello dear Marker, we’ll I think your message is one of the nicest ones we’ve received. How kind of you to let us know that you are enjoying the walks so much and that you would even support us on patriot. We’ve never used patriot, but we just appreciate you watching and being in contact. We love the fact that you are now looking to buy big screen tv so you can loop our living walks. We very much look forward to bringing many more cities your way to get you in the mood for seeing these places for real. It would be good to know that your dream to visit Madeira happens, I know you wouldn’t be disappointed. We look forward to seeing your new puppy dog on some walks if you decide to put them on UA-cam for future memories. We have been very happy with the DJI pocket 2 creative edition which includes a really good external mic, so I’d say go with that and you won’t go wrong. Otherwise as you already have the iPhone then it would be cheaper to get a gimbal and I think that would be very successful. Anyway we wish you the very best and we hope to keep in touch. Yvonne and Mike xx
Hello there Suzi, being a volcanic Island most streets are hilly, including those surrounding the city. The main Avenue, the Cathedral area, the old town and the whole seaside promenade in Funchal is flat though, so you can still walk for some while without navigating the hilly bits. Hope that helps?
