I love my country South Africa but oh God let us be real. We have an army that has gone soft due to the fact we go on more peacekeeping missions than to any active warzones. We had major rioting in my province Durban and even though we appreciated the visual of their presence, the people in our communities seemed to have more fire power than our army 🙈 and there is always that endearing video of the army guy who was so out of shape that his fellow soldiers had to lift him into the truck 😂 but still these men will defend us with their lives. I am a South African and live in South Africa as well as was in the military in South Africa and I can tell you we will be easy to invade. Our problem besides our very small amount of WORKING equipment and our bad maintainance on these pieces of equipment, our army members are lazy, fat and undisciplined as well as corrupt. Tactic advantages should also have been listed among these and I see it wasn't. We have a lot of tactical advantages and disadvantages. Moreso disadvantages due to poor training and discipline. I am not sorry to disagree on this. I left our forces and went to the French foreign legion and that was way better than any training you will see here. And the French trained a lot of other countries's armies

You mean Gripen, as the Gryphon is very dated, though the SA are coming up to 20 years old and have not been upgraded. More important is that half of them are out of service.......they neither have the replacement parts or the technicans to keep them airbourne.....they never paid the bill to the Swedish 3rd party company to keep them in service, so now gathering dust. As a side note the Gripen would need to 3.5 to 4 hours at top max speed to travel the length of Africa but fall out of the sky after 800km, its top range without refueling, which jet refueling capabilty SA hasn't got. The rapid response helicopter based in Hoedspruit has less than 40% of the supposed helicopters available/servicable, and that does not include the lack of fuel to actual use more than 2 of them at the time, which is a joke in town.....because when one of them takes off we know the base has fuel for a change. During the recent naval excercise with china and russia only 1 of the 5 actual warships was actually servicable and useable. So of the supposed the 47 naval units the remaining ones are actually small landing and rib type units. Please read the recent scathing audit report given to parliment and the level of corruption that has decimated the SADF, the huge gap between units on paper versus ones that can be accounted for, the actual amount of tanks, howitzers etc that are actually operational......but include the amount of live ammo given to the SA peacekeeping force in recent deployment. SA's defense company, that used to be the envy of the world, is now bankrupt and plundered by corruption, with most of their technologies sold to Israel and China. Denel RIP

As over 37% of the SADF are classified as obese, NATO just needs them to get somewhere quickly and exhausition and heart failure will make the need to use a single bullet unnessecary. The recent SAAF graduate officers were allowed to pass without being able to pass the required fitness test......ie they are not fit enough to pass basic tests and requirement. And having lived near to 2 airforce bases I can assure you most would not be able to pass any fitness test.....boy oh boy are they fat (obese) and unfit. Read the recent audit report delivered to parliment that highlights the state of the equipment, the level of equipment that can longer be fiund, the actual amount of money that cannot be found or expenditure cannot be explained or identified.
If you use war fought to determine the strongest military in Africa Then Nigeria and Egypt will be the top best in Africa in terms of wars. Nigeria stop the Sierra Leone War, the Liberia War, and the Gambia, fought and won against Cameroon and Chad. Last week Nigeria send troops to help stop the war in SUDAN. It also has one of the largest army of about 140,000 supported by the largest population in Africa at 220m people. It has the 3rd largest air force and best navy in the West African region. @@999oj US has bases in Germany, Japan and even Qatar. Nigeria can not argue with the US if the US decides to set up a base within its borders it can invade Nigeria like it did in Iraq. I am a South African and live in South Africa as well as was in the military in South Africa and I can tell you we will be easy to invade. Our problem besides our very small amount of WORKING equipment and our bad maintainance on these pieces of equipment, our army members are lazy, fat and undisciplined as well as corrupt. Tactic advantages should also have been listed among these and I see it wasn't. We have a lot of tactical advantages and disadvantages. Moreso disadvantages due to poor training and discipline. I am not sorry to disagree on this. I left our forces and went to the French foreign legion and that was way better than any training you will see here. And the French trained a lot of other countries's armies

South africa is the only country in Africa that has Gryphon fighter jets. SA has two and no other African country has them. It takes less than 30 minutes for a Gryphon to travel over half of Africa, drop bombs and fly back before ur enemy can even catch up

You mean Gripen, as the Gryphon is very dated, though the SA are coming up to 20 years old and have not been upgraded. More important is that half of them are out of service.......they neither have the replacement parts or the technicans to keep them airbourne.....they never paid the bill to the Swedish 3rd party company to keep them in service, so now gathering dust.
As a side note the Gripen would need to 3.5 to 4 hours at top max speed to travel the length of Africa but fall out of the sky after 800km, its top range without refueling, which jet refueling capabilty SA hasn't got.
The rapid response helicopter based in Hoedspruit has less than 40% of the supposed helicopters available/servicable, and that does not include the lack of fuel to actual use more than 2 of them at the time, which is a joke in town.....because when one of them takes off we know the base has fuel for a change.
During the recent naval excercise with china and russia only 1 of the 5 actual warships was actually servicable and useable. So of the supposed the 47 naval units the remaining ones are actually small landing and rib type units.
Please read the recent scathing audit report given to parliment and the level of corruption that has decimated the SADF, the huge gap between units on paper versus ones that can be accounted for, the actual amount of tanks, howitzers etc that are actually operational......but include the amount of live ammo given to the SA peacekeeping force in recent deployment.
SA's defense company, that used to be the envy of the world, is now bankrupt and plundered by corruption, with most of their technologies sold to Israel and China. Denel RIP

As over 37% of the SADF are classified as obese, NATO just needs them to get somewhere quickly and exhausition and heart failure will make the need to use a single bullet unnessecary.
The recent SAAF graduate officers were allowed to pass without being able to pass the required fitness test......ie they are not fit enough to pass basic tests and requirement. And having lived near to 2 airforce bases I can assure you most would not be able to pass any fitness test.....boy oh boy are they fat (obese) and unfit.

If you use war fought to determine the strongest military in Africa Then Nigeria and Egypt will be the top best in Africa in terms of wars. Nigeria stop the Sierra Leone War, the Liberia War, and the Gambia, fought and won against Cameroon and Chad. Last week Nigeria send troops to help stop the war in SUDAN. Egypt is number 1 because America supplies most of its weapons because of the Arab Spring and to calm down the tension in the middle east with Israel, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, etc.

Both the port and the destroyer were annihilated by a team of sa'ka members (that was one of their first missions). More recently, a reporter was held hostage, surrounded by 3 suicide bombers finger on the button in case anyone tried to get him, the way they were positioned it was impossible to get a synchronized shot on them as some of them were in cover. It would be impossible to use explosives as that would kill the hostage. best option? Close quarters. (The us has a policy stating that any aid you are provided will be nullified if you try to customize any of it). That m4a1 variant has since been redacted and i can't find anything of use on it

It also has one of the largest army of about 140,000 supported by the largest population in Africa at 220m people. It has the 3rd largest air force and best navy in the West African region.
