Add a UV light canister to the incoming or return line and it will take care of the bacteria

Thanks, hadn't seen that before I will look into it.

Ya all (long lasting) machines are oil pigs! Mazaks are just as bad. Just skim it or kind were it comes out the casting and put a catch can

Also buy a "needle wheel" pump which extremely oxygenates the coolant water, this also limits bacteria.

I had an oil problem with my lathe but only because I use it so rarely but I put in a disk skimmer and that fixed the problem for me so your Okuma must be an oil pig!

We had a belt skimmer but it never kept up. It seemed to pull quite a bit of oil out but still built up oil like crazy. We paid about the same amount for the belt skimmer vs the SkimRay and it seems to really be working. But yea the Okuma is a oil pig for sure lol. I have heard it's kinda common with these machines. She is about 40 years old give or take.

@@dnjmachine Damn that machine is old. Good to see it still pumping out parts. I didn't know the Skimray was that cheap, you get a lot for about $500.

@@HuskyMachining yea only way I could afford a machine like it at this point. She still keeps rock solid tolerances atleast so far

@@bsoul555 looks like I threw out the box and the motor has no marking on it. If you want me to send a pic of it I can if you tell me where you want it sent. Otherwise it's just a 110 ac pump without markings

@@dnjmachine It's ok, thanks for helping. I'm trying to get a same type of system for my 3 CNC machines but I don't find it anywhere in Europe.

@@bsoul555 If your thinking of making your own I think the plastic lattice structure thing inside the box is really important, I ran it without and it didn't do near as good of a job.
