    As much as I paid for my 2020 machine, it should have quality skid plates on it already...

    Did my new Outlander come with plastic skid plates so you could sell me high priced replacement skid plates?

    I understand canam is in the business of making money, but if they really wanted to show up the competition, they should equip skid plates standard. In the long run it will show that they are really interested in making the most durable atvs on the market. I just purchased a outlander l 500 and as a first time buyer I was ignorant of how easily cv boots are damaged. A few weeks in and my machine suffered a rip in my front left outer cv boot. Come to find out the cv boots and joints are generally not covered under warranty. All in all I decided to just get an upgraded axle aswell as the ricochet skid plates. I still love my canam and I will probably buy another next year but only with the skid plates. They could really set the mark high in the industry if they included these as standard and also save some heartache to their customers. Ive learned my lesson and hopefully they consider what I have said. My goal for next year is a commander max xt with the full skid plate outfit. Thanks for the wonderful atv.

    Did he say it was a weaker alloy because of the color? Nice try, I've worked with can-am's and Ricochet's and they are the same alloy, the ricochet just has a brushed finish which i think is a nice touch.

    Hmmm, all maintenance access? Apparently the front differential drain plug isn't considered a maintenance item. Had to drill a hole for it on mine.

    I know the can-am skid plate is probably better but what is the price difference? They look the same to me besides the deep bolt hole on the can-am

    False Information!
    I bought and installed Ricochet full aluminum skid plate kit under my 2016 Can-Am Outlander 650 MAX. Fit and finish is excellent along with all the bends and welds. Far less expensive than Can-Am's OEM skid plates and more coverage protection. Don't let Can-Am fool you into buying their expensive accessories when aftermarket accessories are usually better quality and less expensive.

      @@claytonprescott6154 Used one of those really big yellow road signs with the black arrow on it.Got it cheap at the local recycling/junkyard.Used a cardboard box for the template and transfer that on the aluminum.Cut it out with a jig saw,drilled holes in it for the original mounting locations that is on the quad.I got a pretty good idea of how I was going to do it after looking at the one's they sell online.

    Anyone know what size bolt are in the plates that cover the control arms on a 2018 commander XT? Had them off to put my tracks on and can’t find them. Can’t see if they thread into the control arm (in 3 places) or if I just need some bolts and lock washers.

      My question too. Would assume you’d leave out the front plate and keep the center plate and everything behind it on

    I have a 2018 Outlander 650 Max XT with dealership installed Can Am aluminum skid plates. I am interested in purchasing a (2019) Flex Plow kit, but I was told by my Can Am dealership that I have to remove the front frame skid plate in order to attach the frame mounted bracket. This contradicts what you say in the video (albeit older parts in video). If the dealership is correct, it seems to me that you have designed the new plow system by taking two steps backwards if you cannot mount the bracket overtop of the skid plate and leaving it permanently attached. Hopefully someone from BRP can respond??

    • @acourtneyification
      @acourtneyification 5 років тому

      Side note. I did send a message to BRP to have my question as above answered, and they referred me to my dealership. What the hell!!

      Did you ever hear anything back on this or just take the front skid plate off? I’m about to buy a 2019 outlander mossy oak edition that comes with the aluminum skid plates. I also want to add a Can Am plow system for the winter. If you had to take the front skid plate section off and attach the plow mount, how big of a chore is that?

    • @acourtneyification
      @acourtneyification 4 роки тому

      @@ericgray8396 I had my local Can Am dealership do the install. It was about an hour to complete. They were able to keep my skid plates on, but they required some very minor modification. This enabled my machine to keep the plow bracket to stay on all the time. Plow works great by the way!!

    Can-Am is making it sound like machine pressed is better than hand made and hand welded. I always thought had made and hand welded is better than mass production. guess I was wrong. Not.
