I graduated high school in 1986 And met my future wife that same year. I’m still with my wife and I still love and miss the eighties. There’s never been a better decade for me.

Gradyated in 1985 and met my wife the night before Halloween in 1985 and still together too. We're both 'stuck in the 80s', lol.

The 80's had some of the best music, hottest female hair-styles, and enjoyable movies of any decade during my lifetime. It had one of the best Presidents ever too, Ronald Regan!

I was 20 in 1983. I lived in Southern California. It was magical. Many times you live through an iconic time but don’t realize it until years later. Not the 80s We KNEW it was magical. We were sitting in Mutt Lynches in Newport Beach and my friend said “This has to be one of the greatest time in history” He was correct. It was like living in a John Hughes movie. It was fantastic. I’m so happy I was young and single during this time…..

You forgot skinny ties and pastel colors. You can't for get about bi-level haircuts, as they were known back then, though they were also called mullets as well, a name we are more familiar with. Harrison Ford was in quite a few movies, as was Ah-nold, who starred in several big movies, including "The Terminator" and "Conan the Barbarian". Hard rock and heavy metal were quite big in the 80s. Van Halen had one of their biggest albums, "1984, the saw their lead singer, David Lee Roth, leave to become a solo artist, only to be replaced by Sammy Hagar. I was in high school and an undergrad in college throughout the 80s, and saw it all! The rise of arcade video games and then the subsequent rise of home game consoles. Michael Jackson became the King of Pop in the decade. Stallone had "First Blood", Price has "Purple Rain", Bruce Willis had "Die Hard", Eddie Murphy had "Beverly Hills Cop", and Harrison Ford has, well, he had a lot of movies! Tom Cruise had a lot of films in the 80s as well, but his biggest was probably "Top Gun". Two big "Star Wars" movies made George Lucas tons of money, and Steven Spielberg's "E.T." may have been the biggest grossing movie of the decade. Ah, the memories...

I miss the original MTV...I try to keep it alive for myself anyway by grabbing a ton of music videos and original MTV bumpers and station IDs and some intros using the Vjays and have it all just play randomly. It's the closest I can get, but it works.

Class of ‘86! I remember having to record Miami Vice on the VCR because my brother and I were playing football on Friday nights. I do remember one year during summer football training, our head coach brought an aerobics instructor to the gym. She was on the stage while we were on the gym floor and, she had us sweating so much, we were slipping in our sweat. It was a good workout to compliment our own workout and training.
Also, pinch rolling your jeans was a trend. Going to the mall and hanging out. I didn’t do that much since I didn’t live near one. Remember when Coca Cola and I think Pepsi, too, was available in small plastic bottles that had a thin layer of styrofoam that covered about two-thirds of bottles? We used to peel some of the styrofoam off then, twist off the styrofoam without breaking it. Then, place the styrofoam back on the lower part of the bottle and, slap the bottom of the styrofoam upward and, it would create a loud pop.
Also, sleeveless shirts and crop tops. Most of the students wore Levi’s, some in the early ‘80s wore Jordache, some of the girls wore Esprit, and Girbaud was worn by a few students. I didn’t like the neon clothes and stuck to the pastels and traditional colors.
Still had our Atari 2600 from 1977 or ‘78 but, mostly played coin-op games at the arcades and stores. Listened to just about every genre of music. Never had MTV since my dad wouldn’t splurge on cable when it was available where we lived but, got to watch it at my cousins and friends homes.
Had a great time in the ’80s!

Ah yes the 1980's who could forget those were the best and worst of times depending on who you ask. It was the last time you felt safe the last time you saw some semblances of normality I miss the soul, flavor and ambiance of those times though not perfect even with all it's flaws I would rather go back there then to deal with today's time but course of my perspective is through the lenses of a child who grow up in 80's.

I'm 61 and went to college in the 80's. My early memories were the 1960's. We always had bad times. Vietnam. Riots. Cold War. But now? Another day another shooting. More hard drug overdoses. Riot on the Capital. Covid. More shootings. Putin. Ukraine. China. Loss of American industrial base. I guess any decade looks better than now. I think the Great Depression is starting to look good at this point. Even Nixon looks better every day.

The 80s were the meat of my childhood. I was 10 in 1980 and 19 in 1989 so I truly grew up in the 80s. Seeing this makes me long for a time that will never be again. You see a lot of people trying to "be the 80s" today but it can't happen and never will. Just facades of what was. Great video.
My only REAL pet peeve about the 80s is that today's kids believe that everything was neon and black and they wear that crap on Halloween and 80s parties. WRONG! Neon played a really small part of the 80s. In fact, no one I knew ever wore it. I'm getting angry just thinking about it! LOL

The 80's were like my Wonder Years. I was born in '79. So I got to be a kid back then. It was friggin great, especially the Summers and Halloween. The early 90's weren't too bad either. But yeah, definitely an unforgettable time to have been growing up.

I graduated from high school in 1984. Those were halcyon days! Reagan ruled and the upper-middle and middle working classes were prioritized. Anything was possible if you studied in school and went to work. “The future was so bright (we) had to wear shades”. We were so busy working hard and partying hard that we missed the darkness that was surrounding us. The Marxist movement that started in the 1940’s and exploded in the ‘60’s was percolating in the background and reached up and devoured us in the 1990’s and 2000’s. The United States is now a third world hellhole and there is precious little of that burgeoning, valuable, happy, prosperous middle class left. The kids we were today have to apologize for who they are and get to work for the welfare crowd. There is no more happiness.
