I have been doing needlework for many decades now and have only just found an interest in hardanger. Your tutorials are very welcome, informative, and easy to follow. Much appreciated.
I am teaching myself Hardanger and really appreciate your video that I have just watched and I can already some of the stitching I have done, I can improve on. I have just been working from magazines that have very little explanation. Thank you so much. Till next time.
I wanted to let you know that I have watched all of your videos on Hardanger, and I enjoyed each and every one of them. Your teaching style is clear and easy to follow. Great work!
Hi - the #8 Perle Cotton is a thinner thread than the #5. The #12 Perle Cotton is thinner than the #8. The same applies to tapestry needles: size 24 tapestry needle is thinner than a 22 and the 26 is thinner than the 24. I'm not sure of the explanation for this but am guessing that with the thread it has to do with how many threads fit in a certain area, for example so many threads per inch. The more threads that can fit into that inch, the finer the thread. I hope this helps!
Very different and a little more complicated than how I learned to do it but also much better. Thank you.

+edilmamejia77 You're welcome!!
I thought #8 was a heavier thread and # 5 thinner thread and the satin threads should be done in #8?
