  • Follow WFP Fire Alarm Engineer, George, as he embarks on a call-out to one of our customers, a London hotel, experiencing faults on their fire alarm panel.
    It's so important to keep up with your six-monthly fire alarm maintenance service visits, and acting on faults as soon as you spot them with your fire alarm (weekly testing is a great way to keep on top of this and spotting things as soon as possible). You'll see, for instance, George highlights smoke detectors which have collected dust and dirt, which can contribute to faults arising, so keeping up with your servicing to keep these clean and functional is crucial.

    shame they didnt have an addressable system for a hotel that size.

      Was thinking the same thing, imagine searching for that device in that building lol
      Zone 3 fault, check zone 3 on site map (if they have one) and it’s two floors to check lol
      The hotel tried to save money installing a conventional system however it backfired when having to pay out the fire protection company more to find the fault!

    This was actually an interesting video thumbs up from me. Don't really see much on the fire alarm systems, so more on these when you next get round to them pal.
    Keep up the good work i'm now a subscriber

    Surely the dust on the detector wouldn't matter because it's a heat?

    • @wirefreeprotection
      @wirefreeprotection  4 роки тому +2

      Hi, thank you for your comment. To answer you, the detector would be compromised by a build up of contaminates (dirt) as it may prevent, or delay, the hot air from reaching the sensing element. Point detectors (smoke or heat) are passive in operation, meaning that they are fixed at a point in the building and waiting for the environment to change around them, therefore any delays to their operation could add time to detection of a fire, which ultimately compromises the fire system.
