The issue is when talented people get overlooked in favor of nepo kids.

There seems to be a lot of love for Platt's rendition but for me it's not a patch on Shoshana Bean version on broadwaycom. She acts out the song brilliantly.

Yeah, one of the best vocal talents in decades and some doofus types just can't help but their off key warble to that amazing voice.
Of course, keep in mind there have been performances of musical theater that have had to be stopped so that an announcement could be made telling members of the audience that's not appropriate to sing along.

I just don't think he's THAT good. There are much more talented people who don't get the break he had just because their dads aren't big time hollywood and broadway producers like his dad is. His voice is honestly just meh. If you had no clue who Ben Platt was and heard it for the first time, you might not care for it.
